Well, i guess i'm the only one who is going to be able to watch this, fuck sake kat or sea or whoever, is this REALLY that big a deal?! I only wanted to share an awfully shot video of last nights gig, don't see how this is any different to any of the other videos on youtube, i thought it was a pretty cool thing to share!! ughhh
The signs were clear. The 10c message right here on this website is clear. Youtube's copyright policy is clear. The fact that every other publicly listed EV show video has been taken down makes it even more clearer. And if you know yourself that the video is awfully shot, why even bother?

Sorry, unlike some, my life does not revolve entirely around this forum. So no, i did not know the policies, the signs are not clear to the passing forum viewer and poster. Get off your high horse dude, im as big a pearl jam fan as the next guy and i just wanted to share something cool with the people here, and when looking on youtube and watching through countless fan shot videos of past shows it MUST have slipped my mind that a video of Eddie playing two cover songs might actually not be copyright infringement to the band in anyway.

I just struggle with this being banned when others arent is all...

I always think that I would like to give something back to Eddie, and last Night he got something for himself when his idol arrived unexpectedly! So lovely to see his
    My thought exactly.
It was so great to witness genuinely surprised Ed. In the venue which is so special to him with his idol.
    Very happy for him.

It's getting away from the topic, and there's a stickied post to discuss it anyway, with the full explanation given, so I see no point in going any further here.

  • Wow! What a night!

Left home after work with my partner heading for Hammersmith,2 hours away, ticketless. After seeing Ed in Manchester (first EV solo gig) we had to try to get into the last UK show. We had no idea that we would even get in but went for it anyway. Huge thanks to Justinya who made our night happen with an incredible act of kindness. We managed to get tickets and were spoiled rotten. Still trying to digest what we witnessed. It was incredible.

I raise a glass to being spontaneous! Cheers!

    I second that!
Was in the same situation - impulsively decided to stay an extra night in London and see the show -- so glad I decided to go with my instincts - one of the best shows I've ever been to!

I third that!!! I was with Tim AKA Critical Turnip when he decided to go for it, I had my doubts with his spontaneity (which is a first for me) and tried my hardest to secure tickets before the show and with the help of Justinya our dreams came true. We were sat in different rows in the circle at first and then all of a sudden there was a spare seat next to me that hadn't been claimed and so we were able to sit together! Well, what a show. I will never forget this.

We have sat just looking at each other in disbelief since we come back. I feel like my all senses have been overloaded! Thank you Eddie for singing Long nights among others but this song made me crumble into a weeping mess! What a night...Thanks Vedder, Hansard, Finn and Daltrey! So Glad I got to experience Manchester and the amazing night 2 in London!

Glad we have a months rest before we go to Wolverhampton to see Lanegan and The creature with an atom brain (hopefully with appearance of duke garwood) What a year!

I was very lucky to be at this show with my wife and it was a very special occasion for many many reasons. Vocals and delivery from Eddie and Glen Hansard (as well as everyone else who performed) were just fantastic and was a beautiful experience I will cherish. The set as a whole was flowing and really got a glimpse of the man behind the music. To hear some of the Into the Wild selection took me aback and just had a big grin on my face for most of the show.

Have read lots about things people weren't happy with including cameras / flashes / people moving around during seating / people shouting out between songs / atmosphere etc. Got to agree in the main, doesn't seem much consideration in society in general. You can't even go to the movies and watch a film these days without someone holding court in cinema mid movie, but I really feel some people need to work on their manners and their apparent ignorance a little at these affairs. I mentioned to many people the atmos in Manchester we experienced on night 2 of Pearl Jam was really awesome and beautiful. I felt proud I was amongst some good people that night and it made the experience even finer.

People seem to be pointing fingers at the general attendee rather than the main. This was very unfair and wrong. Some of the worst behavior I witnessed was from the organised 'fanatics'. You know the clone T-shirt gang types huddled together that think the man is just their for them and nobody else deserves to see him perform because they are not in a 'Club' and or haven't seen him play 30 times before. People really need to get a grip – it's just creepy and a little pathetic. You have no right to be there more than anyone else and your enjoyment shouldn't inflict on another persons enjoyment as well. And may I state before everyone jumps on me, not all people in groups and clubs together behaved like this. But wearing a uniform does get you noticed as a 'group' right, for better or for worse.

Example: Moaning at one person for using a camera while your 'bud' sits there doing the same is just is a pile of sh•t. I wasn't using a camera by the way – not my style. And moaning at others for various things then getting up in a seated concert and dancing for a song is way rude! And above all tragically ignorant especially for people in rows behind you. If you 'love' the artist as much as you make out you do – show some respect for him and the other people there who want a night to remember for all the right reasons. And yes, well done. You got attention. I think this was probably the main aim wasn't it? Shame the man you came to see and apparently idolise even spared a glance to look over wondering why the negative commotion in your general vicinity was happening.

To all the people that made it a great experience I say thank you and peace. To the others (you know who you are) I say evolve and respect the other people that also like the artist and their work. It is allowed.

I think all the people that have been using this Fanview topic to bitch about how others acted during the show need to work on their focus.

I'm not looking to get in to debates about it, just saying what I saw.

Brother, I went there to enjoy the night and did :)
It's fine music. How can you not right.

Hit the nail on the head - many points well made and agree with every single one of them. People seem to have an increasing sense of entitlement for themselves but a screw you attitude towards everyone else - especially when what they're doing affects others. When I mentioned to two people on Monday and Tuesday that their tweeting / getting up midsong was distracting I was told 'Not my issue bud' and had 'twat' spat in my face. Avid fans maybe, but seem to have missed the 'Look out for each other' thing that if it feels if nothing else is what PJ/Ed is all about.

    Damien Rice sings :
"And why do you sing Hallelujah
If it means nothing to you
Why do you sing with me at all?"

Perhaps the same could be said about Corduroy too ...

    That!Was!Mindblowing!

After flying home, getting some sleep and coming down (just a little, i´m afraid...), I may be able to find some words to describe that glorious night. Expectations had been high, but then have been smashed away completely - Even before the unbelivable stuff happening during the last hour, it was great. Glen Hansard is a brillant songwriter and singer, his interaction with the (ashamlingly small) crowd during his set was both funny and moving. Perfect Company for Ed! You must check out the Frames´stuff, too, they have made some very cool albums togehter with Glen.

Then Ed was - well, very Ed! To have him only a few metres away playing and singing felt almost unreal, loved the setlist (only suggestion might be to pack in even more of the ukulele-stuff - in addition to the other songs, of course  - but that might be a minority-vote...). And after all, he could even just sit there and tell stories, I would still love it. How the fuck does he do that? Then beeing there when Daltrey appeared, see how happy Ed was and go crazy over it when the crowd kinda exploded in cheer - it almost knocked me out. Roger seemed very pleased by impressing Ed with his uke-ability, right? At some point I wasn´t sure if it was still excitement, or merely some kind of nervous breakdown; that smiling and criyng at the same time may have looked a bit scary to my seat neighbour on on the left, I´m afraid. Sorry and cheers by the way to Adrian (I think it was) from Bern  .

A night to remember for life and definetely worth every effort it took to get there. But one thing (although not beeing the first to mention): Next time I will definetely try to get even closer to the stage, so that those standup-and-get-drinks-8-times-a-night-guys and there smartphone-film-all-colleagues can´t bother me again. What in hell is wrong with you? Ever thought about the impression that must give to the guys on stage? :fp: Maybe the house security was bit to nice by just politely asking people not to use flashlights, as it obviously did not impress anyone. And I would definetely vote for closing the bars during the show, to avoid all this run-around stuff! At least the elderly couple on my right agreed in stopping to turn their (alienlike brightlely blue shining) mobile on every 1 and a half minute to read something about the songs that were played and use ist as a lamp for some kind of setlist they had, when I asked them to. Think, they considered it a bit strange to be be criticized like that by a person who could (by age) likely be their daughter, but they accepted it and thats more than you could tell about a lot of other guys that night. Thank you!

Anyway, I had a great time and I´m proud of having been there. The buzzing still gets on and on and how I wish they have kept it for a bootleg :? Thanks to dottles for the badge again (there were no picks to grab for you, I´m afraid, but I´ll keep that in mind) and also for getting to know all you guys on the pre-gathering at distillers. Cheers to the wild bunch from poland, by the way, I will look out for your flag on every coming show!

    Rock on!
    Nadine

Edit: Typo-devil was its name-o! And besides: hanging around on the forum, reading all the stuff and thinking about tue-night over and over does obviously not help to encourage my attitude towards work at all  Meh, gonna keep on anyway - Buzzz on!

I went to both the London solo shows, and will summarise them both here.

    Night 1

I found night 1 to be both magical and spellbindng. I found myself completely lost in this show, and highlight had to be Arc. Such a beautiful eerie song. I know some people have complained about the PJ crowd pleasers in this show, but I thought it was nice to hear acoustic versions of those songs personally, particularly Lukin. I echo others comments about how well Ed and Glen's voices complemented each other on the collaborations.

    Night 2

For me this was somewhat hampered by where I was sitting. Lots of people constantly getting up and down to go to the bar in front of me, particularly a bunch of very drunk and irritating teenage kids. Couldn't understand that myself as I could not have allowed myself to miss one second of that gig. I've expressed my views on cameras in the other thread but to summarise, agree with it generally under certain conditions, but not at this particular pair of gigs. Despite the constant getting up and down to let people in and out, and therefore unable to lose myself in the same way as the previous night it was a fantastic gig. So many highlights I wouldn't know where to begin! If I had to pick just one it would probably be Throw Your Arms Around Me with Neil Finn but its such a close call. I mean Roger Daltrey making a surprise appearance ffs!

At both gigs was so lovely that Ed's daughters participated, they looked so nervous! Big thanks to Ed for coming out to thank us all after the 2nd gig, and wish I had the chance to thank him for doing for me when I was young, what he told us at the gig that the Who and Quadrophenia did for him when he was young. Did manage a shout of 'Thank you Ed' along with some others though.

Finally it was lovely to meet some fellow fans at last. Have been doing this alone or with a resistent husband in tow for the past few gigs so was a treat to meet some really nice likeminded people who I plan to keep in contact with.

Hey man, I wasn't meaning to direct that at you - I guess it is part of a Fanview. Just feels it's a big part from a lot of the comments I've read when seems like that is a fly buzzing around you while you looking at a waterfall - or something less wanky

No probs. Wasn't taken in offence :) Quote is not bad, don't knock yourself, but i've always been a man who viewed the universe above than concentrated on the single finger pointing into the night sky :)

Just thought it wise to mention. Can feel like you are the only one noticing these things else.

You are correct. It was Just Breathe. Sorry, phone rang mid typing.

Breath acoustic – it certainly would have had you 'gasping for air'.

Posters for Hammersmith. Is it true they glow in the dark??

Nice touch if so. So lovely seeing so many different styles through the Pearl Jam and EV tours.
Diversity of design, typography, colour and subject matter has been impressive.
