I could do that friday at the Dunes. Cut out work a little early and head over. Not a big deal for me.
Also the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore (different than the Indiana Dunes State Park) has a campground called Dunewood Campground and that's on a first-come-first-served basis. http://www.nps.gov/indu/planyourvisit/feesandreservations.htm
One thing though...it appears no alcohol is allowed in these parks.
I'm out.
You know, you don't need alcohol to have a good time. Just the company of good people exchanging stories and bonding should be enough. Perhaps you guys could have a poetry reading and cook smores?

I think our only option is a private campground. Both IN and MI state parks and national ones appear to have this policy. Some sites say it is strictly enforced but I guess only those that have been there and done that could tell us for sure.

i saw one in west central that allowed it...i think it was state...forget the name now...
really is sucky on their part.
although i guess with mamasan in tow, we would draw their attention and get yelled at.

"Let's check Idaho."
But I just checked http://indianastateparks.reserveamerica.com/ and there are no available sites of any kind on the 25th. Friday the 24th there are 2 available.
Noblesville 5/7/10, PJ20 Alpine 9/3/11- 9/4/11, MIA Philly 9/2/12, Missoula 9/30/12, Wrigley 7/19/13, Pittsburgh 10/11/13, Buffalo 10/12/13
go figure....
any other good places? maybe up in michigan a little near the lake?
I could swing a Friday. Not sure if anyone else could, though.

The Van Buren campground works for me too. Also worth checking out is Warren Dunes http://www.michigandnr.com/ParksandTrails/Details.aspx?id=504&type=SPRK It's even closer.

Agreed. Unless prohibition in the dunes is not strickly enforced, is there anywhere else decent we could go instead?

I'm down with that idea. Perhaps a beer garden, as we didn't get a chance to do that last time?
"Let's check Idaho."
Oooh I like that! Got any suggestions?
