I enjoyed the show, and the band was in great form for the first show of the tour. The setlist was a bit short, and it felt short in person.

I was a little bit disappointed in the crowd, to be honest. In the States, we hear about these legendary European crowds all the time. This crowd was solid, and would be on par with a Boston or Philly crowd, for instance, but didn't blow me away.

but not an nyc crowd

Come on J, u know MSG crowds suck!!! Lol

Keep on reading about short setlist.....

The played for nearly 2 and a half hours! I know it wasnt a "landmark show like some of the US ones (Spectrum, State College) but goddamn it was satisfying.

    Release as opener! Nuff said.

Porch was mindblowing, 4th time I've seen it. Best yet. The jam seemed to go on forever, was really cool. Mike was as ever amazing. The whole band was.

OK here goes..... only my 4th time seeing PJ, this is my version of events.

I was lower tier at the back absolutely gutted with the seats but that is problems from the past :(

The crowd was very excitable (as it should be) and the band was sharp and tight and settled in very quickly and there was mutual appreciation from band to crowd and crowd to band, the GA floor area was jumping all night long and it looked great from where I was stood (in my seat). Most of the people in the seated area were on their feet all night and towards the end of the show I looked up at the nose bleed seats and they were having a great time.

The set list was great you all know what was played so I'm not going to go through it, opening with Release was perfection and very much appreciated, then followed banger after banger! The lads threw in some big punches and saved the knock out for the encores, especially Rocking In The Free World. However Porch waaaaaay too long and Evenflow too long but Mike's guitar work was outstanding, could have got 4 more songs in there and with 1 encore break could have got another song out there. But quality Vs quantity????

ROLL ON EV LONDON 1! Got Tenclub tickets for once! :D

  • The set list will never please everyone, and for what it's worth, I thought the show FELT short, even though time wise it wasnt. But then when you're enjoying yourself everything feels short! Delighted to be able to take my son with me, and he'll never forget it.

Now, what chance they open with Ghost and Hold On tonight? I can hope right?

Edit: Ps, saw the Greece flag :)

Well, this is my third time I've seen PJ, and the first since 2000 in Glasgow. I can honestly say it was absolutely amaaaaazing. Very surprised to read that some folk were disappointed. I thought the set list was perfect - it built and built and just got better and better. Eddie was in FINE voice, I was blown away by how good he sounded actually, and the atmosphere where we were was electrifying. Everyone was singing and dancing and getting into it. My brother and I were lucky to be right down at the front, but had to move to the side after Release because of a surge of huge burly guys going absolutely mental almost knocking me over - be careful of the small ladies guys, especially if you've had a few beers, give us a chance to get out the way - a few of us were pretty terrified!

But once we were at the side, I had the best view I've ever had of a gig like this, and couldn't take my eyes off Eddie for the entire show. I thought Why Go and Nothingman were particularly mindblowing.

If I'd known it was going to be so great, I'd have got tickets for tonight as well, I'm so envious of all of you going back for more! I'm currently just off the bus home to Edinburgh, tucked up in bed with my laptop, with a lost voice, very sore feet, very happy heart and looking forward to EV solo show at the end of July. Yay!

My first PJ show since 1996. So I had to wear a mickey mouse t-shirt, not a tour shirt!, For the first show of the tour, I thought the group showed commitment and huge energy. And they were tight as always.

I was about 15 feet from the barrier during Release.. When Evolution kicked in and the surge halved my distance to the stage.. instant weightlessness and euphoria! Stayed in the pit through GTF - awesome energy in that chunk.

I needed a break from the heat sweat and funk, so saw the rest from a bit farther back.

Touch it-immortality-Got some also was a great sequence. I know I'm largely alone in liking Insignificance... the crowd doesn't seem to know how to react to it.

Porch just keeps getting better. I liked hearing Arms Aloft, but a bit disappointed that no one in the crowd knew it or even seemed to get the UK references!

Loved when Ed busted a string on Betterman, and it just seemed to rev him up further - sent him a minute later into Townsend-style windmilling and a powerful ending after a rather groovy Don't Let Me Down singalong & call-repeats.

I see a lot of posts with people complaining that this or that favorite song was not on the setlist. They played none of my 15 or so favorite tracks - but the show was awesome.

I did think it was interesting though that Boom got no mention or showcase tracks. Usually there are a couple numbers that lean heavily on the B3.

Lastnight flew solo via a scalper... Tonight got 6 seats and taking a group of my British mates.

    Can't wait!

He's big in Just Breathe i guess, but I suppose Ed does the setlists without really thinking about the organ; most of the time they'll be a song or two where it's big, occassionally it'll be a quiet night for Boom. He did get the Boom treatment when he walked on, as usual.
