Don't listen to the garbage talked - the crowd were no different to any other UK show I have been to.

People just want to be different and stand out and so talk this shit.

Get over yourself. I was one of those people, and I'm not just trying to be different. Nobody has said the crowd was bad. In fact, I specifically mentioned that it would be on par with some of the better crowds in the US. But when Ed asks "are you out there" half a dozen songs into the set, I'm not the only one thinking that the crowd as a whole is not the most energetic.

Perhaps my expectations were too high, and I should just go to Portugal next time.

As someone who was stood 4 rows back dead centre, it didn't seem like a poor crowd from there!

Can't wait for Amsterdam next Tuesday. Anyone going who fancies hooking up for a pre-gig smoke?

Huge thanks to the guys last night; made my girlfriend's day playing Come Back, carpe diem indeed Eddie!

I didn't hear him say that once.

But I was probably too busy being part of a bad crowd and struggling to find a way over myself.

Roll on tonight. I can handle if it is the same as yesterday.

He did, and it was only the second time I've heard him say anything of that nature to a crowd (the first being in Bristow, VA two years ago).

Again, I did NOT say it was a bad crowd. Just that it didn't blow me away in the way that I was hoping. Perfectly good crowd, and the problem was likely my own expectations more than anything else.

Enjoy tonight's show. I'll be there as well, and like you, be perfectly happy if the band and the crowd bring the same level of energy.

Great night, and what a way to open a show.

9th Gig, and whilst I have a fond spot for some of the others you have to admit the guys were on it from the start tonight, and bearing in mind as Eddie said they haven't played for a while they were as sharp as I have ever seen them.

As for the whole Setlist/duration discussion - every PJ show flies by they could do 50 songs and it would be over too soon for me....just seeing them live again is enough for me regardless of how many tracks they knock out.

Also wonder when was the last time a band like PJ played an Arena gig 2 days after the Dalai Lama?!?!

Wonder if they got to meet him, I am sure Mike would have been first in line?

anyway, great night and great memories....and best of all great 10C seats section 102 level with our good Greek Friends and 8 rows back from the stage, perfect view and first time I have been on Mikes Said for an absolute age - great to see him interacting so well.

Also nice to see the kids milling about the stage before the gig, gotta be a special night when you are playing in a foreign country with the kids and family watching on, Mike spent a lot of time doing little improvs for them which was nice (and obviously where we were it felt like we were kinda part of the family too ;) )

Come back soon, 2 shows is not enough, play for a week and I will be there for every night I promise....

Also not sure this whole thing about the crowd not being on it as well as last night.....Release was an EPIC start but isn't going to get the house bouncing from the start....I thought from that point the Manchester Crowd was going at it all too well........and come on guys, some of us are getting too old to bounce for 2.5 hours these days in the pit like we used to ;)

Nope, they didn't close with it in 2009 either from what I recall.....

But surely they are the only band who actually THINK what people may have heard and try and mix it up a bit next time they play....remember in the 2000 gig they didn't even drop in Alive OMFG! :)

Great for people like me who have seen it 5 times already, but bet there were some people still sat there as the arena empties thinking 'ha these fools there is a 3rd Encore in a minute...they aint played Alive yet!'

I'm still waiting for RATS and MFC......

    :)

    THIS!!

I bounced, I sang, I rocked, from the moment they came on til the moment they left. Both nights.

Just wanted to add, I really thought the whole vibe was much better the second night, but they started off full on so it set the tone. I just didn't feel Eddie sounded as into it the first night. But last night the crowd bounced from the top to the bottom, front to back.

Second night was a close tie for Belfast for me.

Regardless, I was in it, breathing it, rocking it, both nights, non stop :D

    *still on a high face*
  • yeah both nights were great Eddie did say the first night was full of accountants and bankers so he obviously thought 2nd crowd was better. :?

Ha, yes we did laugh at that comment - he def enjoyed it more last night!! Not saying it wasn't great the first night, just last night was a whole new level. Ramped up from the start.

Loved the show! Even though I'd drunk a little more than I should and had a bit of a row on the way to the MEN (apologies to the two lovely girls that I met in the pub and then bumped into again at the arena mid-way through stomping about - sorry I didn't get chance to chat again).

The set just flew by. I don't think it was particularly short, it just went so fast because I was enjoying myself. The crowd where I was (116) seemed to be really lively, not at all flat. In fact the lad that I was sat beside was jumping about so much I kept having to dodge flying arms, but I think it was the man behind me that managed to get me. I kept having a bit of a lean against my chair but that may have been alcohol induced.

The bands performance was fantastic, can't fault it. It's probably just me, but I did feel Eddie wasn't as chatty as normal, but as I said that could have just been me. Also I felt Black seemed a little more upbeat than normal - again probably just me.

PJ are the best live band ever! I'm just really kicking myself that I couldn't make night 2.

Just got back home after seeing both shows....

I was a little bit tipsy for the first night after drinking lots of different and colourful cocktails. So I was really feeling chilled and happy and totally ready to rock out :D

Release as the opener? Absolutely stellar, and Eddie honestly sounded better than I've heard him for years. Check out this video someone uplaoded: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtXYTxBN ... re=related

^^Sound is pretty good in that video, and you Eddie's vocals are absolutely SPOT ON. There's still no better way to open the show than Release.

Following into DTE just totally kicked my ass. What a way to energise a crowd so early into a show; and once again Eddie was on fire. Ferocious vocals.

Highlights - NOTHINGMAN!! PILATE!! HALF FULL! IMMORTALITY! ARMS ALOFT! COME BACK!

I also just to want to acknowledge the utter ridiculous awesomeness of Porch. The band were out to kick all our asses on that one and they sure did. Fantastic jam, just brilliant.

Come Back was also beautiful, Ed remembered more lyrics than usual haha. Emotional stuff.

Rockin' In The Free World was like one big party. I don't agree with those complaining about the crowd; everyone seemed into it from start to finish and the singalongs sounded plenty loud to me.

Amazing opening to the tour, band sounded like they were mid-tour and not warming up!

well, it was good. the set list was absolutely brilliant and there were highs and lows as per any gig you ever see. I will agree with comments about the energy but I felt that Pilate killed the vibe. Corduroy was one of the best times I've heard it, as well as insignificance.

Having said that, I wasnt particularly up for it due to a bereavement the night before. but. Thankyou stone and co for giving me another memorable night - and for making me cry during 'just breathe' - it works out just as perfectly as a good by to a loved one....

    thanks again
