I dunno, I can't see this show selling out quickly unless they add some really big acts playing below Soundgarden.
If there were "some really big acts" there, then Soundgarden wouldn't be headlining.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

I mean some decent size bands - off the top of my head QOTSA, Alice In Chains - bands that would compliment Soundgarden.0

            Yeah, I agree.
I don't know why there hasn't been more occasions when the likes of Alice In Chains, Mudhoney etc haven't been playing on the same bill as the others.
The nu-metal bands had their own tour with The Family Values Tour in the late 90s, which Korn ran. So why can't the Seattle bands get together and have something similar? It wouldn't need to just be a grunge thing either, bands like Stone Temple Pilots and Jane's Addiction would fit in just fine too.
They could just steer clear of crap like Hard Rock Calling and create their own touring festival - although it would probably make less money, it would be under their control.
Pearl Jam
Alice In Chains
Soundgarden
Jane's Addiction
Mudhoney
That, as a five band run, could easily sell out 60,000+ fans all around the US and Europe.
Matt Cameron would be very tired though! Well said sir. I'm glad to see someone being positive about this. I get so sick of hearing people judgeing gigs and venues before the actual event. Set yourself up for a good day with the right attitude and great people and if if it goes tits up, bitch and moan about it then, fair enough. If you're going to start picking holes maybe you should consider spending your money elsewhere. It's Soundgarden in the UK for the first time in years, middle of summer outdoors in a beautiful park in a great city with like minded people around you. What's not to enjoy? :
I couldn't agree more! As I say I had an awesome time when PJ played...And I never got to see Soundgarden first time around...London is just over half an hour on the train...it should be pretty good weather...I'm going to chill with a couple of beers...So what's not to like about that? I'm really looking forward to it.
I thought Pearl Jam played as well as ever in 2010, but it was just too quiet. I don't expect to go to a gig to hear other people when they are speaking at a normal level, but because the sound was so poor coming from the stage, you could hear everything all around. We moved around a few times and the sound was crap everywhere we went.
.
That's weird you thought it was too quiet...Because I was right at the front for both Reading and Hyde Park and I wouldn't have said there was an obvious difference in the sound levels between the two...and plus the hyde park boot sounds awesome!0

Yeah how sweet would that be.. Even add some other alternative 90s bands and throw in some Ben Harper 0 0

Reading was much better for sound than Hyde Park for me.
I have been to Reading eleven or twelve times and while the sound has never been fantastic, it has always been superior to Hyde Park for me.
I hope everyone that goes enjoys the show and I am sure they will. But I won't be going thanks to my personal experiences of that festival.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

Not sure the ticket sales are going well, have had quite a few reminders that there are tickets still on sale..
Also just now from gigsandtours "SOUNDGARDEN RETURN TO THE UK"...well Download has been already announced idiots. Big mistake to have got SG on the bill for Download.. if it was just Hard Rock then I presume that would have been a lot more sensible.0

I'd be surprised if they sell it out or nearly sell it out, especially if Iggy Pop and Cold Chisel are the biggest supporting acts. Having said that Cold Chisel should ensure a good Australian contingent is there. My PJ shows:
London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....0

Cold Chisel have one of the worst names for a band I have seen in a while.
Not as bad as 'Does It Offend You, Yeah?' though. But what is?Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

Bloody hell! The supporting line up is fucking woeful though, and it's been a long time since Soundgarden were a big popular band.0

P.s. ticket sales must be dreadful if they are doing this..0

Has anyone ever seen this? They must be struggling to sell these. Makes you wonder if Soundgarden weren't the 1st choice headliner or someone hasn't done their homework.
I suppose less people means more change of getting up front. Looking forward to this show!Post edited by diamond_marmalade on2007 London

            Ticket sales are dreadful.
The lineup is crap though, so it's no surprise.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

Hawk Eyes (previously Chickenhawk) are playing the second stage.
I've seen them play as a support act at a small venue and were great live. Will be interesting to see how they go down on a larger stage.0

The support lineup really is poor.
Soundgarden aren't big enough to headline such a thing and the support lineup is dire.
Pearl Jam did it justice in 2010, aside from the quiet volume, but Soundgarden just aren't big enough.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

There's nothing appealing about that line-up at all apart from Soundgarden but like at Download they should have been below a bigger headline act. There must have been a real shortage of big names for them to end up as headliners. I think part of the problem is because of the sheer number of festivals around now that it makes it much harder for promoters to get decent line-ups. HRC is not a good festival really and all the other festivals seem a bit watered down now. Soundgarden would have created a lot of interest with their own headline tour. I may be in the minority but I don't think they are particularly good live and although Cornell's voice has improved since quitting smoking it's still pretty ropey at times.Like a book among the many on a shelf...
Dublin 02 Arena - 22/6/10. Belfast Odyssey Arena - 23/6/10. London Hyde Park - 25/6/10. Berlin Wuhlheide - 30/6/10.
Manchester MEN - 20/06/12. Manchester MEN - 21/06/120

            They should have just played a couple of nights at Brixton, but they went for the dollar.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022
