As courageous as Junior Seau was on the field, he ended his life with a downright cowardly act. And he has three kids that will suffer and live without their daddy. Very sad..

Why should it be gone? These guys know it's a dangerous game....they choose to play it. All these ridiculous articles being written make it sound like these guys are forced to play football.

This is just part of the news cycle after something tragic happens, the over-reactions about it should be shutdown. There's too much money involved, it's never going to go away, just more scrutiny will mean more and more safety rules, etc. You see similar stuff when accidents happen in Nascar, Indy car, etc. It's more amazing to me that boxing, MMA, UFC, etc are still popular.

Is boxing really popular?? I always thought it was dying out at a pretty steady rate.

I'd bet there are more long term type injuries in an NFL week than I've ever heard from UFC.

To think the NFL will just be shut down or go away is quite ridiculous. I mean smoking kills way more people than the NFL and I can still buy cigarettes if I want. Changes? Probably. But going away, no.

I get it, I'm just saying this is what happens with the news cycle. Somebody will argue the extreme of one side and somebody will take the extreme to the opposite side. There were articles last night about we should ban college football. My point was that stuff like that isn't going to happen. People die in auto racing and the sport keeps going. As the studies find out more and more about the dangers of football I'm sure the sport will change and more and more parents will not want their kids playing it. But the stance that football should just be banned altogether is an overreaction. Look around this country, things that are dangerous don't get banned when there is money involved (see tobacco companies). Just my opinion on what will happen, not saying what is the right thing to do.
