Soundgarden European Tour??

Hyde Park has had it's decibel level reduced further after loads of complaints from local residents.

Fans of The Arcade Fire also complained at how low the levels were last year.

It is a joke of a venue and one I will never go to again.

It's far too quiet for me. I don't want to hear people talking while a band is playing and that is a major issue at Hyde Park. And now they have made it quieter it will be even worse.

I am hoping that they will do an indoor gig and haven't announced it yet as they don't want to interfere with the HRC ticket sale.

Have you considered wearing headphones and listening to the album... Or just not going to any gigs at all??? That's how to solve your problem.

Separately, do you ever post any positive comments? Every thread I've seen you in is you slagging off whatever everyone else is talking about... You're entitled to your opinions but try not to drown out everyone else's mmmkay?

The sound was the best I'd heard it centrally and reasonably far back for Motorhead and Foo Fighters in 2006.

It was ok for Robert Francis and The Hives in 2010, but they needed to crank it up big time for PJ. It was just way too quiet and took the edge off it for me big time. Order was restored in Arras a week later though!

I reckon Soundgarden will do a gig or two though. I don't think they'd be so selfish as to take the festival bucks only.

I was about 30 yards back on Mike's side and the sound was fine for an outdoor show, I stood in the same spot for Bruce too, again it was fine.

I dunno, I can't see this show selling out quickly unless they add some really big acts playing below Soundgarden.

Soundgarden won't sell it out, no way. The organisers obviously think they are headline material, but I am not sure many other people are.

Fair enough. It's been a long 17 years since I last saw them play live, so at this point I'd watch them pretty much anywhere near me!

Just booked my tickets for Hyde park...I'm really excited. PJ were awesome at this a couple of years ago!

Well said sir. I'm glad to see someone being positive about this. I get so sick of hearing people judgeing gigs and venues before the actual event. Set yourself up for a good day with the right attitude and great people and if if it goes tits up, bitch and moan about it then, fair enough. If you're going to start picking holes maybe you should consider spending your money elsewhere. It's Soundgarden in the UK for the first time in years, middle of summer outdoors in a beautiful park in a great city with like minded people around you. What's not to enjoy? I was at an REM show and the band were just taking the stage when this guy in front of me held up his camera and took a photo of Michael Stipe then right next to me this guy poked him in the back and shouted not to take any more pictures because he was ruining the show for everyone. He then preceded to accost everyone who lit a cigarette and tell teenage girls to get down from their boyfriends shoulders then he complained that the sun was reflecting in his eyes off something on the stage. Those are the people who normally make going to gigs unbearable but to start complaining 4 months before a show. You need a new hobby.... :roll:

Hard Rock Calling has been going on since 2006 (when it was called Hyde Park Calling) and there have been plenty of gigs there over that time as well. So it is perfectly legitimate to assess it no matter how much you say it isn't.

The sound levels have been dropped again this year because people have complained about it - even more so in 2011. Fans of The Arcade Fire complained after last year's show because the sound was so quiet.

I thought Pearl Jam played as well as ever in 2010, but it was just too quiet. I don't expect to go to a gig to hear other people when they are speaking at a normal level, but because the sound was so poor coming from the stage, you could hear everything all around. We moved around a few times and the sound was crap everywhere we went. I went with a group of mates, some of which hadn't seen PJ before, and we were having a good time. We enjoyed the sunshine, Robert Francis and The Hives and were all set for PJ. But despite their best efforts, the sound was just too quiet. And when Ed asked the crowd to all take three steps backwards, there was a lot of complaining - clearly people who had no idea about the history of the band. It goes down as my least favourite PJ show of the nine I have been to, quite easily as well.

If the setup, price and sound at that show is to your liking, then good for you, but it isn't for everyone. Both times I have been there I have come away disappointed by the volume and given that they have reduced the volume yet again this year I don't expect for a second that it'll be anything but worse.
