Contemplating Forecastle
i’ve got the ocean blue.
i’ve got a picture of you with green, green eyes
and a cocaine smile and a little worry anymore.
i’ve got a house in a court,
i’ve got a car and a door and a big left arm.
and a little worry, any more, cause i tried, i did.
sorry, you know im sorry you know i’d give you anything on a dime.
sorry again. cut your little head.
but sorry don’t mean nothin, if sorry’s still in bed.
you dont say “i’ll wait up”"FF, I've heard the droning about the Sawx being the baby dolls. Yeah, I get it, you guys invented baseball and suffered forever. I get it." -JearlPam09250 -
trying to convert a friend to MMJ, what one (she has a really short attention span) song do you guys reckon is my best option?I don't mean to offend anyone, a lot of what I say should be taken with a grain of salt... that said for most of you I'm a stranger on a computer on the other side of the world, don't give me that sort of power!0

funny story. happened to be at a store and catch a snippet of a song. just a little part of it. 3:44 to 5:05 of I Needed It Most. Specifically the stuff starting at 3:54 or so. i forget what happened but whoever was playing the record turned it off or something after that part. Had i heard the beginning of the song, or any part where you could hear Jim's voice, I would have obviously known who it was. How do you describe that part of the song though? when i heard it, i knew immediately it was an album I owned. But my cd collection is ridiculous. i have thousands of cds. I thought about posting on here, but all i knew was that snippet of the song, no words. this was maybe a month ago, and just last week, i considered that maybe i'd never hear that song the rest of my life. unless i was willing to methodically go through every single cd i owned. based on that snippet, my mind was leaning towards maybe mogwai, or explosions, beirut, bon iver, i was leaning heavily toward it being a song by an instrumental band as all i heard was instrumental. but i know those artists pretty well and couldnt come up with any song that sounded anything like the part of I Needed It Most. I was considering posting on here, just a general post, not in this thread as I didnt know it was MMJ, but saying "I heard a song and its instrumental and sounds waltzy, has a bell sounding thing, and maybe mandolins or something, sounds almost eastern european (which is why i thought beirut)". I wonder if anyone would have guessed it was this song. Anyways, I happened to pass by someone who was listening to MMJ today. Dusted off my own copy of At Dawn today, and heard it. So glad I found this album again, that part of the song is so damn pretty.
i tend to really picture MMJ as being such a perfect band to soundtrack august and september, early fall, late summer, but it sounds damn good in march!0 -

I think it was a made-up song. At first, all Al had was the melody "mm-mm him," which he then figured out was "Go with him," but the radio DJ said that wasn't the title (without saying what the title was). Al finally found a record store clerk who could tell him what it was, and he bought a vintage 45 of the song, but Kelly's boyfriend (if I recall, it was Matt LeBlanc as Vinnie Verducci, soon to be spun off into the short-lived Top of the Heap) accidentally broke it.
And there's your proof I'm an even bigger TV geek than music geek. Bet I haven't seen that episode in 15 years.0 -
