Take my 1 year old to see Ed?
So I am going to be in Salt Lake City for a cousin's wedding the weekend of April 14th-15th and I thought, hey, Albuquerque should be a short flight from there, maybe we'll extend the vacation by a day or two and go see Ed. Only problem is being far from home (Seattle) we won't have a babysitter and would have to take our 20 month old. I don't see a huge problem with this as she loves to listen to music with me and I think she would have a great time and behave herself. Also it's not the kind of show where I'd have to worry about her getting hurt or ruining her eardrums as an EV solo show would be pretty laid back. My wife is not fully on board with the idea though. What do you guys think? Good idea or bad?

Personally I think it depends on the child. Generally speaking; I think that's a bit young to bring to a concert; even if more laid back. Your child may be able to remain calm and quiet the whole show; but if your child did start crying for some reason that would be very disruptive at such a small, intimate venue.
Just something to consider. Wish you the best.

Ed solo is certainly more tame, and it beats missing the show, but definitely not ideal.September 15, 1998 Mansfield MA/ August 29, 2000 Mansfield, MA/ June 11, 2008 West Palm Beach, FL/ July 2, 2012 Prague, Czech Republic/ July 4, 2012 Berlin, Germany/ July 5, 2012 Berlin, Germany/ September 21, 2012 Pensacola, FL/ July 16, 2013 London, ON, Canada/ July 19, 2013 Chicago, IL/ October 12, 2013 Buffalo, NY/ October 25, 2013 Hartford, CT/ November 23, 2013 Los Angeles, CA/ November 24, 2013 Los Angeles, CA/ November 26, 2013 Oakland, CA/ November 29, 2013 Portland, OR/ November 30, 2013 Spokane, WA0

Honest opinion...no.
I have a 4.5 year old that I am considering taking the next opportunity and I think I'm pushing the boundaries a little at that. But she has been to theater shows and has done really well. So I think it'll be ok. And by the time I can actually get to another Ed solo, she'll be 5-7 years old anyhow.hippiemom = goodness0 -
Bad idea IMO.0

It's going to be hard..she may cry..she may want to walk/move/not want to be held and you may spend more time focusing on the baby than the show. Do you think she will be able to spend 2 + hours just sitting on your lap? You know your child best. Good luck!
I have a 2 year old and I wouldn't do it. It would be more work than fun and just not worth the expense, IMO. Also, I think the Oakland tickets had an age minimum on them so I would find out if you can even take your child into the show first before making any plans. Again if it were me, I wouldn't even consider it, but good luck man! If your wife isn't really a fan would she be up for staying in the hotel while you were at the show?2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City0 -
I think you already know the answer to the question. However, first thing I would do is check with the venue to see if it's OK. Then I would think about the person next to me and how they may not be thrilled about it even if the baby is good. Then think what if it's some drunk dude. Most of all, be prepared to leave and miss the show (and lose out on your money) if things don't go well.0

Nah my wife is a fan. Not as big as me but she wouldn't want to go to the city and not go to the show, nor would I ask her to. Thanks for the input guys, I realize my opinion might be swayed because of my desire to go to the show so honest input is good."Counts his money every morning, the only thing that keeps him horny"0

I don't recall seeing small children at EV at Benaroya. It is a very 'intimate' show...Ed speaks softly, and even from 4th row I had difficulty hearing him. (yes, I do have hearing issues as well)
I would not like to be the person sitting next to a squirmy fussing child at a show like that. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

I hope you're joking. Bringing a 1 year old to a rock concert is bad enough, but these solo shows are a quiet, well-behaved (mostly) event. Not a place for a baby to sit still and not make noise till 10:30 at night. Personally if someone brought a baby and sat next to/behind me at a show like that, I'd probably wanna kill that person all night by the end of it. Not appropriate.

Honestly, not the responses I thought I'd get. Usually everyone here is all about doing whatever it takes to go see the show. It must be a really bad idea. Alright, I get it, thanks for being my voice of reason"Counts his money every morning, the only thing that keeps him horny"0

I'm going to side with the Misses on this one. Pass on the Eddie gig, the kid would be miserable there and you will be miserable as you get nagged, non-stop from airport to airport.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!
