It is not going to benefit the child. Think about your baby at home. Does she sit in one place for 2 hours when she is awake? It will just frustrate you to not be able to focus on the show.

You know you're child better than us but you can't seriously think taking your 1 year old daughter to a concert is a good idea.

  • I would not dream of taking my 1 year old to an EV show...she'd be yelping and squealing the whole time and pointing to everything and saying "What's that?" or "This!"

Should Ed simply spout off with a "fuck" here and a "fuck" there, would this child be apt to repeat it?

I think it would disturb people around you and most likely you'd have to leave early because the child will get tired and fussy.

    I wouldn't do it.

I was second row for the final Spectrum show and I wanted to KILL the woman in front of me who brought her toddler.

So that would be a big fat NO from me
Don't come closer or I'll have to go

Sod it I'm gonna go against the grain.

    Go for it.

If she starts getting a little cranky, just take her towards the back for a bit.

If the house rules don't state no under 16's etc... then what's the problem.

You're never gonna get complete silence at a gig.

If your little girl is well behaved then you'll be fine.

Don't be put off. Have fun!

So I am going to be in Salt Lake City for a cousin's wedding the weekend of April 14th-15th and I thought, hey, Albuquerque should be a short flight from there, maybe we'll extend the vacation by a day or two and go see Ed. Only problem is being far from home (Seattle) we won't have a babysitter and would have to take our 20 month old. I don't see a huge problem with this as she loves to listen to music with me and I think she would have a great time and behave herself. Also it's not the kind of show where I'd have to worry about her getting hurt or ruining her eardrums as an EV solo show would be pretty laid back. My wife is not fully on board with the idea though. What do you guys think? Good idea or bad?

    Horrible Idea.

Are you fucking kidding me? What a selfish way of thinking. That's pure attention seeking, by the way, to bring a kid just to get something from Ed.

See I expected to get a few more comments like this. I don't think it would be the train wreck that people think, maybe I just have too much confidence in my daughter. She is the best after all. If she acted up, of course we'd take her out into the hall instead of ruining it for everyone else. She is a big music fan, since we don't like her watching TV we pretty much have music going whenever we're at home and she sings and dances and LOVES it. In fact she's starting a music class for toddlers today. That said, we're not going to try it because I would hate to spend all that money for travel and hotel and then have to miss half the show attending to my toddler. Can't wait till this summer to take her to Bumbershoot though! Thanks for the opinions guys, it was an honest question and after deliberating and reading your responses I think it's just not worth the risk.

And for those who said "get a babysitter" that is not an option. I'm not going to leave my daughter with someone I've never met in a city I've never been in. I'd feel much more comfortable taking her to the show! It was either take her or miss the show. We will have to miss the show :(

  • It's sweet that you want to share your love for pj and ed with her but at one she will have no memory of the experience at all, so that's something you might want to wait to do until she's old enough to appreciate it. if you decided to go anyway and stay in a hotel alot of them offer babysitting services. Something to consider if you have your heart set on going.

Edit: sorry, posted this just as you posted your last comment about the sitter. Totally understandable. I have a little boy and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving him with a stranger in a strange city either!

A fellow smoking baby suggested leaving the baby with coat check..Does that work? Perhaps they can chill together while you and your wife enjoy the show.
