I was really looking forward to the six month follow up album Mike talked about with Backspacer leftovers.. Guess its gonna be 3+ years again for the new album.. I wish they could be more spontaneous like Neil.. Maybe we're spoiled. :?Gmoney wrote:

Quantity and quality were both an issue on the last album. Well, sorta...Hypothetically if BS was up to PJ's standards it would've been too short. Since it wasn't all that great 37 minutes was plenty.

I would think that the touring as much as they do would be what's slowing down the album process. Of course if they toured less to make more albums more often then people would complain about that.
Greatest band in the world, yet they can't win. Reminds me of Louis CK bit. "Everything is amazing and no one is happy"Alpine Valley 06-13-99 [EV-Solo]

What makes you guys think that Backspacer is an album which hasn't some thought put into it and conclusively isn't a qualitative work? Just give a good listen to Just Breathe, Amongst The Waves, Unthought Known, Speed Of Sound, Force Of Nature and The End. I'm talking about the half album here.Post edited by Pap onAthens 2006 / Milton Keynes 2014 / London 1&2 2022 / Seattle 1&2 2024 / Dublin 2024 / Manchester 2024 / New Orleans 20250 -
Agree to disagree here! With the exception of what they did to Speed Of Sound between the demo and the official release, I actually think Backspacer is a seriously well-composed pop album.DewieCox wrote:igotid88 wrote:Pap wrote:It's not about the quantity, it's about the quality.

To me backspacer is simple and boring. Individually, Eddie had some nice songs, Unthought, Just Breathe, The End. As a unit, pearl jam is much much much much much better than backspacer. It has no depth to me, no meaning like all the other pj albums do. Its fun I guess, but who wants a "fun" album from pearl jam?!!! I want something that exploits the creative genius that is pearl jam.Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...0

I hate to agree with you on this, but I think you're right.
Now lets just pray that we get more Stone written music and more Mike soaring solos than Backspacer had.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -

Just Breathe, Amongst the Waves and The End are ok, nothing really great imo.
Unthought Known is awful. The intro of LBC mixed with horrid lyrics.
I think Johnny Guitar, FoN, and SoS are actually really good. Pretty good or at least somethin new sonically...Some really great lyrics on Force, and maybe the coolest arrangement of any of their simpler punk-type songs in Johnny Guitar0 -

Let's not forget that Matt has a second job. I read somewhere (I think on the Grunge report) that 2012 can expect to see new albums from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and AIC. So, Matt's a busy dude. While difficult, we need to be realistic and understanding.0

Look at that price. Can we stop the "10c price gouging" talk now?0

Heh. Amazon wants me to open a store card account (which I just closed one a while ago) in order to save $10 off Lightning Bolt.
Apparently, the only thing different is the exclusive "TBA" content coming in October...the physical packaging appears to be the same.Post edited by Lost In Ohio onPresidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -

Thats a price holder really. Amazon will charge you the cheapest price between now and release day. All youre doing is locking in a maximum price. Itll drop five bucks or so. Always does.0 -
It'll get cheaperI miss igotid880
