Well for your membership fee you get quite a bit more than just a chance for tickets. Some members have really forgotten that here and it's disappointing. This forum is awesome and for me is worth the membership fee annually. Throw in the PJ radio instead of a monthly satellite subscription and it quickly becomes a steal.

Well let's see, the forum used to be free - and like you it is the main reason I bother paying for it because I like to be able to chat to like minded people. Other than that you get the chance to buy limited merchandise (let's not open up that can of worms!), a small magazine and a vinyl single which in all probability you could pick up on ebay for much cheaper than a membership. Oh and PJ radio, you got me there....although I can listen to a Pearl Jam mega mix on my PC quite easily.

I hate to say this because I never want anyone to leave but you do realize you hold the ultimate power correct? You can just not renew at any point. Your date comes up, show the Club exactly how disatisfied you are and walk away.

Obviously, we get so much more than just the ability to buy tickets. But for a lot of people, the tickets are the best part of the 10c membership. The fact that the ticket sales have been so poorly handled over the last year is so frustrating. I wasn't even involved in the debacle for these European shows, but it still pisses me off. I really hope they get their shit together w/ the ticket sales before the next US tour or else there will just be much more of the same around here. While some people do cross the line, most of the complaining is completely warranted.

I think for many people, myself included, it is not just that the ticket sales have been handled so poorly. It is that the communication has been handled so poorly. It took more than 24 hours for Tim to release any sort of statement regarding the Europe debacle, and when that statement came there was not even a whiff of an apology to the people who had been left hanging during that time. And since that statement there has been not another official word from the home office. Personally, I do not think there will be anything else said. No results of the "investigation", certainly no "saboteur" being brought to justice.

This is what infuriates many of us. And DS119 is absolutely correct when he says that we don't know all of the facts and cannot be completely sure exactly what has happened. But that is why we need to keep at this, to keep letting 10C know how unhappy we are, how it feels like they simply do not care about how poorly handled this was. If we all go back to being happy members on the board this will get swept under the rug and nothing will change. That should not be acceptable to anyone.

  • I don't actually think even the most die hard I love ten club people are wanting to brush it all under the rug; but surely all the possible negative comments that can be made have been made? The european tickets are done with it can't be changed.
As for not a whiff of apology I don't think that's true ... and more important than updating us immediately I would have thought was trying to figure out what the fuck was going on so that there was something to update us with (granted possible sabotage wasn't exactly the message to appease people).
The fact that they did move across to crowdsurge for this presale, even if it didn't work, is evidence to me that they are trying to address the issue of what happened earlier in the year. Like i said it didn't work, which sucks, but you can't possibly think they're ignoring the issue
I don't mean to offend anyone, a lot of what I say should be taken with a grain of salt... that said for most of you I'm a stranger on a computer on the other side of the world, don't give me that sort of power!

The no apology is true. "With apologies, Ten Club" was edited into the statement after it was posted. It also represented the absolute bare minimum Tim could say to people who he had left hanging without info for more than 24 hours. Again, this is why I think communication is the biggest issue. And I say this as someone who has a hard time buying the sabotage excuse. Maybe if I did believe that it wouldn't have come across to me the way it did.

Do I think they are ignoring the issue? I...don't know. I really don't. And I don't think they will tell us.

Do I think they are hoping this all blows over? Yes I do.

Well, I must admit to being curious. Very. Never disrespectful, mind you. Just curious as someone new to the club & learning. How many are here just for tickets? And if one is here for that specific purpose, holy man, any announcement must send one's blood pressure into oblivion. From the posts I've read, the experience of members, the camaraderie of many, I'm gathering the first few dozen rows at any particular show are filled with familiar faces...show after show...tour after tour. Thats one hell of alot of shows from one band, lucky. Anyway, & yet, after watching countless hours of footage, tapes, DVD's etc over the years, I still see this band performing with the same love for the music & exuberance every single time. I cannot for the life of me see how they don't care about what is going on with ticket sales. Hmmm...I read, somewhere along the way, that there were tickets being scalped almost immediately. Vinyls flipped, Blue-rays flipped, missing (stolen?) to be flipped?? This band is huge business, scalpers know it, flippers know it. They know it because of the amount of frustration & anger shown. Hey, I'm just a girl (DeadManWalking? yep, a girl, but thanks, I think I like you too ;) ) but, as someone looking at this with total impartiality (i'll get my tickets elsewhere as I am short indeed), I find it incredibly hard to believe there wasn't some sort of nefarious deed at work. As for the band, 10c, not caring...WHAT?? Are ya kiddin'? I have never, in all my years of concert attending & music love seen a band more in tune with their fans. Period.
Really, there is alot here I find disturbing, ie. band-bashing, members hunting down & reposting crap threads from years ago, member on member bashing & those who ruin a great thread with mean spirits or negativity. And I don't mean sarcastic wit or a good ribbing, of which many are greatly amusing. I see alot more good stuff than not.
I will say, again, I get it. I know disappointment & frustration...unabashed fiends that they are. I feel multitudes of frustration, compassion & a desire for ticket sales to work in fan club favour, in fellowship. My good conscience weeps for the dismay.
One might think, as well, that something of this magnitude could not be explainable in a day or two. The rocket was on the launchpad, it was 10...9...time. Horrible, yes but PJ is still coming.
    Levity....brevity....both far underrated.
And P.S. to DS1119...lived the horror of automotive feeder plant destruction up here near Detroit...um...if we ever move to NY & your hiring, I may need a job...promise, no BITCHIN'...well, only about the beer ..K?

  • Let's say pre-sales stopped and many, many people left. Would they come back in droves if the pre-sales came back? Suddenly my three-times-lapsing, crappy-member-number having ass would have a better chance a OK seats cause I won't be leaving....

This is like, the biggest factor here. It's not about the bitching. It's the entitlement issues. Since fans refuse to compromise their issues with entitlement, then they should recognize their choices here, because we've been complaining for years for better service with little being done. At this point, fans need to realize that they have two choices here:

    a. Deal with it.
    b. stop paying 10c your god damn money.

I don't like that mentality around here.... (no disrespect at all)

But.. you know folks around here keep saying "deal with it.." "if you don't like it then leave"

We just want to speak our minds here. And those should not be the only choices we have. I think if we all thought that way, 10C would have so much power they wouldn't need to care or be held accountable for anything.

Yeah there is a lot of bitching around here and some of it completely unnecessary... but I'm also seeing a lot of folks who are just ultra devoted and love the band and 10C unconditionally.

I think there are a lot of folks on here who think: "I don't care...do what you want 10C... I love you.. I'll never complain... you're perfect no matter what you do.... and if those complainers don't feel the same way.. then they can leave!"

If I was a business.. I would love all of my customers to be that way!!! It would make things REALLY easy. No accountability.

I'm all for voicing opinions. What I meant when I wrote that is that many people have been voicing their opinions about the business style and misgivings of the club for a long time now. It's clear that they don't care what we think. We cannot change the way 10c does business. Therefore we have those 2 choices I mentioned. They're not appealing, I know. But as fans, we're not entitled to anything here. We need to recognize and shift our perceptions of the organization to making the right choices for ourselves. They do not deserve unconditional love but the problems are not completely theirs when the fan base is too large to please everyone. I actually worry about fans who devote their undying love to 10c and/or the band. It's completely unhealthy. There's a real lack of the fans' potential to look at themselves as being part of the big picture problem here. If collectively we accepted that there cannot be a 10c ticket for everyone who wants one, the problem would be partially solved.
