The same members who in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995 when tickets weren't a perk of the club. All we got were the single, newsletter, and a brochure to buy merchandise.

How many fan club members was there in the early 90's?....This is 2011....There is one reason why there is so many in the fan club now....TICKETS!!!!

    Jeremy

And that's part of the problem; an overwhelming amount of people attacking a system to get precious and limited tickets. I do see these problems as a beginning to an end of what we know of things to be right now. These problems can't continue. The number of people demanding entitlement is overwhelming, as well as a server not being able to handle the insane traffic, sabotage, or whatever. I bet things are going to change, and I don't think it'll be more 10c tix to be had. The demand for tickets and 10c's inability to please everyone is totally insane. And I am not defending 10c here. I'm just observing how the fans are part of the problem in the grand scheme of things.

I hate that that's the way you feel. For my 40 bucks or whatever it is I get PJ Radio which is definately worth something. I get access to these forums with other awesome PJ fans which is definately worth something. I get a Christmas single which is worth something. I get a newsletter which is worth something...see what I'm getting at. 40 bucks a year is a couple of cases of beer. Let the powers that be explore what went wrong this time. Pushing their buttons and calling for people's heads isn't going to change what happened already.
Yeah, very good. For $50 international fee you do get a download file of a show, good enough I guess. Deep mags and vinyls are really a matter of taste and most of us don't even have a record player. The analog t-shirt is a pretty poor effort, who would know what it even means to look at it? I love the forums for sure but most people want a chance to get priviledge tickets for being a paid member of this fanclub and to see the whites of the band's eyes, not be stuck next to the ceiling! $50 also gets you a chance to get loads of overpriced merch if you're quick/wealthy enough to get funds for and if you happen to take a holiday you probably woldn't know about it anyway unless you're bosom buddies with Santos on Facebook. The powers that be are running out of excuses so fast that they are hiding behind a shield until they can come up with an answer ridiculous enough that someone might actually believe it. I don't think calling for heads is fully justified but in other walks of life you wouldn't get away with with some of the incompetence we see here. We have a right to push their buttons, it's called consumers rights. We have a product description of the membership privileges in the goods section but when the most important aspect of that goes unfulfilled time after time do we just sit around and accept that maybe this fanclub is very poorly managed in comparison with many other bands organizations or do we put our freedom of speech to use and try to vent our feelings and deliver what we believe the solutions are to the problems. Too many people defend 10c for reasons only known to them but if you were to buy a boot with a song missing you'd be the first to start a Song X Missing From Show X WTF!!!!! thread or try to blame 10c because your mailman is a disrespectful asshole. Nothing gets explained properly by the people whose wages you are paying! We are effectively shareholders surely? I love Pearl Jam, the music, boots, shows etc and these forums have brought me much joy and new friendships and I'll continue to pay my fees. It doesn't mean I have to pretend that it's good value for money and entering a pre-sale in several hours with every other Tom, Dick or Harry makes me feel like a bit of a mug to be honest...

Exactly. We better ease of the gas here as members our the frickin motor is going to blow. What happened happened and hopefully over the winter things can be addressed but blasting the club with thread after thread right now is just not good.

There was a Ten CLub for five years before they had any ticket offers and pretty much before the boom of the internet. If they turn their direction toward merchandise they could keep going just as easily as they are now without listening to people bitching about tickets. You have looked at Ebay correct? All that limited edition stuff? You do see what it sells for correct? What if the Ten Club just did away with tickets and doubled the price of merchandise and/or started selling on Ebay directly? You don't think they can make up for the lost membership dues? In fucking spades they could.
  • If tickets were to disappear from 10 club I know I will still be a member.
Granted I've only been here for a few years but I've been going to shows since 2000 (I'm young  )
Being from europe I had the massive wait for them to play here between 2000 and 06. After the 09 tour I joined the club thinking that there's no way they would be back so soon after playing here 06,07,09 but then they came back in in 2010. The pre-sale was great but I was a member not expecting shows. After the 2010 tour I knew it would be 3 or 4 more years but no they're back again! :D
I guess my point is that I'm a european member who is expecting to not see them over here for a while yet I renew for other reasons.
It's nice to get the vinyl and magazine through the door. Opening the envelope with the seattle address kind of feels old school, like it's being run from one of their friends bedrooms. Plus this year we got new perks in the shape of a tshirt (alright so there's debate over the design but next year's could be awesome), PJ radio which I regularly have on in the background, a free bootleg download coupon (still haven't picked which one to go for yet maybe the canada one when REM split up or maybe hold out for alpine valley), some nice exclusive merch (not all is limited, look at the 10 of clubs hoodie I wear that almost daily), I managed to get the deluxe version of the PJ20 film not available elsewhere too.
If there wasn't a tour this year I would have still felt that the membership fee was worth it this year.

Kind of take offense to this. I have actually never posted anything bashing the fan club other than the price of the PJ20 book which was cheaper else where, so you know what I did, I purchased it elsewhere. I may joke which is my nature, but I have never out right bitched about the club, you know why? I have the right to walk away at anytime like anyone else. They aren't holding me here. What they offer me is something much more than tickets and what some people call cheap merchandise. This forum is well worth the membership fees. I have talked about things with members here over the past ten months that I haven't talked about with my friends or family. I see people getting random gifts and donations from other members in times of need. I read stories daily here of people going through tough times and be lifted up by other members. That shit is priceless to me. Not the bitching. If a member thinks something is overpriced...don't buy it. You have no use for the Christmas single, send it to someone who can appreciate it. If people don't understand your analog shirt, screw it who cares?? I feel the Ten Club will figure this out.

It definitely feels like this club is run from a bedroom. Also, I think its nice that they play Europe, but jeez it seems to be more than the US and we've still got states they've never played in their 20 years. Maybe I"m just upset because its been 5 years since I've gotten the chance to see the band, especially since I'm in Alaska right now and they probably never will tour here. I just shake my head when people who've seen the band 10, 20, 30, 40 times get so worked up about missing out on tix. Must be real rough.

Who knows...could be an email from the TenClub saying something like "We are pleased to announce a 14 show US Pearl Jam tour this fall. Unfortunately the Ten Club will not be able to offer pre-sale tickets. Enjoy LiveNation. We would like to point out that we have a Limited Edition Blue Ray and DVD deluxe set from Alpine Valley weekend available for purchase for $399. If you think that's too much you can try your luck on Ebay. The bidding starts there at $350. Enjoy the tour"!

    I agree.

Do a look-up on what the limited vinyl edition of Live at Benaroya Hall goes for lately? I saw bids posted as high as $700 to $800+ for it; and as I recall, that was only available to 10C members.

Lots of 10C members sell their vinyl and other merchandise on eBay, Discogs, etc for way more than they bought it for, so it does pay to be a 10C member; I too would be curious as to how much the 10C could make if they were ever to take that path (with pre-sale tickets included.)

    Lots of $$$$$.

I can honestly say I'm not a member for the faint hope I might get 10c tix. Living in Australia means there is very rarely an opportunity to take advantage of these sales.

I've been a member for going on 9 years and have only ever gotten 10c tix twice back in '06. I'm heading over for Europe next year and will be just as happy with regular tix.

I think there would be alot of members in the same position as me.

I think you dramatically underestimate the passion of PJ fans quite frankly.
