I'm very late to this ' Black Keys party. Picked up El Camino with an itunes gift card and I think it's a great album.

I really should have got to MSG early both nights back in 2010.

Question: Should I pick up Rubber Factory or Brothers next ?

    Enjoy. Have a great day.

Rubber Factory and Brothers!! Both compeletely different, but awesome. I would say RF though.

They actually only played the first night and were awesome!!! The reason why I started listening to them is because of that show.

  • The initial excitement for this album is already thinning for me. I still thinks its a nice change and Sister, Gold on the Ceiling and Little Black Submarine are solid. I spun Thickfreakness this morning and I remembered what I fell in love with about the Keys in the first place. Still good, but already fading for me........

My mistake. A missed opportunity nonetheless. Take care.

Attack & Release and Thickfreakness are my favs. Add them to the short list :)

Im having a hard time getting over the Petty rip off in Little Black Submarines on El Camino. My favorite song on the album, with an asterisk. I think Petty will be cashing in on that one. He thought RHCP's Dani California sounded like Mary Janes Last Dance- this seems like an even more blatant rip off imo.

Just heard this last night and love it. I am enjoying the straight up rock direction, even if I got into them due to their bluesy sound. I think if they kept making blues records without a break I would have tired of them by now. Great that they are staying creative. I believe that MSG (general admission! Woo!) will be my 9th Black Keys show, and I am hoping that they will have more length to the show.

In the meantime, if I had to rank the albums, it would go something like:

    The Big Come Up
    El Camino
    Brothers
Rubber Factory (all 4 of these extremely close)
    Attack & Release
    Thickfreakness
    Chulahoma
    Magic Potion

If I included BlakRoc, it would be near the bottom, and if I included Dan's solo album Keep It Hid, I might put ahead of all of these.

Nice! I thought about picking up Portland tickets during the Keys pre-sale, but since the CCCC show is GA I figured it wouldn't be hard to get a ticket and bought Boston tickets instead. Even if it sells out a ticket shouldn't be hard to get. Gotta love GA shows!

Seen both bands solo...should be great combo!

not bad on prices- i still cant believe they're playing arenas though.

and dont worry johnnyabruzzo - ive been clicking "try again" non stop since 10:02 :x

Anyone who is going - Don't miss the Arctic Monkeys!! Ive seen The Black Keys before and they were far less than impressive. I was hoping to give them a chance to redeem themselves, while getting to see a band that i missed out on seeing at House of Blues. Arctic Monkeys are fucking awesome. study up and get in early!!

Im officially giving up on the presale. Hope this helps

I've heard/read this a few times. What is it exactly that is not good about them? Short sets? Don't sound good? I'm excited to see them, but not trying to get my expectations to high because of poor reviews.

I have heard that the Arctic Monkeys are great though. Looking forward to seeing them.

This album just keeps getting better with each spin. I love these guys.

I have heard that the Arctic Monkeys are great though. Looking forward to seeing them.

Saw them last year, right before Brothers came out at Brown University's Spring weekend (I had a leak of the album, so was familiar) but they didnt play any Brothers songs. They were QUIET. I could easily talk to the person next to me, which is not my idea of a rock concert. I've heard other people say that they play really loud, but I was not witness to that. The crowd was not into it at all, which may have had an affect on the show, it was the last day of their Spring weekend and all, but, if anything I think that would have made them play even harder!

Funny thing is, we were really going to see TBK, but the student we bought out tix off of made us take a package deal - MGMT tix for the day before too. MGMT showed TBK up big time and put on an awesome show. I didnt like them as much till I saw them live...so Im really glad we got to see MGMT too, so the weekend wasnt a complete bust.

Im guessing they'll have a phantom bass player this time around though. It was just Dan & Patrick when I saw them last year, so that should help...they'll need it to fill the arenas. Wish I got another shot at a small club show, but wasnt too familiar w/ them before last year. I hope they debunk all the bad reviews though - for those prices, you better get a good show!

got my tix for the philly show :D Floor/GA Only thing that sucked was they charged for mailing ($5.00 and $2.75 if you wanted to print them out at home) :?

As far as The Black Keys live I think they are very energetic. First time was when Attack & Release came out I saw them at the Electric Factory. I thought they were good. Except I didn't really knew any of the songs they played (at the time only had Magic Potion and Attack/Release). Second time was last summer at Penn's Landing and saw them this past summer at the Outside Lands Festival. I thought they rocked the shit of the park.

I've been an Arctic Monkeys fan longer than a Black Keys. Arctic Monkeys are also good live. Johnny you didn't like their first album :o That's probably their best album. So if you don't like that you may not like their other albums.

Yeah I just don't get it.

Check out Humbug. I dont care for their first album much either and this one is very different. (Co-produced by Josh Homme...has Queens of the Stoneage undertones...probably why I like it so much...Im a huge Queens fan)

This album is amazing. So many great songs. Should complement their other material well when preformed live!

I've been an Arctic Monkeys fan longer than a Black Keys. Arctic Monkeys are also good live. Johnny you didn't like their first album :o That's probably their best album. So if you don't like that you may not like their other albums.

Yeah I just don't get it.

That sounds promising. I'm playing the QOTSA vinyl as we speak. ;)
