    i wonder how hanley ramirez is gonna respond to moving to 3rd.....

    If anything it means Raul's definitely gone. Classy move by him to let the Phils offer him arbitration and then decline it(from what I've read/heard that is what's happening).

    I always thought they'd move Hanley to center.

    It'll make it tough for him to get a deal - nobody's going to give up a draft pick for him are they?

    It's a cheap signing, and he should be a decent platoon option. Improvement on last year's LF as well.


    Probably have to give J-Roll 5 years in light of the Reyes contract, huh?

    Have they said the dollars yet? I haven't seen it. I guess it's an improvement but the guy doesn't even have a .300 OBP.

    I don't know. I wouldn't. Reyes had an average of .337 compared to Rollins OBP of .338, last year. I wouldn't go near 5 years. I'm pretty suprised Reyes only signed for 6 years, doesn't seem like it since he's been in the league for so long, but he's only 28.

    And the NL East is looking to get a lot tougher in the coming years. Marlins seem like they are serious, Braves have some really good young pitching and the Nationals have some serious potential and are willing to spend. Could get interesting.

    Would be another 3-4 year contract to a player who will be 34 next season. Phillies gotta get younger, I wouldn't like it.

    I assumed trade him. Not sure a team would be willing to pay him $6.5 milion though.

    •Amaro's recent meeting with Rollins' agent Dan Lozano "did not go all that well," hears Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com. Rollins is not backing off his desire for a five-year deal, which led the Phillies to inquire about Aramis Ramirez. Yahoo's Steve Henson also hears Lozano and the Phillies are not on the same page about Rollins.

    Yeah, I saw that, plus this: "Buster Olney dials in to the Twitter machine to bring you this update:

    Phillies said to be very down on polanco because of injuries, lack of pop."

    I'm sure they'd have to eat a good portion of Polanco's salary, but I'm cool with that if they make this splash.

    On top of it, I think I'm at the point where I really wouldn't mind if they didn't bring Jimmy back.

    Bench bat, no real risk. The Phillies really like getting shit done early though. One less suitor for the Yanks to compete with for Andruw Jones.

    Would you guys prefer Ramirez/whoever at shortstop or Rollins/Polanco? Looking at WAR, it would tell you to go with a combination of Rollins/Polanco over Ramirez/replacement level? Fangraphs hates Ramirez's defense. Ramirez is obviously a much better bet over the next 4 years offensively than Rollins. Interesting situation.

    Edit: WAR heavily favors Rollins/Polanco to Ramirez/Valdez. Ramirez is clearly the best hitter in the bunch though.

    i'm kinda leaning towards ramirez/replacement (hopefully not wilson valdez) just to kick start the offense. polanco misses way too much time. i still they'll come to terms with jimmy though.


    looks like gillick would like for the phils to go after george sherrill. hopefully ruben listens to him there.
