One year... I was going to hang my Christmas lights (like I always did)... I run the extension cord to the outlet first to make sure there is enough slack so the first bulb is on the corner of the eave. Then, toss the ball of lights up on the roof so I can string them along the roof line, right?
Well, I forgot that I lent my ladder to my friend who lives up in Pasadena... which is a ways away... for a lazy guy like me, he might as well been living in Egypt. So, I went and did other stuff instead.
...
About a week later... my neighbor came by and asked with a sense of concern in her eyes, "Cosmo. Are you all right?". "Sure. Why?"
"Well, your Christmas lights...".
Turns out... i totally forgot about the tangled ball of lights on the corner of my roof. I had the extension cord plugged into an outlet with a timer on, so every night... this tangled ball of lights lit up. I never saw them because I come from work around the far corner.
Anyway, i kinda like how punk rock they looked so that's how I decorate my home for Christmas.
...
Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas is kind of irrelevant to me personally, since I don't believe in god. Its just kind of 'out there' and something that other people do. I look forward to the time off. My parents, aunts and uncles are dead, and my own family aren't christians.
I do sponsor a fundraiser for the town holiday fund for the poor, at my business however, because I believe it must really suck to be a kid, with an expectation of gifts from santa and to get nothing, and not know why. I feel it is an investment in future society, if some kids grow up a little bit happier.R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.

I find Christmas a bit less fun now that the boys are growing up. They don't want toys anymore (except maybe a video game). :?
I used to enjoy toy shopping for the kids when they were younger. More than that, I liked hiding the toys around the house in December, and they used to like looking for them!!
Now, it all seems a bit more dull... but I still enjoy decorating the house with a pine tree and colored lights though.&&&&&&&&&&&&&&0 -
My favourite part is seeing family, getting together with friends (for my 3rd annual Festivus party), having a little too much to drink, and just generally enjoying each others company. I'm a big fan of decorating the house, and this year with a steady girlfriend, it adds a whole other layer of people I meet/spend time with. I'm not a religious person, so that part doesn't effect me, but just spending time with friends and family, playing some music, good food, good drinks, good time!Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. It's way overdone.
I think we need to put a little more effort into Ground Hog Day.
But really, I don't like Christmas unless it's December 25th... actually, I prefer Christmas Eve, because as a youth, that was the most exciting. Once you've finished opening your gifts on Christmas Day it's down hill. The magic is gone.0 -

Christianity is redundant.
And Christmas is just a greed-fest.
Christmas Day for me in China will consist of going to a hotel restaurant, eating some nice food, and drinking a lot of booze.
I won't be celebrating a 2000 year old synthetic Middle Eastern cult and the myth of the birth of somebody who never actually existed.
I'll just be celebrating the fact that I get a couple of days off work.0 -

December 25th has to do with the sun rising one degree back from it's lowest mid-day point in the sky (astronomical winter December 21st or 22nd). It symolizes rebirth.. so drink to that!
Southern hemisphere should be celebrating in June. :PPost edited by LikeAnOcean on0 -
has anybody seen the movie "Legion" there was a line in the movie that I that was interesting..kinda ,
a man says I don't believe in God while talking to the Arc Angel David and David calmly turns to him and says
" that dosent matter anymore because he dosen't believe in you anymore either."

I read so much generalization here ...
because Christmas is not in your heart don't assume it is in no ones.
Don't assume everyone is greedy and celebrating something that means nothing
because it means nothing to you.
At least acknowledge there are those who give at Christmas and all year long
and enjoy the holiday for the joy it brings, the family ties shared, the memories
made.
Acknowledge those who believe in Christ as their Savior, in the profound
way they lives their lives, in the meaning of Christmas to them.
Acknowledge it is a fun time for children, find the joy in a child and their Christmas tree,
simple things.
I guess there will always be Scrooges but I think one can learn something from that story too.0 -

Apparently George W. Bush and Dick Cheney believe in Jesus. Do you think these people live profound lives, or that they follow the example of Jesus?
Or are you just making it up as you go along?0 -
