Like, during Christmas time... we feel good about adopting a needy family and providing to the single mother and her 3 small children... in the 'Christmas Spirit'.
After Christmas... she is transformed back to a stupid little whore that can't keep her legs together and is bilking off of my hard earned pay.
    ....
That kind of shit... causes Jesus to weep.

Yep. Thanks for proving my point exactly!

Like the gal at work that is always bitching about the 'Mexican, stealing our jobs' that hangs the 'Good Will Towards Men' banner on her cubicle. I ask her if it's towards ALL men... or just the ones here in America.
You know, just to give her a hard time.

Nope. People come who are prejudice and judgmental the rest of year use Christmas for their shallow needs of looking like they give a damn once a year.

    And that's wrong.

    I generally enjoy Christmas time....

but watching the holiday through the "eyes" of my children brings me the greatest of joy. I seem to go back to a time of innocence and the excitement that my kids bring seems to rub off onto me....

I love the first snow fall,
the smell of pine trees and baking cookies
the christmas lights as I walk around my neighborhood
those silly christmas songs that I seem to play for the entire month of Dec. :D

My favorite Christmas toy as a child... a stuffed Santa that plays 'Santa Claus is coming to Town'
    I received when I was about 5

it sits upstairs on the sitting room couch today
and is 51 years old this year.
my Santa...a cheery rubber face, his nose chewed on a bit, with a soft beard,
a little corduroy outfit and a shiny black belt and boots.
Turn the key in the back to hear the tune which now works very slow
but brings a tear each year.

I think of my Uncle Tony ... who brought it to me
a chubby Italian man who always gave us girls a dollar when he visited
He dressed like Santa that year and brought my Santa toy.
    I love him.

This is also Christmas .. memories from long long ago
memories one can really hold, even a lifetime later

God bless Uncle Tony ... God bless Christmas :D

    Am I alone here?

The older I get the less I like Christmas time. I don't get depressed or anything, I just see it as a diversion and an obligation to spend money. It's what it's become that bothers me; the need to go shopping, the obligation to giving lots of gifts which is usually a bunch of stuff that no one needs. The media shoving the commercialism down our throats. The radio stations playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving. I've resorted to calling the holiday "Giftmas" because that's how society has exploited the holiday.

If we could just get back to the basics of being kind, respectful and peaceful; what the holiday is supposed to mean, I may be more in the spirit.

    I totally agree!

One year... I was going to hang my Christmas lights (like I always did)... I run the extension cord to the outlet first to make sure there is enough slack so the first bulb is on the corner of the eave. Then, toss the ball of lights up on the roof so I can string them along the roof line, right?
Well, I forgot that I lent my ladder to my friend who lives up in Pasadena... which is a ways away... for a lazy guy like me, he might as well been living in Egypt. So, I went and did other stuff instead.
    ...
About a week later... my neighbor came by and asked with a sense of concern in her eyes, "Cosmo. Are you all right?". "Sure. Why?"
    "Well, your Christmas lights...".
Turns out... i totally forgot about the tangled ball of lights on the corner of my roof. I had the extension cord plugged into an outlet with a timer on, so every night... this tangled ball of lights lit up. I never saw them because I come from work around the far corner.
Anyway, i kinda like how punk rock they looked so that's how I decorate my home for Christmas.
