Yeah! Why is breakfast food mainly for breakfast? I'm always up for breakfast- any time of day. If we made Christmas all about breakfast, that would work too. :D

I am very respectful of others beliefs. My wife and her entire family are Catholic, and I respect that greatly. What I don't respect is someone telling me to "recognize the profound way they live their lives", inferring that all Christians are perfect human beings. To say that is just as ridiculous as me saying all Christians/believers are hypocrites, or all priests are pedophiles, etc, as I know that's not the case.

also, there's a massive difference between respecting someone's belief and respecting the person. I'm sure you can figure out what that means.
I apologize your "BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA." sounded like you were putting others down

I think you inferred wrong though ... :? did I say anyone was perfect? No I did not.

I was, of course, speaking about how they feel about the day and the importance to them.
Their beliefs in their lives, yes, profound.

This is Christmas for those who believe Jesus is their savior, this is profound.

you said "in the profound way they live their lives". that infers something quite different than your above explanation.

the bold and underlines is how I took it. the other definitions can infer what I had suspected she meant. also given most of her other posts, I think my interpretation of what was said wasn't a leap at all.

The leap was why would you think I would infer Christians are perfect people?
    Please tell me that.... why?

Do the Christians in your life do that? The ones I know don't.

I am not a Christian, do not attend church but even as I drive by churches
and see the subject of sermon it is often how they can be better people.
This the lovely thing about church ... a weekly reminder to just be better.

    not to everyone.

Well I agree with you that it may have been natural to infer the more common sense of profound from her original statement, but then she went on to explain that was not what she meant. I was just pointing out the definition of profound which is consistent with her subsequent explanation.

Edit - what I really mean is I think she went on to explain what she meant by profound in this case - the profound part their religion plays in their lives......

Speaking of trees, I'm not big into Christmas but my wife is. She like to have a tree and I don't like the thought of millions of trees getting cut down every year and tossed out. The argument goes that at least someone is planting trees instead of buildings. The problem is that young trees do not absorb much CO2 and Christmas trees get cut before they are big enough to capture CO2 efficiently. (Now hold on before you start declaring "Ba Humbug!". I'm not there yet.) So my compromise was, let's get a live tree every year. We buy a live tree that is suited to our area and after most of the danger of frost is past we plant it. Some of the trees we've planted have grow large enough now to be capturing CO2 efficiently, and she gets her Christmas tree every year.

Merry Christmas/happy re-greening of the planet!

I didn't know anyone else did this! We did that for some Christmases
but here in the South the pines ( Christmas tree type)
don't do as well as in the North.
I have planted in honor here though and we give the gift of trees also.

Our Christmas trees each year move outside after the holiday ...
then live on the deck with blue and white lights
then move to the yard and are covered in nummy bird treats til it is springtime
    then they are mulch :D

What kind of birds do you see most often? We get lots of Lesse'rs gold finches, jays, flickers, towhees and gross beaks.

i don't think i am even putting up my tree this year. nobody but me, my dog, and my band would see it, and i would have to take it down again in just over 4 weeks if i put it up today.
