I find that hard to believe. Can someone confirm? Perhaps just the extra stuff is 1080i (which would still seem weird). There is a 1080p version of the base movie. I saw it via pay per view.
My BluRay copy from BestBuy plays at 1080p. Original poster may have his settings wrong or his display only handles 1080i. By the way i stands for interlaced. Meaning the lines of pixels interlace to project the image. At 10' the human eye cannot discern between 720p and 1080
Thanks for that clarification. I figured that. However, on my 60"/240Hz TV, I can tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p (let alone 720) from 15+ feet away. I've seen both versions of PJ20 (p on pay per view and i on pbs), there's a difference on my tv. On smaller tv's, I agree. Sometimes on my 22" tvs, I can't tell the difference between 480 (or whatever that lowest on is) and 1080 (I may be exaggerating a bit here). But, on a 60"/240Hz tv with a 5 channel bose sound system, you tell the difference in both visual and sound. As with all things in life, equipment (and size) matters.
I'm not trying to be smart here, but the resolution of the picture, 480-1080, will not have any bearing on the audio. These are 2 different channels. One of the advantages of HDMI is that it can carry both video and sound. I believe that PJ 20 is broadcast in Dolby True HD. So if you have a 720 display you still be able to recieve the Dolby audio, providing your A/V reciever decodes Dolby True HD. For my Denon 7.1 channel system I prefer DTS Master HD, but that's just my preference. Both formats are lossless audio. Theoretically you could play the video on a SD display, while listening to the audio through an HD tuner.Memorial Stadium-October 4, 1996; Riverbend Music Center- August 20, 2000; Post-Gazette Pavilion-September 5, 2000; Verizon Wireless Ampitheatre Charlotte-April 16, 2003; US Bank Arena-June 24, 2006; Scottrade Center-May 4, 2010; Consol Energy Center-October 11, 2013(On the Rail!); Time Warner Cable Arena-October 30, 20130 -

You are correct on the sound. But, generally, 1080p video/blu ray almost always comes with the higher quality audio (whereas the lower does not ALWAYS). But, you can have the audio improved on the lower visuals. I oversimplified that part.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

Yes - but you don't need the blu ray if that's the case. That would be a waste of money. I'm guessing there are folks with blu rays that have tvs where the difference in blu ray and dvd would matter. I guess if you know someday you'll have it, then buy it now b/c it won't be available. But, blu ray is really a waste of money, as RVC indirectly pointed out, if you don't have the equipment to differentiate it.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

I'm hoping this petition works... a wise man once said:
"...as much as music brought you here, I'm absolutely sure that a song or music cannot change the world; absolutely positive of this. It can have a slight affect, it gets us through, but it cannot change the world. But. You all, this many people; it is determined, it is positive, it is proven that this many people can change the world! How do we know? Because it is written, it is stitched into the fabric of our flag, it is welded into our constitution that the people have the right to make change. And not only the right, but the responsibility to make change. You can hear this? Is this mic workin'? And this planet, you know there's a time and place for all of this right? This kinda talk? But, this HAS to me the time! It can't get any worse, we can't let it get any worse, this has to be the time and we're right in the middle of America and we have the power to change the whole world, because America's the "super power" right? You're American's, you can change the whole world. So this is the time and this is... Do you agree with me? Is this the place?!? Thank you! Because I'm saying this stuff just to even remind myself!" -E. Vedder (Bonnaroo '08, Porch @ 6:23-8:18)

Obviously we are all big fans here, but I'd like to just add my $0.02...
Disc 3 is worth watching maybe once, and only if you already have it.
I don't think anybody here should lose sleep over it. In fact, I wish I hadn't dropped $70 for the Deluxe.
Do yourselves a favor, find someone who has it, watch it, realize that you are the lucky ones that didn't spend the cash on it.EV Solo Boston 6/16/11

The disc is 1080i - see http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Pearl-Jam ... ray/30316/ and http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/5939/pj_20.html
Your Blu-ray player is converting it (deinterlacing) to 1080p60 before sending it to your TV.0 -
