Wow, what a exhausting couple of days. First seeing MMJ at Kah-Bang was such a unique experience. Shame that Patrick couldn't play, but that made for a really interesting set. Unfortunately they didn't draw the crowd I expected because the market in Bangor is tough. I feel like they could have really won people over if they had been able to play with a full band, but other people loss was my gain.

Not seeing them with Patrick on Saturday just gave me more of an incentive to drive down to Boston on Sunday to see them. Went down by myself and the 4 hour drive took 6 because of traffic. Parked at 7:50, scored a sweet single on the street (section 2, row N, dead center) and they started playing right when I arrived. Unreal show and well worth the trip and the exhaustion of driving back to Portland that night.

Only draw back was I went to the merch stand and saw a poster available. I bought it and was super excited that they still had them available. It was not until I arrived home and unrolled it to give it a closer look that I realized the poster they sold me was from the Merriweather show on Friday. Really pissed me off. No one told me it wasn't the Boston poster and I would definitely not have dropped $30 if I had know. Why the hell would you start selling another shows poster (that didn't sell out) and not inform the buyer correctly? Even talked with the MMJ merchandise guy (who I had met in Bangor the day before) and he didn't say a word. Not cool.

So, if anyone has a spare poster from Boston I would love to get my hands on it.

Otherwise a great pair of shows and a great weekend of MMJ. Hopefully I can meet up with everyone before another show in the near future!

  • Real glad to hear everyone had a blast in Beantown!
We were but stones your light made us stars
  • So I think I'm finally able to compose myself enough to write this. Last night was the best MMJ show I've ever seen. I went to New Years at MSG a few years ago and this was better. They were tighter as a band than any of my past MMJ shows.

Due to a ticketing malfunction, we picked up Mr. LoveBoatAdmiral himself to join us in the party. Glad you could make it buddy. School starts in 3 weeks son.

It was great seeing unlost dogs again. You are wicked fun and I'm glad you're hooked on these guys now.

And Mr. Black Diamond. What can I say? It was a pleasure meeting and talking with you. And your kids are awesome. They have a very cool dad for showing them these amazing bands. Hope they had a blast yesterday. Cheers to you my friend.

Mike? I don't know your board name. Great seein ya again kid. Enjoy Providence.

Finally, Mr. and Mrs. twisted thoughts are two of the coolest and down to earth people I've ever met in my life. Tube is shipped guys.

Anyway, back to the show. As we walked into the venue, I overheard the security guy say "8:15 to 11:00". It Beats 4 U was so awesome. 3 of the first 6 songs were from Z, which made me feel all warm and fuzzy about the night. Mahgeetah kicked ass and Dondante was transcendent (17 minutes by LoveBoatAdmiral's watch). Patrick seemed to be back to 100% and having fun. Tommy was in rare form last night as well. Some people around us during Slow Tune were talking and "taking the slow song off" while I rocked out and got some dirty looks. It's moments like that I live for at concerts. Being that kid. Smokin from Shootin>Run Thru>First Light>TouchMe2>Black Metal>Honest Man all kinda melted into one song at that point. By the time I picked up the pieces of my exploded head, it was Dancefloors and One Big Giant Fn Holiday. Like i say, best MMJ show of the six I've now seen.

Cheers to all who were there last night. It was a beautiful thing.

    Really, really nice post Fenway!

Always outstanding to spend time with you pre and/or post show. I know I'm always going to have fun if you're around.

And you're right _ I am completely, utterly and hopelessly into this band now.:lol::lol: I blame you and Twisted!

Finally meeting Black Diamond in person, well, that was pretty special! And the little diamond chips are a lot of fun, too. Green Circle / Boo Boo / Theovl was around earlier in the afternoon with his family, but they didn't go to the show.

And Mike _ that's MikeTheLurker! Another fun friend to run into. (Hope that Montreal ticket works out for you, my friend _ I was sorely tempted!!!) Nice also to meet LoveBoatAdmiral.

I didn't know enough of MMJ's music to know every single song, but that one gigunda medley in the middle was just not to be believed. And I had learned pretty much everything from Circuital, so I was psyched. One Blowyourmindapartbigfucking Holiday was freaking incredible.

I was at the back, by the tables and chairs. Really nice vibe back there, bunch of people just letting go, guys dancing, so excited at the intro to every song. It was a blast to watch the crowd's reaction from there. There was one dude who just kept dancing across a row of seats _ I'll never forget that. He looked like he was experiencing pure bliss.

Ms. Twisted Thoughts (and Mr. TT as well): Thanks so much, sistah, for the music! ;) And the good times. :D:D:D

Can't wait until these guys come around again...

    Fenway...it's me...Mike...ya know...the lurker!

Great seeing everyone again. My neck and back are still pretty sore from rocking all night! Ears are fine since I wore ear plugs...learned my lesson last year in Portland being next to Carl's stack all night. Couldn't hear right for several days!

Glad everyone enjoyed the show...MMJ is one step below PJ in my book.

    Take it easy everyone.

  • Wow. Great posts guys. I still havent seen the poster yet  Im gonna wait till it arrives in the mail via Fenway Faithful Express...its gonna be like Christmas on Wednesday when I open it :D I did see the Merriweather poster for sale...There was a sign that said Merriweather Post above it, by the time I got to the merch table...but maybe that wasnt there when u were Jervin. That sux. Keep an eye out on the MMJ forum... check out Burwell's site too...maybe he'll do a sale of his own.

ALWAYS a pleasure to party w/ Unlost Dogs and Fenway Faithful :D Just wish we'd had more time! Many of you I did not get to meet - PJ Boston and Hartford 2012 pre-parties are gonna have to make up for that :D

Black Diamond...a true gentleman and what an awesome dad!!! Maybe some of the cutest kids EVER...tho I think the little one may be possessed :D Again...just wish we'd had more time to party...

    Quick recap of the show.
It Beats 4 U!!!! :D I totally called it! Didnt get that one in Holyoke or Portland last year.
Honest Man is definitely in my top 5 favorite MMJ songs. They killed it again. Fucking amazing!
First Light was much better live than on the CD. Fun live song. I think Yim could convince me to like anything with that angelic voice of his
And finally...Carl.....was on freaking fire in Boston!!! OMG. I was pretty much centered to the stage (awesome seats Roll Call!!) and had an awesome view of Carl rockin the fuck out all night. He finally looks comfortable being the rock star that he is.... tho I do think he needs to eat a burger tho. Waaay too skinny that boy.

Ok...next homework assignment for Unlost Dogs: Immerse yourself in It Still Moves. What a great album that is :D Sooo glad u went this year...you'd be regretting having missed it by next year when they tour again ;)

I hope they do an Aussie tour for you _ spread the word!

Twisted: I am listening to nothing but MMJ! At work I've got Pandora radio going and it's just great, I love what they're throwing in there between MMJ.

And yes... last night I joined Roll Call!

So, so bummed that I missed out on hanging with you fine people. As others have stated, the traffic coming from southern Maine was horrendous. We didn't get into town until late, just in time to grab some food and a bunch of beers.

My first time at the venue, and I really liked it. Very cozy and a nice breeze coming from the water. What else can be said about the show that hasn't been said all ready? They killed it. Patrick looked well rested, Jim was Jim, and what can I say about Carl? I loved watching him. He looks like he is having a blast, jamming out and dancing around. Even somewhat knowing the setlist did not take away from the show, at all. Honest Man was a great surprise. Loved hearing the new stuff. Everything was perfect, even with Wonderful being scratched (although i told my daughter I would record it for her if they played it.....she understood :D )

Really hoping it won't take long for them to come back this way. I got some really good pics. If I can figure out how to post them, I will.
  • Did anyone tape the show Sunday night?

Shawn read yesterday someone did and it should be up w/in the next few days...I'll keep ya posted on that ;) Ive also read that there is a recording of the 2008 BoA show out there too...I'd like to get my hands on that one if I could also.

These guys are so good live...they really need to get on the PJ wagon w/ boots. Even if they only did mp3 and/or flac versions of them as opposed to actually printing discs and selling...that would make me and a whole bunch of other MMJ fans happy as hell.

I read on the MMJ board that someone had set up shop right near the soundboard, and hoped to have it out in a couple days. So, hopefully we'll have something soon.

    Yup......from MMJ's board, poster gOrdO55

Taped last nite at the corner of sbd (stage left). Much better situation this time around...mics weren't handheld like last time. Thanks to the folks who let me join 'em in their seats to get this done. Show will be on Dime and Trader's Den in the next couple of days. Nak700's -> DR100 / RC, corner of SBD / ~12 ft high. I basically set it and forgot it so will be listening and mastering tonite. Finger's crossed.
  • That's fantastic. I dont use any of those wierdo torrent sites, so someone may have to make a copy for me somehow.
