yeah, but he did have 2 strikes when martinez ended up on third.
he is struggling though. his avg is down 20 points in the last 2-3 weeks. he was just hitting 280.
how do you get jammed on a 3-1 pitch??? should never ever happen0 -

I play MLB The Show for PS3 online all the time, and Howard looked like a noob who gets nervous on 3-2 and just swings hoping it's a fastball down the middle. As Matt Vasgersian, the play by play guy on the game, would say, "looks like he's swinging a garden-hose."2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Oh come on. It's a good line-up that's just not hitting right now. They're top 10 in the NL in most batting categories as a team. That's all ya need with a starting staff like this.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Not sure if the top 10 comment was sarcasm or not.
Their lineup was much better last year and we know how that worked out.
I do think the phils are gonna win this game. they just gotta get garza out of the game and the cubs pen will win it for them0 -

No I wasn't being sarcastic. They are in the top 10 in the National League in virtually every stat (http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable.jsp#s ... am+hitting). And just because they're not hitting well now doesn't mean they won't be hitting well in September/October. They could come around.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. there are only 16 teams in the NL. being in the top 10 isn't anything special. they're still in the bottom half of most categories.
the thing about this lineup is that it's a bunch of older players. a lot of them are still big names, but not the players they used to be. they could come around...hopefully they will. I'm just preparing myself for a repeat of last year's playoff frustration because the offense isn't as good as it was then.
the thing that bothers me more than anything is the approach this team takes. garza was all over the place tonight and he still went 7 innings. utley and chooch are the only ones that know how to work a count. they really miss werth in that respect.0 -
Gload. Glad Cholly took Cliff out.
Top 10 in NL? There are only 16 teams. Including teams in pitchers parks like Giants, Braves, Dodgers, Padres, Nats, and Mets.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Yeah but bottom-half of the NL isn't the end of the world when you've got pitching like this. You're right that the hitting has to come around for them to truly contend in October. But i just can't fathom all this talent is gonna fizzle out like this. And you're right that they're older. But as a unit, there's no reason that this group isn't giving SOME run support. I'll worry if they're still hitting like this a month from now.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea.
