Thank you everyone; the set list has now been updated. Without the mics, the idea was to present the song in the way it would have been done when the theatre was built. Ed and Glen are making use of the theatres' natural acoustics. How did that sound to everyone?

Kat, it was a great idea, but the people ruin it. It was barely audible over all the impolite yelling and screaming. Really too bad.Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)

I thought playing sleepless nights with no mic was the highlight of the night. very cool. i know a few years back someone at Warner in DC yelled out a request to turn of the mics and the comment went ignored - at the time I thought it was a great idea. It was really a special moment to hear eddie's singing voice first hand, and althought the Fox was a larger venue (5000+), and I was far away in row LL, it made the whole venue feel real small for just a couple minutes.Kat wrote:jgardz wrote:Didn't he and glen also play sleepless nights, without the mics on??? Really? I was in the mezzanine and I could hear it just fine. Sure there were a few people yelling but by no means was it as bad as you make sound.given2fly23 wrote:Kat wrote:jgardz wrote:Didn't he and glen also play sleepless nights, without the mics on??? Very nice evening, and except for "Yell 'Crazy Mary' Guy" who then turned into "Get out your wine, Eddie" guy who then turned into "Doctor, Doctor" guy. I am pretty sure this upstanding 'young' man ruined the attempt at Arc. I so wanted to see that come together, and for some reason this guy needed to yell Crazy Mary... Crazy Mary at the top of his lungs from 7 or 8 rows back from the stage. He was in Section F5, Row D. He almost got smacked with a flip flop
Just remember F5 Row D Eddie's not your monkey...0 -
This might be the best set list so far.
I cannot wait to see what's in store for the rest of the tour. I hope Eddie Keeps playing 'I Am Mine' And 'Immortality'

These comments are getting annoying. Eddie is a professional. Do you honestly believe he stopped arc because one guy yelled out? If the heckling was as bad as everyone makes it sound don't you think he would have commented on it like he did in new York? I think people focus to much on the negative and expect people to stand when they want them to, sing when they want them to, piss when the want them to. Everyone needs to get over themselves. The show last night was excellent!

I think calling this show excellent is a stretch. It had some highlights and some excellent guitar work. But it all comes down to if you feel you got your money's worth? If you feel you did, awesome. Enjoy it. I personally don't, considering how much it cost to get me and my wife there. Will I try next tour? Of course. Every. show can not be epic! Oh, the bouncing mezz was very cool0

Geez, what else could he do to make you feel you got your monies worth? I think song wise this was the longest show. In all seriousness I think if you went to the first couple of shows I could understand.jm257212 wrote:I think calling this show excellent is a stretch. The music and Eddie was fantastic...far to many drunk idiots who should not be drinking because you can't handle your booze...had this clown in front of me who was standing on his seat waving his beer around nearly dumping it on my wife...told him to watch the fucking beer...then he he proceeded to scream 4 inches from my face...what a fucking idiot...oh well I still enjoyed the show, I imagine many of those drunks don't remember the show.I have certain rules I live by ... Well, Amazing Show to cap off a great day in Detroit!
A perfect day for a ballgame and comeback victory for the Tigers on Sparky's Day!
The pre-party was great as usual.
Props to Tom, Nixon, Jen and crew for putting it together.
At one point last night Tom told me it is because of all the good people that show up and donate and give that make these things possible and while true, its people like you guys with your time and effort that make it easy for people show up and give and share their prize possessions. And all for a good cause! Thank you.
Also, great meeting you lukin19 and Son, and we will see you in Toronto eh!
E.V. was unbelievable! The Fox was spectacular! I thought the crowd was great other than a couple of knuckleheads yelling. Loved seeing Off He Goes as it is one of my top 2 songs. I thought the Ukelele songs were great live, especially Without You and Your True. After Small town ed acknowledged the crowd and said we were the best singers of the tour so far. Sleepless Nights was good but the crowd kinda ruined it in spots.
I absolutely loved Falling Slowly. Ed and Glen nailed it.
Other highlights for me were lmlotd, porch, immortality, moth, crazy mary.
Want to thank Chris, Sarah and Mandy for such an amazing day in Detroit.
Also, the Detroit poster is a must have for any die hard Wings fan like myself.0 -

Also, can someone please PM me a photo of the sign outside the entrance to fox theatre......i think i'm the only one that didnt get a photo of it. Thx!
I hesitate to do this for a Pens fan but here are some night shots when all was quiet and all the jammers had gone to bed (or passed out).0 -

it looked liked somebody was doing upgrades - to TM ticket holders with scanned ticket printouts - any 10c member who did get moved up please pipe in here but it came across that the people who came in with a ticket printed on a sheet of paper were the ones moving up (not a 10c confirmation-a TM ticket barcode) - I could be completely wrong but....
that being said it was par for the course for the night - security was so focused on people who may or may not have had cameras and who may or may not have taken a picture and were going after people in the general area of any sort of light from a screen to the point of interrupting the show for people sitting in those rows that they tended to miss the kind of things your used to security keeping under control at a show - like people in general respecting the artist on the stage
there weren't really many of 10c closer than around the 15th row - little handfuls got close - the rest were around row S or worse - it's almost like the 10c tickets were allotted after maybe a corporate sale or something - maybe it had something to do with Fox ticket holders but I would guess that they or who ever they sold their tickets to held most of the front of house
normally all of the seats in that place would have been amazing - but when most of the first 20 rows are there between beers it kind of sucks - I don't think there were ever less than 5-10 people walking in and out up and down the aisles per minute
I hate to comment on the "surrounding bullshit" at such a fantastic show but it was hard to not let it get in the of the experience
I don't think Ed should have mentioned Justin Bieber the other night - I think a lot of the people I saw there last night thought he was playing
but hearing Ed play was worth the worst, and weirdest, crowd I've ever seen at a show
and Glen Hansard rocks - WOW - when they sang falling slowly together it had me in tears
last night was definitely a one off trip to the twilight zone but I wouldn't have missed it for anythingwe're all sentient snowflakes0 -
Does anyone know if tenclub is going to release the audio from the show for sale? If not, was taping allowed? If so, anyone found a torrent yet for it. I have read a few comments about the show. Here is my review of the evening.
First, I tried to get 10c seats when they went on pre-sale but could never get any and when they went on sale to the public, 2 and 4 seats were sold out and 1 seat was sold out so I tried 3 and got tickets, we were 17 rows back on the right side, I was able to get my best friend (He doesn't get to shows anymore as he is busy raising 3 daughters)and girlfriend to go with me.
Great view until after glen went off stage when these 2 drunk (early 20s) showed up and wouldn't sit down a couple rows in front of us. A couple of songs into, my buddy says he is going to stand in the hallway as he can't see anything. I didn't want this to be a bad experience for him as it was first first road trip in over a decade. So I go up to them (in a total out of character type of situations, as I usually just let people do their own thing), and tell them I know that this is an awesome night but the people behind you can't see and by them standing up, they are ruining everyone else's experience. The dominate one turns to me and says in her most Materialistic, superficial, guest star on a Kardashian show way "I paid for my ticket here, we are going to stand, and I love him! (meaning Eddie)" So I replied "Ok, well you have totally missed his point....." Security came over to them several times but nothing was ever done. We still had a great time and my buddy said the view from the side was better because he could see the crowd react to Eddie and that he wasn't going to let them make him have a bad time. To which i replied "Good. they aren't worth it. Plus in 10 years, when they are taking care of 3 kids and can't afford to go anywhere, they will realized they were being DBs and have a moment of remorse, but its all good as they have been forgiven."
When the Encores started, the front of the venue most of the front was standing at times. When Crazy Mary started the girls hug and say this is their favorite song. This is also when everyone decides to stand up. Come to find out. The guys all around them are probably basketball players as they were towering above these girls by at least a foot. They couldn't see anything at this point. This is also when my buddy comes back to his seat to finish the show. I told him what was going on and we laughed. I ended it with "Karma is a bitch".
Great show, way to many drunks though. Eddie wanted to try and test out the acoustics and have a moment with the crowd, that's why he had the mics turned down or off. The problem is that when 99% of us were quiet, there was still the 1/2% of A holes who were yelling over Eddie, then the other 1/2% yelling at the people who were yelling.
It was a beautiful venue, glad I was there just for the architecture, to bad the people there weren't the best crowd for the type of mood that was trying to be set, but still a great show.0
