Grace, too...None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe that they are free.

Fire in the Hole needs to be put back in rotation as the closer as they did in 06 and 07. agreed, there are just SO many songs they have....i would love to see some of the more obscure stuff from Violet Light and In Between Evolution get played. Glad to see some new stuff too!
i will say, for a fan club show, that is a pretty standard setlist.....You would expect some crazy stuff brought out.Van '98, Sea I+II '00, Sea '01, Sea II '02, Van '03, Gorge, Van, Cal, Edm '05, Bos I+II, Phi I+II, DC, SF II+III, Port, Gorge I+II '06, DC, NY I+II '08, Sea I+II, Van, Ridge , LA III+IV' 09, Indy '10, Cal, Van '11, Lond, Van, Sea '13, Memphis '14, RRHOF '17, Sea I+II '18, Van I+II, Vegas I+II, Sea I+II '240 -

Agreed. But don't forget, these guys haven't played a show in well over a year. I get the impression that the Peterborough gig was more of a warm-up. The real tour starts on Friday night in Watertown, NY. I'm hoping as the tour gets rolling, we'll see some more rarities sprinkled throughout the setlist. I have tickets for the Edmonton show and I'm praying for "Cordelia" to make it's long awaited return to the set. It's been years, and I need to hear that song live again."I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

Here's a photo of the actual setlist. New songs are called Streets Ahead, Drip Drip, and Transformation. Also looks like 50 Mission Cap and Three Pistols were originally on there, but not played.

The setlists have been almost identical for the first couple of shows on this tour, save for switching out 2 or 3 songs. How "U2" of them. That's almost unheard of with this band. I'm guessing that because they haven't played together in over a year, and between solo projects and working their arses off recording the new album, they likely haven't had time to rehearse a lot of songs for this tour. So they're sticking with ones they're most comfortable with right now, and trying out some new material in the process. Regardless, I can't wait for the Edmonton show on July 15th!"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

I just remembered that they've been shooting a documentary during the last three shows. That might explain the identical setlists. They're probably doing that for continuity purposes and for getting the best take of each song.
Here's "Bobcaygeon" live in Bobcaygeon from last night. Love how Gord trades verses with the crowd:

Setlist for Bobcaygeon was pretty much the same except The Kids Don't Get It replaced Fireworks and they did another encore with 50 Mission Cap and Locked in the Trunk of a Car. Great show, really enjoyed the atmosphere on Saturday night. Nothing like a big outdoor part with 25,000 Hip fans.0

Hey! Long time no chat! I recently renewed my TenClub membership in order to get decent seats for their Calgary show in September, and I realized that I could finally start posting here again. And what better way for me to re-introduce myself than to revive the longest running non-Pearl Jam thread on these forums! For me this is one of the best times to be a music fan. My two favorite bands in the world are both busy with all kinds of activity: touring, recording new albums, shooting documentaries, etc... I love it. From everything I've heard from Hip fans attending the recent shows, the new songs are amazing. Very rocking, up-tempo material. Sounds like the new record is gonna be a barn burner, and hopefully a kick-ass return to form after the somewhat spotty "We Are the Same" album. They finally ditched Bob Rock and are producing the new album themselves, thank god. I'll give Bob credit for breathing some new life into the boys on the excellent "World Container" (loved Johnny's heavy drum sound on that record), and I know Downie is really good friends with the guy. But it was definitely time to part ways with him as a producer. His style is just too polished and radio-friendly for a band like the Hip. Anyways, it's great to see you're still posting here. Feel free to stop by the Hipbase as well and say hi to your fellow Hipheads.
Here's a clip of "Grace, Too" from last week's Peterborough show. Gord is uncharacteristically subdued on this one, but this version belongs to Robby Baker. Watch him rip it up during the extended outtro. The dude is so underrated and his playing is so smooth and expressive. I still say he's one of the finest lead guitarists in rock:

Not bad for their first show in over a year. Especially for a band who admits they don't rehearse much. But I suppose if you've played together for 25 years, you wouldn't really need to."I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

Anyone have an extra ticket for the Canada Day show at Downsview? I stupidly thought the capacity of the venue would be big enough that the show would never sell out, but low and behold, no tickets are available through Ticketmaster anymore....<a href="http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y50/kittykat699/?action=view¤t=PennysHawaiiDec2006031d.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y50/kittykat699/PennysHawaiiDec2006031d.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
