She was on last season of the real world on MTV. One of the people from the show ended up going to her house to practice with her. She sounded amzing from the show.
Yeah, I saw that. She's a real cool lady and really down to earth. I love how she recorded her last album and videos in her kitchen...totally dig that "minimalist" approach to recording. Goes to show you as long as you write good tunes and possess some degree of talent, you can work magic without ProTools, fancy studio, etc.Osaka, Japan (2/21/95), San Diego (7/10/98), Las Vegas (10/22/00), San Diego (10/25/00), Las Vegas (6/6/03), Las Vegas (7/6/06), Los Angeles (7/9/06), VH1 Rock Honors (7/12/08), Ed Solo (7/8/11), Ed Solo (11/1/12), Los Angeles (11/23/13)0 -

haha, for the most part yeah. I can't stand when pitchfork looks down on bands like pearl jam for not being "hip" enough though. But they do recommend some great music.0 -
I've never heard of most of the bands on this thread, I guess I'm officially old, rock was so much easier in the 90's.0

They had the #1 song for NME this year called Best Of Friends. I had never heard of them until last week when my friend played the song though.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poFXWUTEs1k

So I saw The Vaccines last night at the Union Transfer and the opening band was real good. They were called San Cisco. A four piece "pop" band from Australia. Check them out
Also the drummer was pretty cute (although she's probably at least half my age ;-)

I went to see Dinosaur Jr on Friday and they were supported by this band called Little Barrie, they were really good! I don't really know whether they count as a 'new' band or not, but I thought they were pretty cool & I really enjoyed their set, so it's worth a shot anyway. Check out 'Tip it over' or 'Surf Hell'. Also, I really like what I've heard of METZ, this new band on Sub Pop. If you're interested, give 'Wet Blanket' a try. Cool song, I like the video too.0

They've been around as long as Pearl Jam, and you don't have to pay $75/ticket, and if you show up early for bar show you get front row centre. I've met them all (except Brian their drummer) and they are possibly the nicest people I've ever met. As of last year they catapulted from #2 and leapfrogged PJ for my #1 favourite band. I'm also posting this 'cause when my wife and I met them she said "I don't want you guys to get big." And this is one small step in creating awareness for my buddies from Bean-town.
