Yes it is. When I first saw it I didn't realize what it was, but when I did, it's just perfect! So devastating to watch the coverage, but I know they will come through as they are a very tough and determined nation.unlost dogs wrote:chiquimonkey wrote:I follow this graphic designer on FB/twitter, and he created this beautiful tribute to Japan:

Yep, we got hitched this past November.
No babies!
I am still getting used to the politeness of the culture....she worries about the needs of many, and I worry only about the needs of a few , so I often scowl when she worries about everyone!0 -
"Cong-latu-rations" to you both.JOEJOEJOE wrote:haffajappa wrote:

Yes, it is a very interesting culture.
My dad is very Japanese, but becoming very Canadian. He runs a sushi bar on a mountain. And eats noodles and screams at the TV during hockey games. That about sums it up.live pearl jam is best pearl jam0 -
As I learn more about the culture, I realize more about my wife.
Her family was interned during the war, and my dad's family members were in concentration camps in Germany, so we are a match made in heaven!
I often remind her that we had it worse!

Hahaha, yeah... Same here. I have a great uncle who was a Iwo Jima, and a great aunt who's fiance was supposed to go but something happened with the deployment (he got lucky) and also my grandfather was at hiroshima, but luckily was not killed though obviously suffered the effects of radiation. He had to go retrieve bodies though, and never ate BBQ meat again in his life (according to my dad).JOEJOEJOE wrote:As I learn more about the culture, I realize more about my wife.

Kinda off-topic, but I'm wondering if you've ever seen any of the shorts by film-maker/animator Jeff Chiba Stearns? He chronicles growing up as half-Japanese/half-Canadian in Canada through animation. I saw, "What are you anyways?" for the first time last week on Movie Central. Very cool.

Very cute if I do say so myself.
They are both bilingual and my son can read and write Kanji. I am simply amazed by them.
They are lucky to have a mom that is very dedicated to raising them Japanese.
My son will be making his 8th trip to Japan this summer, daughter's 3rd. I am so jealous!0 -
