eddie vedder tix $94.50!

I would pay $100+ for tickets...the added expense won't break me....but to look at this objectively...
....if my salary increases outpaced inflation or CPI by like 35-45% over the last 7 years, I'd be a pretty f'n happy camper. There's no way the cost of touring has gone up even close to that much, relative to those measures. Takin a bigger cut, and pricing himself/themselves to the market for sure....But, but....I thought you guys were DIFFERENT!

What?! 94.50!!!!
Led Zeppelin charged 4 bucks back in 1970! How dare you jerome turner? That´s it! Forget it, I am quitting the TC!
What I would do to make eddie come to Guatemala to put on a show for that price.........94.50, that is.IN THE DARK, ALL CATS ARE BLACK.0 -

Well since he was a huge clash fan and that Joe Strummer wrote most of his songs on a uke, I'd say he'd be in favor of a uke album. If I felt the same way about things as I did when I was 16, I'd be pretty disappointed with myself.Member 164xxx

Young Eddie was so concerned with what Kurt and Fugazi thought that he would have probably scoffed at the idea of high ticket prices and a uke album. And if he did say something about stop bitching about not being able to afford the prices back in 1994, I probably would have stopped my Pearl Jam cassette tape purchasing at Vs. which would have sucked because I listened to Vitalogy on the bus daily

He loved Joe Strummer as well and he wrote almost everything on a uke. I'm sure he never frowned upon a ukulele.
Pearl Jam have middle of the road ticket prices for big acts. not high to extreme ticket prices.Member 164xxx

The thing is while i can find some good reason that Pearl Jam would charge twice more than other well known bands for the same venue (more security, more gear, more engineers (and maybe paid more than other bands would), more techs...), there is absolutely nothing to explain 100 buck for eddie and his uke man! Such a tour doesn't cost much and well yeah is awesome yeah he's a star yeah i would pay 150 to see him but well J. Casablancas played in my town for 30 bucks! Of course i don't compare him to Eddie but he's as least as popular as Edd. right now. This feels f.. disappointing!0

To be fair, tm/ln nation fees are 21% of the cost of the base price of the ticket. That shouldn't be ignored.- Busted down the pretext

This Strummer fact is news to me. Not denying it, not does it even matter, but I have never read about him writing all of the Clash songs on a uke but you do have the definitive answer to every question in the universe so I won't doubt it.
Based on the fact presented in this thread and many others, $94 for Ed solo is extreme. I work with 2 huge fans of Pearl Jam. One in the Ten Club who never posts here and the other who works at a local radio station part time but not in the 10 Club. Both went to multiple Spectrum shows and almost all area shows whenever the band tours. When I told them Ed tickets were $94....one said "Are you kidding me? Fuck that" and the other said, after seeing the Ausie setlists, "For the same show as 2 years ago? I'm out". My girlfriend, who is a fan but not to my level...she O-faced in astonishment.
3 fans outside of this board lacking the emotional attachment all agree it is a bit out of hand. No equipment to lug, no band to pay, an amplifier, and a small crew. It's too much.0 -

They are fast approaching a time when they won't be selling out East and West coast shows if prices continue to rise. I don't really care that Ed is still charing what he did 2 years ago. It was too expensive IMO 2 years ago as well.
This is it - it's supply and demand. There is a fine line in ticket pricing - finding the actual value of a ticket is tough. Price far too low, scalpers have a field day. Too high, you don't sell enough. The New Yorker had a great piece on Bruce keeping prices really low a few years ago. The end result: scalpers got a hold of a lot and fans ended up paying a lot more than face (or the actual value of the ticket) and, this excess went to the scum rather than the artist.
I'd much rather pay knowing my money is going to the artist and their crew than some ass scalping.0 -
If you want to eliminate scalpers, just use the system NIN and Thom Yorke use with paperless. It's nice to hide behind that excuse but they really can't anymore. And if that were the case, the Ten Club tickets would be cheaper since they can't be scalped.0

While I understand that Ed has to pay his crew/the venue/other fees, and some of it goes to LiveNation/TM, $94 does seem a bit high. Guess I'm nostalgic for the old days.
I recently saw Flogging Molly and was astonished at the prices - only $35 to get in (with fees) and only $15-20 for T-shirts at the show. Granted, they're not as huge a band as PJ, but it really made me wake up to how high PJ's concert prices have gotten.Chicago 2000 : Chicago 2003 : Chicago 2006 : Summerfest 2006 : Lollapalooza 2007 : Chicago 2009 : Noblesville (Indy) 2010 : PJ20 (East Troy) 2011 : Wrigley Field 2013 : Milwaukee (Yield) 2014 : Wrigley Field 20160 -

That is an interesting and probably very valid point not yet considered. It was in the August 10, 2009 edition, but its a pay to play site. I would have to agree with you, and it changes my perspective a bit. Although it sucks that the existence of a pervasive secondary market is in part, making my EV/PJ habit more expensive, and it sucks that this strategy puts more money in LN's pocket as well.GS163319 wrote:The New Yorker had a great piece on Bruce keeping prices really low a few years ago. $95.00 for vedder tix. bahahahahahahahahahaa0

I dont have excess money, but I have no problem paying 95 bucks for a few hours of Eddie solo.
Come on seriously.. break this down:
-One of the best lyricists and front man of our time, for about 45 bucks an hour.
Its been said before.. if Eddie solo tix were like 50 bucks, it would be damn near impossible to get tix, especially because of the smaller venues. Then you'd just be bitching you couldnt get tickets.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -
it boils down to this ...
you either think he's worth $95 with fees included or you don't ... everyone has their own value scale ...0
