My ticket in 2008 was $59.40 and that's because I was on the lawn.RedMosquito22 wrote:PJ in '03 - $46.50 each

Ed in 2011 $94.50 in a venue that holds about 20,000 less people. Look at it this way Neil Young in the same venue was $270, $170, $85. $94.50 for the whole place is a bargain.
The days of PJ shows being under $100 each are almost over.Shows: 6.27.08 Hartford, CT/5.15.10 Hartford, CT/6.18.2011 Hartford, CT (EV Solo)/10.19.13 Brooklyn/10.25.13 Hartford

He only had to pay you 40 bucks?
hahaha. very funny. :roll:BUSH-lager wrote:EDIT: I shouldn't put it that way - it should read, since when did Pearl Jam fans start justifying blind capitalism? The "bleed every last penny that you can out of 'em" thought process. "If he could get $99.50, he should, and you have no right to complain." It's amazing.

So at what price point do you think EV would stop selling out these locations? I would guess around $200 based on absolutely no evidence. Just a guess. I guess Stubhub will let us know if these tickets are truly overpriced or underpriced.0

But on the other side, the 3,500 venue (including less security) is much cheaper to rent than a 30,000+ venue, don't you think?RedMosquito22 wrote:He is also playing in front of only 3,500 people and not close to 30,000+. A lot less money made as well.
And since it is Eddie solo, he doesn't have to share the profit with his PJ-bandmates.0 -

Pearl Jam have middle of the road ticket prices for big acts. not high to extreme ticket prices.
This Strummer fact is news to me. Not denying it, not does it even matter, but I have never read about him writing all of the Clash songs on a uke but you do have the definitive answer to every question in the universe so I won't doubt it.
Based on the fact presented in this thread and many others, $94 for Ed solo is extreme. I work with 2 huge fans of Pearl Jam. One in the Ten Club who never posts here and the other who works at a local radio station part time but not in the 10 Club. Both went to multiple Spectrum shows and almost all area shows whenever the band tours. When I told them Ed tickets were $94....one said "Are you kidding me? Fuck that" and the other said, after seeing the Ausie setlists, "For the same show as 2 years ago? I'm out". My girlfriend, who is a fan but not to my level...she O-faced in astonishment.
3 fans outside of this board lacking the emotional attachment all agree it is a bit out of hand. No equipment to lug, no band to pay, an amplifier, and a small crew. It's too much.
95$ is not extreme. It's far from extreme. It's a SMALL venue. A concert hall likely. Only 2000ish seats. You are dreaming if you think you will get a Vedder solo ticket for less than what he is asking. And you shouldn't.
We are lucky the tickets aren't 150-250$
Quit being cheap.0 -
there's no sense in arguing about it really. it's like global warming. some people believe it's happening, some don't. some people think tickets are high, some don't. but damn if we don't hash it out every time ticket prices are announced.*~Pearl Jam will be blasted from speakers until morale improves~*0

Everyone here pays at least $20 to be in the Ten Club to begin with, so we are all biased. All of us would pay more to see Eddie or PJ than the average person, so this argument could go around for ages. I don't think the people who are questioning the pricing are necessarily cheap either. People in this fan club hold Eddie and PJ to a higher standard than most musicians because of their 'fuck you' attitudes toward Ticketmaster and the music industry machine earlier in their careers.Using up my Ovaltine... like Ovaltine.0

Ok Thanks. I didn't know that and didn't see anything listed on StubHub as a reference point. $200 way off. Then what is the big worry about getting ticket? Seems like everyone is so concerned about something that should be easy to get. Maybe not through the 10 club but still can get in the building.0 -

So what if the tix were 65 bucks? Wow, you'd save 30$. Even at 4 shows, that's only 120$ savings. 120$ doesn't even buy a half a cart of groceries.
Get over it you cheap bastards.
Oh and I am far from wealthy. But I have my priorities. And since I realize that I will be spending lots on PJ later this summer, I have not been going out at all. Just work and March Madness.

I'm thinking that some people will complain less after they see what others are charging. For example here are the prices for the upcoming Peter Gabriel tour. And YES I know it is with an orchestra but check out these prices.....
Adult
Reserved 1 $251.00
Reserved 2 $175.00
Reserved 3 $99.50
Reserved 4 $77.50
Reserved 5 $55.00
Reserved 6 $34.500 -
Its all premature until the dates are announced. For example, it will be harder than last time to score a ticket if there is only one Philly show. A good percentage of us worry about scoring TC tix or good seats, not just getting into the show. If you dont care where you sit, then you have a LOT less to worry about.Jim Tressel wrote:Ok Thanks. But can you compare when Gabriel first started touring when Vedder was getting his first pubes?
That goes as well for the other list I saw in this thread of other artists' pricing. All (except DMB) performing 10 years or longer than PJ.0 -
To be fair, Peter Gabriel's body of solo work is much more impressive than Eddies...Bentleyspop wrote:I'm thinking that some people will complain less after they see what others are charging. I would recommend biting the bullet seeing EV live just once. There is no point in seeing multiple shows as the majority of the shows are the same. I am just not into sitting down throughout an entire show....0

I agree with crazypjfan. I'll splurge to see Ed once this summer, but not multiple nights. For one, I simply cannot justify spending $400 in tickets alone, and secondly, there's no point (for me, at least) in seeing him twice.
Also, tickets for the upcoming My Morning Jacket tour are $42.50. I would gladly go and see them multiple times at that price. And travel a good distance for it.
I really hope they announce whether or not the full band is touring this summer. I'm assuming that once they get the festival stuff sorted out, they'll figure out what the bands plans are. I would take east coast full band shows over Ed and the festival all day long.
And I'd like to sprinkle in some MMJ shows as well

I thought you said it would be expensive? Is this per pair? So $112.50 per ticket per night. That is on par with Aussie PJ prices and what I would expect to pay. About NZD$150 per night for seats if it's an awesome event is a bargain IMO.RedMosquito22 wrote:$225(after charges) per pair, per night for 3 nights($675) for the seated area(10 Club seats). They play the same rooms and charge half what Ed and PJ do. I dont have an issue with what PJ charges, I gladly pay, but make no mistake, they have found the precise price point in between bands that deliberately keep prices really low and bands that charge really high prices.
That's exactly how I feel. I've gotten front row for Green Day 3 times and only paid 50$ for the tickets each time. Not like it's relevant, but I actually got up on stage/sang last concert of theirs I went to. I'd have died if that were Pearl Jam.
During Longview?
