dont think so....collating opinion here it seems the album is amazing and shit.
I think it is interesting, but pales in comparison to their past work. Also, if any band not named Radiohead put this out nobody would give it a 2nd listen. Don't think it's shit though. Codex sounds pretty good I guess.
I also reserve the right criticize even though I don't have a lick of musical talent. :P (even my current car's steering wheel is unforgiving to drumming)

Looks like it has divided opinion here anyways! I haven't listened for a little while - but will have a go again tonight - I have enjoyed it when I have listened all the way through in one goCancel my subscription to the Ressurection

i think you may be on to something here. fact of the matter is, radiohead is not the only band making this kind of music. there are tons of other bands out there making music just as, and many times far more innovative than radiohead. i have tons of friends who are huge radiohead fans, and i can guarantee that most of them, if not all of them, would probably not even make it past the first couple of tracks of "king of limbs" without giving up on it if it wasn't a radiohead album. i find it interesting that radiohead manages to keep this huge fan base while making albums that would seem to appeal to a very limited demographic. i guess i would attribute that to their 90's success and the fact that they still make music like "in rainbows".
that said, i am part of that limited demographic. i actually really like the new album after giving it a few listens. it's certainly not "shit" as many are calling it, whether you dig it or not. i do understand the frustration among fans though. if you are a fan of radiohead, the rock band, and you've been getting an album release once every 4 years, i can see why you might hate the 8 track album of electronic mood music. just doesn't seem proper if you were expecting another "in rainbows". but that's not radiohead's problem. this is the kind of music the band wanted to make right now, and that's their prerogative.
all in all i think the album is really good for what they seemed to be trying to accomplish. my only real disappointment, is knowing that i won't get as much enjoyment out of this record as many of their others...simply because the music here fits a very specific mood.0 -
I agree with some of what you are saying Tiki. It is a moody album like Amnesiac. I disagree with you on this: There isn't many bands making this kind of music with these kinds of musicians. How many bands write innovative and fresh basslines like Colin Greenwood, or sing like Thom Yorke, or come up with tasteful drum beats like Phil Selway. Who are these other bands you speak of? People listen hard and give Radiohead more time because it always works out. I can understand people not liking this album. I can't understand not giving this record a proper twenty spins. Who has better production than Radiohead albums with Niles Godrich? Short answer: Nobody.0

I like the album, you don't. Fine. Give it a fucking rest.
I gave it a fucking rest after about 3 listens.
anyway, I understand it was in the heat of debate... Now go home and get your fuckin' shineboxoh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

i wasn't saying anyone is better or worse than radiohead, which is really just an opinion anyway. just trying to point out that radiohead isn't the only band on the planet making experimental pop music, which you might seem to think from reading about them. i could name tons of bands as examples, but i'm sure you could too...it's really irrelavent to the point anyway, which was that a large portion of radiohead's fanbase, myself not-included, probably would not be interested in "the king of limbs" if it weren't made by radiohead.0 -

But it WAS made by Radiohead, so that doesn't matter.0 -

no it doesn't. and neither does anyone's opinion on the album, but we're all talking about it.... just adding to the discussion.0 -

By the looks of it, this might be tough for some of you to comprehend, but maybe, just maybe, people like it because it's good?0 -
This is what I have gathered from 36 pages:
Some people like the new album, while others do not.
And, some people will attack those who do not agree with their opinion.

whos list are you reffering to here? I'm sure it will be in some“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”0
