    Wait... what?!

they all do it and without a hint of irony. i love it when it happens and the crowd doesn't react to the bait.

big mistake by bernie fanning to slag off wellington at big day out 2005. he wasn't speaking to an auckland crowd. he was speaking to a new zealand crowd.

There's lots more things I'd rather spend the money on, but I guess you're right. Still, there's a part of me that says it's silly to throw the money away on the trip, but the other part knows I'll regret it if I don't.

it would actually financially fuck me up really bad. as much as i'd love to see him live, i'm not spending my savings on a concert. plus i'm still only 5 months into my mortgage... i'm at that place where for the 8000 odd bucks i've paid so far, my mortgage has only reduced by about 150 bucks.
Sucks, huh? My advice is not to look at the numbers. It's just depressing and it doesn't get much better for a long time.

i know. i hear it's about 5 years before you stop wanting to kill yourself every time you look at your balances.
  • as gutted and pissed off as i am, I want to try and get over it soon and not let this taint my memories of the show last year which changed my life so much. I still love ed. right now i'm a bit pissed at him BUT that will go away in time. im more pissed at Chugg
Pearl Jam Pearl Jam Pearl Jam!

I'm looking to buy a single ticket to Ed's Sydney Opera House show, PM me if you've got a spare! I don't care where the seat is! :D

i really do feel bad for you guys - i never meant 'oh just come on over, blow the expense' i just mean, who ever does come, you'll feel welcome and helped out as much as possible.

i cant really afford this either - even in my own country. i guess i just live by the 'live in the moment' rule. the $ always turns up eventually.

my "no big thing" comment wasn't directed at you - it was to the pointless response from the ten club 'hope you can make it to one of the oz shows".

the shows may as well be in america for the accessibility they provide to some of us.

poor perth too. the new zealand of australia.

this all gives me a new found respect (or an enhanced respect) for the those kiwi musicians that tour in nz and sometimes in aus at a personal loss to themselves. and they do it because they love it. not to make money. not that i expect ed to do anything for free, but i mean... cmon.

Yeah its hard for nz bands. I went and saw Elemeno P a few years back and hung out backstage with them, they said they made virtually NOTHING at the shows, maybe 20 bucks each if they were lucky. But they still tour and they were nice enough to let me hang backstage with them twice just cause I asked nicely

a band that had the xmas number 1 single toured that year and finished in debt. number 1 single. american musicians barely live in the real world.

damm ... was really hoping i would get lucky and find ed playing in new zealand when i head down ... :(

There is no way that I can afford the tickets tomorrow when they go on sale. I am just really hoping that there are some left when I can afford next year. My best friend is getting married in Adelaide in April but hasn't set a date yet - seeing as I am definitely going to her wedding it would be awesome if I could tag on seeing Eddie too. I would be gutted if she gets married at the end of April and I miss out...

I would say there is next to no chance of there being any tickets left for this next year. You might be able to pick up someone's spares (which is probably what you meant).

Nah not a spare. Would love to take my bestie. Will be in better state in new year financially for tickets, what with Christmas and my daughters birthday this month, and I don't have a credit card - only Visa debit. Fingers crossed!!!!

    Well that sucks.

By then I would have joined a band and will be hopefully touring with bands like Pearl Jam haha :D
Seriously though I'm not joking, I practise guitar all day and the only thing i want to do is be a sucessful musician

  • Gore? Screw Gore. If they are such good mates with Neil, they should play Te Awamutu. I reckon they could sell out the Rose and Thorn pretty easily.

Actually, a nationwide pub tour would be pretty rad.

"Hello, it's great to be here with you in Motueka tonight..."
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

Adelaide all sold out... Oh well it was a nice thought....

everyone can come to my place. we'll make a stuffed eddie out of pantyhose, newspaper, some men's clothes, boots, a fluffy hat and a guitar. we'll sit him on my deck and we'll take turns flipping the vinyl.

Ha ha thanks I needed that actual LOL, not just a virtual LOL. Turns out I definitely cannot afford any trips to aussie next year either, and I have officially gone through all the stages of grieving and have finally settled on (resentful)acceptance, he's not coming, still loves us, just not as much as he loves the aussies, hey wait, that's not right....
Why I let myself get so excited when there was no hint of NZ getting anything, ever....

If anyone wins lotto and wants to take all kiwi 10c members to a show, hell, I"m in
  • doomponydoompony Wellington, NZ Posts: 4,501
he likes us as people but he doesn't love us and he certainly isn't ready to make a commitment. i think he just wants to be friends. but not good friends. friends of friends.

I think i have grieved too haha. Its been a week now. In reality, Iv been through so much in my life that this, is nothing. And i'm already planning what I can do to make up for it. ROAD TRIP to get a TATTOO

And yes I'm sure Eddie still loves us, I still love him, I may consider letting him out of the naughty chair soon

He should just know that next time he does come here, He'll get a bit of a growling :D

Thats the last time I listen to rumours. Same thing happened when Soundgarden where rumoured to play BDO, I was gutted when it was announced. And I missed out on seeing my guitar god Slash coz he only played Taranaki.

BUT, I am SO THANKFUL that Metallica came here, I got to see my other guitar god, (Kirk)

dya know who i haven't seen in ages? neil finn. i mean, apart from his guest appearance last year. last time i saw that guy play live and solo stuff would have been 7 worlds collide. i've seen the finn brothers a couple of times since and crowded house, but... i could really go for a good old fashioned serving of mr finn. mmmm. playing loose tongue. yes. and sinner.

    damn i love neil finn.

i can't believe chugg's shennanigannery. and why no apology for the nz fans who just got no nothing.
  • topaztopaz Posts: 301
Crowded House are playing this coming February....but yea, I hear you on the Neil Finn

Last I saw him was the second 7 worlds collide, what a random concert that was, still fun and all but I kept thinking Eddie was gonna jump out from the shadows of the stage with a half empty bottle of red wine yelling "surprise Tope!"...

and I spent the most of the concert looking at the guy in front of me's back and next to Murray, The Red Wiggle. He is very tall. Got a much better view than me

We are now moving on to what is known as live-music therapy. We will survive no Eddie-solo concerts. We have our own concerts to be keeping us busy...right? I'll tell you what is not helping, and that is watching this berlin concert dvd live footage thingy.... NOt HElping

it's fuckin cool tho. I keep looking at Boom, he really does look like one of my Uncles from up on the Marae. He should be our go-to man

oooh the therapy is working, I'm getting to the bottom of things a bit more, I guess I always thought that Ed and the whole band had an affinity for NZ, but I guess they just don't. Or maybe they do, maybe Ed does, but his schedule just can't fit in one more concert...But, you know, I bet he pops over here for a holiday and to see the other Uncle Neil....look out for him at the pub

ahhh feels good to ramble nonsensical pearl jam whims

now they're playing bloody push me pull me in berlin?!?!

that's what bazzer said.. that's what hurts. we thought we were special. but we're not. we're just that little country near australia that neil's from. what did ed say in auckland last year? about always having a lot of friends from nz? blah!

there's nothing coming up for me on the concert front so i'm screwed. i usually have to go by myself anyway. i need new friends.
