you can't really get lost and any friendly passerby will help you get back to where you need to be if you do manage to lose your bearings. wellington city is so small you can walk the length of it no problem. i say just find yourself a start off point and wander. wander the waterfront... wander cuba street and the shops around there... wander down oriental bay... maybe go to te papa or the city gallery.
lots to see. if it's a nice day you'll be sweet. if the weather is a bit crap you might wanna stick to the CBD where it's sheltered. but feb/march is when our weather is it's best (though this week has been fucking gorgeous which pisses me off because ziggy doesn't believe me that it gets sunny here!)

Yeah, the weather was pretty shit while I was there....but that's good because I wanted to see shit weather....didn't want to think the weather would be lovely when it normally isn't. I'm a little bit scared of winter though. :?
well you'll be dressed for winter. nice and rugged up. tee hee.
it's HOT today. the weather thingees are lying and saying it's not as warm as it is. mum said it was 40 something degrees in their roof and 28 in their house.
i know. metallica came over for one extra show separately because they cared about the fans down south. the pixies came BACK months later for an extra show because they enjoyed themselves so much. surely it'd be cheaper to come to nz than it would be to travel between some australian cities.

exactly. They did it so anyone else could.
It just pisses me right off that in Feb/March 3 of my ultimate fave musicians (Ed, Slash, Josh Homme) will all be in australia and none of them will come here. slash only did one silly festival show in Taranaki which me and alot of people couldnt go too, he said he'd come back here when he's in oz for soundwave but NO. Nothing.
I just have to be thankful that Metallica bothered to come here and I could go to that.
grrrr
Pearl Jam Pearl Jam Pearl Jam!
I'm looking to buy a single ticket to Ed's Sydney Opera House show, PM me if you've got a spare! I don't care where the seat is!

I'm still holding out hope, but I guess I'll have to grab tickets anyway. You don't think QotSA will come here? Probably they will announce something later, or do you think they're still pissed that they had to cancel some years back due to poor sales?

I don't think there's any hope to hold on to anymore, guys. They would have announced our shows at the same time. :( :( :(
And I'm in the same game as you Ms Pony, there's no way I can seriously afford to go to Aussie in March next year, unless I win lotto or something. I'm just not brave enough to rack it all up on my visa, I'm guessing flights, tickets and accom would come somewhere in the vicinity of 1500-2000 $$.... imagine the interest I'd accumulate on that!!
So we gonna miss out this time, kids. Mose well get used to it and wait for the return of the whole band I guess, unless you're lucky enough to be able to pop over the ditch.
sigh sigh sigh sigh siiiiigh, we woulda looked after you, Ed!! still will, come on! won't be too hard! we're just over here! you can practically see us from there...

dont know about QOTSA last time they were here was supporting Smashing Pumpkins but apparantly they were better than the Pumpkins.
I'm just so upset.
Damn it Ed! You said you LOVED NZ! Its JUST A FEW HOURS TO FLY HERE
I wont be going either, I'm in the same boat as you guys, and my age is a problem, i'm only 17, cant really afford to go to oz
:( :( :( :( :( :(

The time before that, the tickets weren't selling well (you know NZers generally and Aucklanders specifically have been a bit apathetic in the past with tickets) and so they cancelled the show! I was one of the guilty ones! D'oH!
Don't worry, fellow Kiwis! I will go on all of your behalves. Just need to decided when and where...
Seriously, this wouldn't be the first time NZ gigs weren't announced at the same time as Oz. Plenty of shows end up coming here (Adam Lambert, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies...). I'm sure there's more, those are just some of the recent ones I can think of. I honestly cannot imagine that he won't come here...

Iv been in a bad mood all day after hearing about this. Stomping round the house in a crappy hahaha

we're not going to get shows. this isn't the first time this band has done this to us and they clearly didn't give a fuck the last 2 times. in 2003 ed made fun of us at the brisbane show because they chose to go to japan instead of nz.

Yeah and one of my twitter friends tweeted this "Sorry, there will not be any NZ dates. We hope you can make it out to one of the OZ performances." - From Pearl Jam's official 10 club
I really dont want to be angry at our dear ed, but i am.
sorry ed
AHHHHH Friggen pissed off
Pearl Jam Pearl Jam Pearl Jam!

yeah like it's no big thing to drop a couple of thousand dollars to go see some fucking rockstar.
ahhh life in the real world.
ahhh yeah, the great feeling of being left out again.
:(
I wonder how long I will feel sad.
Probably till a good concert is announced.
Well, I'm going to go. I can't not. And I have to go back in May to see Kyuss (Lives = close enough for me). We often get sideshows fro Soundwave, so I'd expect to see QOTSA, 30STM, Primus here in early March. Probably KoL too.
Maybe I'll see how cheap I can make the trip. I guess $500ish for flights might do it, then some cheap accommodation, then tickets. I won't see much change out of $3k I guess (me and my wife) but you only live once. The mortgage will pay itself while I'm away I mean I could just go for one (or two) shows in Sydney but the others are so close, it's hard to turn them down. It does increase the costs though. I suppose we could do Sydney for under $2k.
There's lots more things I'd rather spend the money on, but I guess you're right. Still, there's a part of me that says it's silly to throw the money away on the trip, but the other part knows I'll regret it if I don't.
Don't you know Julia Deans? She must know Liam. Get her to ask him to ask Ed to come here!
I'm still in a state of disbelief honestly. You kind of think they (Ed particularly) feel a certain way about a place (NZ) but in the end maybe that's not the case, or maybe it's not enough. Oh well :(
yeah i dont think liam has much say. and i really don't think my dear friends in fur patrol would have any pull whatsoever.
you hit the nail on the head bazzer. all that bullshit he spouted about nz and how he feels about it meant no more than when all those wankers come to nz and play auckland, say auckland is better than the aussie crowd, then come down to wellington and say wellington is better than the auckland crowd. it's all just meaningless pandering.

it would actually financially fuck me up really bad. as much as i'd love to see him live, i'm not spending my savings on a concert. plus i'm still only 5 months into my mortgage... i'm at that place where for the 8000 odd bucks i've paid so far, my mortgage has only reduced by about 150 bucks.
