    I think he has an enormous amount of talent so I think that he would be a star still as well as have a following. His lyrics are as good as ever, and sometimes even blow my mind that he can even put out more and more lyrics that make you think.

    But as for Eddie's real integrity that he shows time and time again, obvious when he talks using terms like "the band" to not elude to the fact this is Eddie's band. He is cool like that.

    why is it a dumb topic? It's interesting to hear people's take on the same singer/songwriter/musician. I think he could have been successful as a solo artist--maybe not HUGE but good.

    Point taken... but we'll agree to disagree. However, I'm close to positive that we both can agree on the fact that Pearl Jam would in fact, no matter what, be bigger than Eddie Vedder solo.

    Hmm... well that's a whole new and interesting question. You're probably right, but I'll have to give it some thought. There are just so many variables to consider - timing, whether bands are more popular than solo artists in general, how (much) he would promote himself as a solo musician - it's just hard to say. I think maybe this is where your question about style becomes relevant too. Although I think he'd have many fans as a solo musician in whatever style of music he decided to play, some styles do have more fans than others.

    Now, absolutely yes and he's already known as the primary leader of PJ.

    Past, before Pearl Jam. Hell NO, did Bad Radio make it big? Nope Eddie needed seasoned music veterans like Jeff and Stone to become a big rock star.

    Without Jeff and Stone, Ed would just be a surfer bum.

    I think today as solo artist EV would have a larger fan base... Granted not as huge as early PJ (TEN & VS. era).... But much bigger than today's PJ fan base.

    Sure he would be nowhere without the early Pearl Jam... but now he could turn into a superstar and an household name.

    I really think he should have started a solo gig at least ten years ago... sorry folks but he's keeping PJ together not the other guys...

    I was wondering why Eddie is doing this solo tour. Is it because of the Into The Wild soundtrack? Maybe I sound too much like a chick here, but do you think the other band members were jealous to be left out of a tour? If anyone knows, please let me know. thanks.

    He's already a star but if he went solo he would only be able to ride the PJ wave a little while. One more solo record and he'd fall off the map. By 2010 I could stop whining about missing the solo tour and see him at the local pub.

    Meanwhile Jeff, Stone, Mike and Matt would bring us another great band.
