NEWPORT, Wales -- In view of the adverse weather conditions today, and the 7 hours, 18 minutes of playing time lost, a new playing schedule has been agreed to for the second and third sessions:

--The 2nd session will comprise six foursome matches.

--The 3rd session will comprise 2 foursome and 4 fourball matches.

--This will be followed by the 12 singles matches.

This means there will still be a total of 28 points available, of which 8 will be decided by foursomes and 8 by fourballs, and it is hoped that play will be completed by Sunday afternoon as scheduled.

If necessary, play will continue into Monday.

This new format will commence Saturday, likely after the first session is completed.

so ... basically ... everyone plays ... no sitting guys down ...
  • I love the announcer on the 1st tee. It's the same guy that announces the players on the 1st tee at the Open Championship. Love the deadpan British accent, "Now on the tee from the United States.....Phil Mickelson!"

Obviously I'm rooting for the US, but there are so many guys on the Euro side that I really respect like Westwood, Harrington and McDowell. Ross Fisher's also a fantastic player.

How great would it be if Dustin played against Martin Kaymer in the singles and kicked his ass, exorcise the demons from the infamous penalty at Whistling Straits.

Stewie Cink is on fire right now, but the daylight is fading fast.

Also, they had the PGA guy on ESPN saying they've reworked the format for the next two days. They feel this will help to get it all in by Sunday, but Monday seems most likely at this point.

    I agree

Hopefully now that the us has this round stopped cause of darkness, that will stop the huge momentum that the euros have. They hopefully can regroup tomorrow morning and then the single matches will be killer.
Would it be wrong to start drinking that early in the morning tomorrow?
Could be drilled by noon :D

You might be lucky to see much tomorrow as the weather is meant to be shite. It's 22.00 here and the rain is lashing down.

I didn't see that much today but heard it was 6-4 to USA when we are on our way home. A bit surprised to see Europe leading in all 6, can't remeber anyone leading in all 4 previously. Westwood looks like his enjoying himself. Quote of the day has to be when Watson and Overton were interviewed after their victory and the interviewer said "Welcome to sunny Wales":lol:

The us seems to have a little momentum (not Stricker or Tiger though) How about Overton's shot from the fairway on 10 (I think) where he holed it, what a beauty.

Molinari just fucked up, missed a 2 footer to go 2 up on Kutcher & Cink

Tiger & Stricker now done, 6-5 for us.

Well we have 3 matches wherewere only behind by 1, keeping it close

That would be nice. Or Poulter.

Well, its 9.5 to 6.5, which means of the 12 points remaining, the Euros need only 5 of these points, while the US needs 7.5. It will take a massive surge by our boys to retain the trophy.

Also, love the passion and enthusiasm from Overton and Watson today. Finally, I think Pavin has done a very poor job of captaining this team and might be the main reason we don't win.

Thanks for the draw Chime. Some interesting games there.

Europe have their tails up but it will be tight tomorrow and I wonder what the crowd will be like. There'll probably be a few thousand throwing a sicky. The crowd are definitely a 13th man out there.

I wonder what the Woods/Stricker defeat will do to the US morale. That was just a massacre.

I see Mickelson has become the most defeated player in US Ryder Cup history. Mind you I suppose it helps he has played in so many.

Where in the States is the next one?

    I like some of the draws;
Johnson vs Kaymer should be a good one
Overton vs Fischer, like how Overton is playing right now & Fischer seems to be solid right now also, good match
Mcllroy vs Cink, I think they should have someone else up againsy Rory, think Cink will get destroyed

We'll all see tomorrow I guess, Just this damm thing called work in the way
