My posts are all still there.
The Christians you sited for killing kids were all charged and convicted of the killings. They were denounced by their churches, and in most cases either crazy, or suffering from post-pardum depression.
Either way, they were denounced, and jailed.
NOT SO w/ the Muslims. Those people are still going to Mosque, and living normal lives. ]
Islam condones Murder.
Read a book little children.
PS: Yo momma IS staying for breakfast!!
ummmmm....did you even bother to read the articles you posted????
does this look like he's leading a normal life free with muslims accepting him and his action??
also, from your article:
Medine Meme's father and grandfather have now been arrested and jailed awaiting trial. The girl's mother was arrested, but later released.
he case has caused outrage in Turkey and reopened the debate over so-called honour killings which are particularly prevalent in the predominantly Kurdish south-east of the country.
One commentator wrote on the website of a religious TV station: 'The punishment for whosoever should kill with intent is the hell where he will languish forever. Allah has cursed him and prepared great pain for him
'You named your daughter after the holy city of Medina but your mind is left over from the earlier Age of Ignorance.'

OP, are you even aware that Turkey is a pretty fiercely secular state, where the army may well intervene if overtly religious people get too much power in politics and have done so in the past? They have laws in place denying show of religious garments in various public places and so on. Since you seem to have it in for Turkey in particular, read up on this, you might learn something: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkey#Gov ... d_politics
Just because they are mostly muslims, doesn't mean they're as ass-backwards as Afghanistan or tribal Pakistan. (Not that they're "barbaric" either for the most part, but they have a heavier stricter sort of religious practice)
I am put in mind of a Norwegian rock band who has a song called "Isn't it nice to have someone to hate" (translated)
Peace
Dan"YOU [humans] NEED TO BELIEVE IN THINGS THAT AREN'T TRUE. HOW ELSE CAN THEY BECOME?" - Death
"Every judgment teeters on the brink of error. To claim absolute knowledge is to become monstrous. Knowledge is an unending adventure at the edge of uncertainty." - Frank Herbert, Dune, 19650 -
he still stands wrote:“If it is committed in the name of God or country, there is no crime so heinous that the public will not forgive it.” - Tom Robbins
Lets stop putting one religion against another denouncing one another as "barbaric."
They are all dangerous. Patriotism is dangerous, too, and should be thrown in the trash heap with religion.
Basically everything you said.live pearl jam is best pearl jam0 -

Yo MOM, you're a moron. I'm telling you as a Muslim (me), it is against real Islam to kill ANYONE. In true Islam, if you kill 1 human, god will punish you as if you killed ALL of humanity. It's in the real Quran book. Not fox, CNN, msnbc... Out of curiousity, what does it say in the torah? What does it say about keeping 1.5 million Palestinians under seize and prison? Enjoy your breakfest and please let us all know when you're done with your wheaties.........0 -

I've had my Wheaties, and I'm ready to go. Thanks for calling me a moron.
Do you live in a cave? You must, if you think reasonable peace-loving people of all Western nations don't associate Islam with radical violence and death.
You said, "Real Islam. True Islam." What is that, and who, in your faith is deciding what "Real or True Islam" really is?
The Imam's issue fatwah's calling for the "stoning of women", calling for the outright murder of Jews and Christians. There is no higher honor in Islam than to become a Martyr- to kill yourself in the act of killing others (define it how you will, murder is the oft-chosen path to "achieve" martyrdom). Are you one of these Muslims? Do you condone this ideology? Is that "True Islam"?
I am not generalizing ALL Muslims b/c of the radical elements of your faith- but you start w/ "Oh, we're a religion of peace, and No Muslim should ever kill anyone, blah, blah, love and peace..." How can you be taken seriously?
Who can forget the videos of Muslims celebrating all over the world on 9/11?
Celebrating the murder of women and children. Are you among these Muslims? Was that representative of "True Islam"?
Who are these Muslims that we hear from every day, over and over, calling for the murder of innocents?
Are you one of these Muslims?
If you don't know how, or why, or who, or what the hell I'm talking about, then I submit that you probably are in a cave, and martyrdom is closer than you think.
BUT- if you are not, and you really do adhere to the TRUE tenets, the 5 Pillars, and are a person of peace and faith, then BE A VOICE for Islam- a voice that CONDEMNS these radical ideologists that have hijacked your peaceful faith.
The world need to hear from those that, like you say, practice "True Islam".
But why is it so quiet?

But you see, that's the point. The world does hear from moderate Muslims, all the time. Remember, just because you don't hear them doesn't mean they do not exist.
And with respect, you are reffering to fundamentalists who happen to be Muslims, you're own country is recognised the world over for having a large population of fundamentalist Christians.
This whole religion thing gets played out way too much in the media, and unfortunatly, opinions like this seem to be the end result. It is much easier for FOX and the rest of the news networks to refer to Muslim terrorists rather than actually report why these people are so disenfrancished (i suppose that doesn't fit into the 30 second blurb). It's when the viewer takes no responsibility for their own further learning on the subject that leads to these sweeping and dangerous generalities.
Take my own countries history for example: I lived in Canada for years and the only media coverage on the tele about the Troubles in Ireland was about Catholics vs Protestants, which missed the whole point of that mess to begin with.
Read up on what is going on, understand it, then pick a side, come on here and debate away, but atleast then you stand over the point. Otherwise you come across as a little bigotted, uninformed etc...0 -

I know you're right, BUT if they don't speak up they will be consider part of fundamentalist, like a crime from omission, those who stand by the side without doing something are just as part of the problem as the fundamentalist."The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it"

Yeah that's true. I suppose the point I was making, long winded I know, was that the OP was saying that all muslims must be tared with the same brush, I was just trying to throw out some perspective. I agree with you though, more can and should be done by the majority, however, I think everyone has a part to play in that, and the whole religion cloak of convinience needs to be removed and proper dialogue opened. The news also has to begin reporting the truth.0 -
MOONPIG:
First, I respect your thoughtful tone in this discussion, but I must disagree w/ you on a couple of things.
You said:
"This whole religion thing gets played out way too much in the media, and unfortunatly, opinions like this seem to be the end result. It is much easier for FOX and the rest of the news networks to refer to Muslim terrorists rather than actually report why these people are so disenfrancished (i suppose that doesn't fit into the 30 second blurb). It's when the viewer takes no responsibility for their own further learning on the subject that leads to these sweeping and dangerous generalities."
-You stated that my opinion is the result of biased news-media. Its not the media "playing the whole religion thing" out. Suicide bombers and vehicle-born IED's are real, and it is Muslims killing not just Jews and Christians, but other Muslims as well. The violence is real, and it must be stopped.
-You seem to think that if American news would report how "disenfranchised" these people are, we would understand their feelings better, and what? then the terrorists would just leave us alone? B/C now somebody "feels" their pain? Being dienfranchised, by a real or perceived enemy, is NO excuse for murder- and the Koran says so.
-Finally, b/c you disagree w/ my opinion, you said I come across as bigoted and uninformed. I have studied the Middle East, I have served in the military, and I have trained our soldiers and airmen how to survive IED and suicide attacks. I am well acquainted with the global crisis, and no, the complete collapse of the Middle Eastern Empires, the rise of Islamic states and the economic, social, and political fallout that, as a result, still still plagues those states today cannot be covered in a 30 second news blurb.
I have yet to hear a Muslim say, "There are Muslims who are hijacking our faith, and killing innocents. The Koran says murder is wrong, and as a Muslim I condemn it."
All I hear is justifications (disenfranchised), excuses (we're misunderstood), and blame of others (fox news).
I am standing "over" my point, as you put it.

I borrowed your quote and I'll say it OUTLOUD!!!

Then nothing that anyone here says will change your thoughts... there HAVE been MANY Muslims who have said the exact same things over and over again.... just because you didn't hear it (or pay attention to it), doesn't mean that it hasn't happened. My whole life

JB'sMomisinmybed,
Ok, the one Muslim in this thread has condemned it, and go to youtube and search for Muslims condemning violence or terrorism or whatever, and you will see lots of other Muslims condemning in on really every media outlet known to man... what more do you really want? It's obvious that you have a misguided opinion about Islam, and no matter what anyone says or does will change it.

Great posts here, even by JB, the guy/gal everyone seems to be fighting with, at least he is strong in his/her opinions, as all of you are.
I am not sure if this is relevant or not, but I feel compelled to type it out:
I have been with the FDNY for 10 years now, and on 9/11/01, there were Muslims CELEBRATING in the streets of Brooklyn as the towers came down. Now of course, at the time, I wanted to beat everyone of them. How can people who claim to love America celebrate this heinous act in our own backyard? It's been almost 9 years now, the anger has naturally faded away. I'd like to think I am a little older and wiser, well I am definetly older, but I am only 29, lol, anyway. What I am trying to say is that I agree with a lot of posts here. Religion is what you make of it, it's what you want it to be for you. Sadly, through the course of history we have seen how horrible people can be in the name of religion, as they were on 9/11. Let's not be as ignorant as them. Yes, it is a fact that most terrorists are Muslims, it is a fact. Of course, we have our McVeighs and such too. For the people who use it correctly, for the people who are peaceful and understand their religion, then religion is a beautiful thing. That includes all religions, Christianity to Muslim and everything in between. It doesn't come down to religion, it comes down to the individual, and some people want to see the world burn. Be better than them. Most terrorists being Muslim in todays world is not an opinion or stereotype. It is a fact. But, don't be ignorant to believe all muslims are terrorist. The Koran rejects violence, and yes that has been said in the media. Living in NYC, needless to say, we have a large diversity of people, and we have plenty of Muslims here, hardworking and peaceful Muslims. Let's all do the best we can. Good posts....
While we are complaining about stereotyping religions and such, one HUGE pet peeve of mine is people who make the connection of middle eastern looking people = muslim = terrorist...
You see/hear comments all of the time about terrorist/bin Laden/9-11/Iraq, etc... directed at Indian people, Sikhs (turban = terrorist), etc.
It often amazes me how ignorant people are in their hatred. My whole life
