Yeah, like the fucking WBC....I'd be kind of hesitant if I were them honestly, everyone there is going to give them a lot of hell.

It could be an emotional day for many of the attendees, so I hope the WBC doesn't draw them into any skirmishes. It seems as if the WBC never has anything to lose, so they have that advantage.

That's very true. I just find it extremely disrespectful and rude to picket someones memorial/funeral...I mean, really? Do they have to be that radical?

I've been searching for a copy of that for a while now. Looks like I may need to resort to Amazon.com

Obsessing today over Dio/Sabbath's "Dehumanizer." Those looking for a RJD fix would do well to check out this very under-rated record.

That IS a great album. It is just flat-out HEAVY (is there a heavier riff anywhere than the one to "After All"?), and full of great metal songs.

I just discovered the Dio-era stuff from the band Rainbow. Has anyone here heard any of it? I'm just absorbing it, but it has aged very, very well. Ritchie Blackmore's guitar with RJD's soaring vocals. Check out the song "Stargazer" from the album entitled Rising. It is over 8 minutes of metal masterpiece. Ron always sounds great, but truthfully, his best vocal performance is in the last 2:15 of this epic. His voice just voice just soars over the building instrumentation, his voice is more of an instrument than just delivering the vox, if you get what I am saying.

When Ron sings around the 6 minute mark,

    "I see a rainbow rising
    Look there on the horizon
    And I'm coming home
    Coming home, I'm coming home"

It is just chilling. Of course he didn't know in 1975 (when this album came out) anything of what would happen in 2010, but it does make you think of than when you hear the music. His voice just wails, it's amazing, check it out.
Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?

Very under-rated album. The song After All is fantastic. Dio's vocals were at a new level on that album for sure. I also really love TV Crimes, Computer God, I, and The Wayne's World version of Time Machine.

A friend of mine went to the memorial...she said it was a lovely event. The program they handed-out is very cool.

Sadly, some of the "mourners" have chosen to sell their programs on Ebay. Some of the sellers have amended their auctions so that the proceeds will be donated to RJD's foundation. I can only imagine the hate letters they received prior to doing this!

Just read your post in full. You're now discovering Dio era Rainbow? Oh man, enjoy. I discovered that while in high school and listened to Rising non-stop for God knows how long. 5 powerful, rockin' songs. I hear people say there are only 2 good songs on that album and I fully disagree, I love it all.

While searching for a DVD my fiance swears I have (while I know I don't, she has it, but that's another story) ... I found this, new and unwrapped!

    Dio-We-Rock.jpg

2 live concerts, one form Holland on the Holy Diver tour and one from Philly during the We Rock tour ... and a half hour long interview.

How in the hell did Vivian Campbell go from this ... to Whitesnake ... to now being in Def Leppard? Def Leppard???

Anyway, this is awesome ... what a find!
