I would absolutely agree, but in this case, it's hard not to see the real meaning when it's spelled out so descriptively.

Some were later but most were within 70 years of his death. While on the topic of people writing in that day; most people couldn’t write or read. So why write it? Did you write down the story of 9/11 after it happened, or how about Kennedys assassination? I heard of it and now with media saw it. I believe eyewitness account and the people who have heard eyewitness accounts. Do you not? Not every one writes everything down, we tell the story. Ones who want things remembered write them down, eyewitnesses and educated people. Ya you cant find the original document that these guys wrote them on because if one possessed that they could alter or change it to control people. Thats why there are in fact over 5000 different accounts of the gospels from believers and non believers alike.

Your source please? (a relevant source, not a biased churchy source) My point was that it was written by people who were born after Jesus died. People who didn't know him or witnessed the events or "miracles" performed by him. Fewer than 1% of the population could read or write at that time so most of the events were just handed down by word of mouth... similar to any mythology. Obviously today it is different... most people can read, write (and even do a little math) and with technology and the "semantic time-binding" knowledge of man it is a much different scenario.

Bible scholars. If you open a bible today and a piece has had a date determined then it lists it. They do this by study and cross reference of leaders, topography of the time, and cultural happenings. These are used to date the writings. If they were all written long after then why dont all the gospels contain the story of the 70 A.D destruction of jerusalem. They often discussed happenings of the times throughout the new testament but not this time, when the leadership and Jewish culture as they knew it had been destroyed? Jesus not only prophesied this destruction would occur but most of the writings that they believe to have been in the time right after Jesus never speak of it. So they had to have been written before this event by either eyewitnesses or people who heard eyewitness account.

so if the proof is in the writing, everything ever written by those that "witnessed" it would have to then be true.

look, I'll say it again. You can believe what you want to believe, and I'll believe what I want to believe, but you cant' seriously put forth arguments as weak as this and expect people to buy it. the proof is in the writing? Come on.

Maybe your account is right, maybe it's not. But you won't convince anyone with this.

and what if the first guy lied? what if the "eyewitness" to Jesus healing the sick with his bare hands lied?
