sure- read the subject title and/or forward to 9:48 in as it says above!!!

Would love to except everytime I try to listen all I get is "Service Unavailable."

Also, the subject title doesn't explain WHY dates are on hold.

Pearl Jam, we're hoping for one show, although two would be great for CT, but we know that would never happen. One show would be great.

    Excuse me?

You're telling me I owe some people an apology? Why?

Everything I said was 100% accurate.

-Back in October PJ put several dates on hold at MSG for May.
-Going with the "flowers" analogy, I wrote: "if everything goes right, they will grow", meaning if things don't go right, they won't grow.
-As of the beginning of January, the dates were still on hold for them.

For the people who PM'd me asking for specific info because they have plans they were concerned with overlapping with their dates on hold, I told a number of them the specific dates that were on hold (hold, meaning not-confirmed yet) and I told them be aware that "Things can change and sometimes they do (eg: PJ had MSG on reserve for 2006 but they canceled and ended up playing in 2008)."

And the summary from Koplik's radio interview re PJ dates:
    -No plans for CT
-We're talking about NY (though it's more than talking, since I have detailed info from the venue)
-NY shows are on hold/up in the air
-Not sure where they'll play in NY (again, I'm looking at specific venue info)
-They're now in that "no idea zone which happens to a lot of tours".
-After these potential "may or june" shows, MC will be playing with SG.

...so Koplik's interview puts some potential hesitation behind confirming a NY show. He's not saying no shows.

tbh, i really am not all that disappointed to think the may shows may not happen. :?
the philly shows were sooo awesome, guess i still have a good high from that, and sure...i have been blessed seeing pj many times. i DO absolutely want to see them this year, and there is NO way i would miss out on a hometown show if it happened....but if it doesn't.....i'm a-ok with that too. save more $$$.....and still plan on hitting up the 10.22.10 gig wherever it may be. now if THAT didn't happen, i may be bummed...;)

I agree, that interview does not really speak to anything other there being no plans for a Hartford show.
And it certainly does not suggest that CJ's info is wrong.

They put a new album out and do a small tour (and 1 part of that tour was 8 shows in 2 cities)? more love is needed for the rest of the US and I am in the northeast and went to the Philly shows and have NY at my disposal etc but I feel bad for the other hardcore PJ fans that arent in LA or Northeast! Good luck you guys, one day you will get a show, as well as Philly Boots and the never happening Ed Solo Boots. "On hold" is a concert industry term. It means they have placed a hold on a venue but haven't confirmed the booking yet. If they release the hold, that would be bad news, meaning they have decided not to do the show. As long as the hold is in place, it means they are still deciding what to do. Generally, when a touring plan is decided upon for sure, the hold is then confirmed and the venue is officially booked. At that point, it can be announced to the public but the announcement doesn't necessarily occur right as the booking is made official.

I'm curious to know how long venues will typically hold a date for a band? I would think there must be some kind of time limit. What if a band has 2 or 3 dates on hold for a venue and they sit on it for a while only to cancel, when the venue potentially could have booked someone else during those dates?

If someone inquires about a date you are holding, in most cases, you have a certain amount of time to either confirm the hold or release the date. This is all very common. Very often acts have multiple holds at a venue due to having different routing plans under consideration.

Thats what i thought. But according to "The Hoff" they have had MSG on hold since October. That seems like an eternity for a hold date.

I'm not positive on how long a band has to confirm, however their hold at MSG originated at the end of October.

To give some frame of reference, back in early November 2005 PJ had dates on hold for May of 2006 (this is a good comparison, since that's roughly the same time frame to compare). By March 1st 2006 it was no longer on the schedule (but the hold was released some time prior to March 1st 2006). So, in that case, it was up-to 5 months of a hold, but there's a good chance it was released up to a few weeks before 3/1.

On those dates they ended up playing Storytellers, and I think (if memory serves) they did their "new york" shows at Izod instead as part of a small tour.

They didn't end up playing MSG until '08.

    Hope that helps. :D

Hey Fastrichie, I'm hoping for shows like everyone else! I think I converted my GF into a fan at Halloween, and I'd love to see them at "home" again (though my home is now VA). I was actually really surprised when I got the info, since they were just there in '08, but I'll be glad to be there so soon again!

Since I've inquired so frequently about the "seeds", I'm avoiding over-asking, so here's to hoping PJ follows thru with their plans!

    Hoff,
I converted my wife years ago. Hartford 96, Dragged her to Oakland in 97. She's been to MSG shows every year.
She is not the addict that I am. But she made a funny comment to me that I can relate to the other night.
Her friends are going to see Bon Jovi in NJ. She said she doesn't really want to go b/c it won't be as good as Pearl Jam. Now I've been saying that for years. Pearl Jam has ruined going to see other concerts for me.( Although I am looking forward to seeing Them Crooked Vultures again next week.) But to hear her say it was priceless to me!!!! It was almost like I did my job!
Yea you can't over ask and make a burden of yourself. But at the end of the month when drastic times require drastic measures you may need to call!!!

Does Kelly Curtis ever tweet? That might help giving insight into what the next month or so will bring.
