Oh yeah, if you have one in your nasal cavity, be prepared for bloody noses. My nose bled randomly for 4-5 days after.
  • Never got my wisdom teeth and from the sound of it, I'll take being stupid over that shit.

good luck with your teeth in the future.
i have 1 wisdom tooth left.
a few weeks back i had a bad tooth pulled.
never before in my life have i ever had such an excruciating tooth ache.
thank god that fucker got pulled.
the oral surgeon dude had to grind the tooth into several pieces to pull it.
lots of pressure, it wouldn't come out without breaking my jaw.

what i do miss are the vicodin and morphine pills i wasn't abusing

Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

    One more question...

I have to give a very important presentation to our VP and his staff on Monday afternoon.

I am getting this done on Thurs at 8am, so I have almost 4 full days of recovery before Monday's meeting.

What are the chances of being OK for that presentation?

    OMG you have guts!!!!

I had surgery to remove all of mine and I took a week off work. I was in sales at the time and there was no way I even wanted to be around people, let alone talk...not that anyone could understand me either!! LOL I was lucky in that they removed mine befroe they got roots on them, but they were rotated and coming in at crazy angles under other teeth, so still a painfull pain in the ass. I couldn't eat anything decent for a month...it was pretty bad, but the drugs they gave me were very good....combining them with alcohol, proably wasn't the best idea I had, but it took away the pain and I slept most of the time.

Oh and to top it off, just as I was starting to eat normal foods again, my boyfriend at the time, went and got his jaw broken in 2 places, had to have surgery for that.......yep...more mushy food. The blender was going non-stop for about 2 months straight.

Roast dinners just arn't the same when they are blended!

It's going to suck but you will get through it, we all do. Don't forget to gargle with salt water.

Presentation on Monday is doable and you can always play the pain card. Sympathy presentations always go well.

I was knocked out for mine as well.. It was fine. I DID make a fool of myself trying to drink some water when I couldn't feel my lip however!

  • yeah - I am 35 now and have been putting this off for some time.

Shit! I'm 36, and I ignored various dentists telling me to have mine removed since I was 15. (Well, the top left was pulled out in the 90s.) I no longer have dental insurance nor the money to pay for removals.... And NOW my teeth are wearing away as the wisdoms shove the teeth into each other, forcing some to be higher in their row. I'm slowly becoming 'buck toothed.' How attractive!

Does anyone know a charity in L.A. that will do it on the cheap?!?!

It will be hard to open your mouth for a while but don't drink with a straw! You may suck out your blood clots and you definitely don't want that!!

And make sure your holes don't get bits of food in them and get infected. For quite a while after the operation I had food getting caught in my holes which I would always try to feel with my tongue. So annoying. My doctor gave me this massive syringe to use to lightly spray water into the holes to dislodge any stuck food. Flush that shit straight out! Sounds gross, I know....because it was! :?

Yeah I had the squirter thing.
I was told to rinse 2-3 times a day with warm salted water to kill any bacteria.

Compared to my siblings, I came out ok.
They were in a bad shape, very swollen, vomiting, sick, lying down on the couch for a few days.
I was up and about, slightly swollen.
I think I was that good I played guitar when I got home lol.
But I was terrified leading up to the day I had them taken out.
The procedure took less then an hour.
    I was under GA.
If you are scared ask for GA.

  • Had mine done must of been almost 15 years ago. All four were screwed up bad, impacted. The bottom ones had to be picked out piece by piece. But in my case I was sedated (spelling?). But yea the recover is no fun just because of having to be careful while eating. I was eating solid foods the first week, but small bites and chewing it up really good with my front teeth. The biggest thing was getting foot in the wounds from the surgery...

    Good luck though.

Most dental schools at major universities offer programs where you can have them removed on the cheap...the work is done by dental students under supervision.....that's what I did....and I had no problems.

Are they knocking you out? Anesthesia tends to make act a little strange coming out of it. Apparently I was singing along to the Fleet Foxes all the way home. I had no clue there was blood dripping out of my mouth. I do remember that I was pretty happy most of the day.

I know you have a job and family and all that...

But the drugs they give you are kind of nice.

Bhahahahahaha... I have the full knock out job, and when I was coming to the first thing I heard was the surgeon saying to the nurse, "Is she awake yet? I made a mistake!" :o:o and OMFG did I scream like a freakin banshee...not what you need to hear coming out of your first ever surgery!!! I only had 3 develop, and he made an incision where there was no tooth, so had to stitch it up. He gave me all my $$$ except that of the anesthetists fee, and took that to medicare anyway...ended up having my wisdom teeth removed for about $40!!!!! OH AND HE GAVE ME AN EXTRA ENVELOPE BACK AND WHEN I GOT HOME IT HAD $100 CASH IN IT...HUSH MONEY!!! It worked fine for me! :D
