Does anyone know why the screens were in black and white?
    Arty...

All I can suggest is that it prevents people from filming the screen and getting a decent quality Video of the concert. The main reason I say this is because in Melbourne the video during Liam and Ben was in Colour and then it switched to B&W for PJ.

I thought sydney was awesome. I can't believe people are complaining that there was only 28 songs? I'm happy betterman didn't get played. Mike and Jeff were an absolute joy to watch. This has been one of my favourite shows to date, probably only being topped by the very first time i saw them in 98.
Highlights for me were Garden, Unthought Known and SOLAT.

. And then in most surreal moment of my life Ed came back around tent with the tambourine in hand... saw me... and came straight up and handed it to me. I could not fkn believe it! he took off back down to the stage and left me jumping up and down clutching my new instrument and rockin out to RITFW.

    (Get well ED!![/quote]
I saw you get the tamborine...well done! I was further along the line and was so excited to see Ed running towards me with a big grin on his face and Hi fiving everyone on the barrier. Then when he was about 2 people from me some bloody dickhead jumped the barrier and ran towards him. Security came from everywhere and he fell right in front of me. Ed said something to him along the lines of "what are you doing" (in a nice way that only Ed can) and then he continued down the line. Me and the guy next to me were the only ones who didnt get to touch Ed. ...I was sooooo dissapointed  The only solace I can take is that I got to hear his voice and was about 2 feet away from him.
Im so happy with my righteous self..

When he ran down our section (in the middle in the 2nd section) he focused on the left side on his way through, and then on the way back he ignored our side again. So even though i was on the barrier i couldnt reach him.
A bit disappointing, not that i couldnt reach, but that he didnt look our way. But still think its awesome how he's doing this at each show, it's like an anticipated highlight of the night :D

I was a 6 feet to the left of the guy who jumped the fence. Ed's had a good laugh at him for it. :D Didn't hear what was said. Maybe it was "Don't do it, I'm contagious!!!"
I can't go the library anymore, everyone STINKS!!
  • I was at both Melbourne and Sydney too. They were such different experiences as djwald said. Melbourne was all up & love, top of their game - the guys all having a blast and bringing the audience along with them. It was a friggin party start to finish. Sydney was the guys banding together and battleling through. There was sheer determination to entertain us despite the heat and Eddie being down for the count. They were up there fighting for us. You feel the frustration at times but admired them all the more for powering through. I'm glad I got to experience both - it speaks to thier brotherhood and this band being masters of this game. I was with some PJ virgins at the Sydney concert and they were blown away and said if Eddie hadn't of mentioned he was feeling sick - they would have never have noticed.

Can't see any middle runway on the Brisbane venue map. Just one big Fixer Field. :?

From memory the original maps didnt have the T barriers but the emails sent out by 10c just before the shows (probably tonight or tomorrow morning) have had a link to more detailed maps. It's a wise security move because you have sections of people instead of one massive section, so it relieves the pressure (and provides a place for Ed to run through the crowd muhahaha ) :D

After a last minute decission to leave Perth 14hrs before PJ came on stage I'm staying positive on this one.
They all did a fantastic job, and I'm sending Ed ' Get well NOW' vibes for the rest of the tour.
I stashed my poster in a bush near the venue and stayed cool and 'Refreshed' at the pub until 7.30 and made my way to about 20mtrs from stage and was happy to rock out there.
Blokes with no shirts on, all sweaty and pushing thier way through the crowd was gross. Under different circumstances I may have enjoyed that :?

But he was watching out for everyone, and visibly distressed during a solo when some girl had passed out and was been passed through the crowd.

Ed had just finished asking us to "look out for one-another and if anyone falls could we pick them up".......well that chick was behind me and collapsed onto me. I immediately tried to pick her up and it wasn't until I asked those around me to help, did some other chicks help me get her up and out of there, so thanks to those that came to assist.

Back at the pub and in the girls toilets, heard the same thing......
" that was dumb, they didn't even do Last Kiss, Jeremy, ect ect........it was all new stuff"
    :lol::lol::lol:
To all of you with the rest of the tour to come, have a blast.

    What an awesome show !!!
I got there around 3.30 (fashionably late) had one look at the queue and thought "oh shit !".
I then proceeded to get my 10c tix and saw the queue there as well, another "oh shit !".
A girl then pointed out the 10c ticket box which was completely empty so collected my tix very easily.
Off to join the massive queue to get into gate A.
A guy then approached me and my mate asking where the 10c line was. "I didn't know there was one" I replied.
He then said "I'll just call my mate who is also in the 10c and find out".
His mate said there was a line to the far right so we followed him and joined the 10c line. ( thanx dude, you know who you are).
There were alot of people without wristbands being asked to leave the queue because they were not part of the 10c, they were very pissed off. They line moved very quickly and me and my mate got right up the front of the stage without a problem. My membership fee was well worth it !
Liam Finn's set was very weird, Ben Harper and R7's set awesome but now onto my Pearl Jam review.
What an opener "Why Go". It really set the mood for the entire show.
I thought the setlist was awesome. It was good to hear some tracks that don't get played live all that often.
I also went to the 2003 show in Sydney and they played almost every song off 'Riot Act', it was an awesome show but I would have liked to have heard a bit more off other albums.
This show totally made up for that.
One of my highlights was "Garden". Absolutely awesome !!!
I can't believe how good Eddie sang considering he had a flu. He gave it his absolute all !
"Red Mosquito" and "Indifference" with Ben Harper was a privilege to witness.
"Dissident","Down", "Whipping", "State of Love and Trust " were unreal !
One of the best shows of my life. I was a little upset that we missed out on a few songs at the end like "Footsteps" and "Once" but I can't complain about a cracking 2 hour set.

Just on the way home from work i was listening to Triple M (which is unusual for me) and the DJ goes 'why didnt they play the songs everybody knows?' Unbelieveable. I just laughed, i was stoked they played Dissident, Garden, Light Years, Whipping, Mankind and all those songs 'nobody' knows. They have released more than two albums!! I think Ten got a decent outing in any case.

I don't blame the DJ for saying that. Majority of the people there would just be casual fans.
Knowing that Eddie was not feeling very good, they should of played some of their bigger hits during the main set, it could of helped his voice out a bit as songs like betterman daughter etc get big crowd sing-along’s

why pay money for a ticket to see a band then whinge when they dont play the songs you like. casual fans can stay at home and listen to the greatest hits all they like. that's why i love pj, they do everything for the real die-hards. they cant play alive and betterman, daughter ect every night-BORING.

This is what morons don't get. This is their 5th time here. Obviously as we know they always had multiples in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane. I cbf counting but they have probably done around 50 shows here. And ppl honestly expect that this tour would be a greatest hits?

I’m not whinging, I’m just saying I can see why a causal fan might have been disappointed about Sydney concert. I still enjoyed it but considered it to be the worst Pearl Jam concert I have seen, I expect Christchurch to be a different story.
I love Pearl Jam and consider myself to be a diehard fan, but what’s wrong with them playing there big songs every night? I enjoy them, the casual fan loves them. Majority of people there don’t have the time or the funds to see them in multiple venues.

It’s a big shame that Eddie was sick as the songs they were going to play would of ended up being a sick show

They have 9 studio albums. The casual fan have had 3 years since the last tour to learn more of their stuff. As if the so called hits are even their best songs anyway. Fuck them. I've heard even flow 15 times, and Do the Evolution 15 times. I would love to go to a concert where they're not played.

Ummm they are casual fans, some of the concerts I go to I don’t know all the artist body of work, usually doesn't stop me enjoying the gig.

What’s the difference between you not wanting to hear even flow or do the evolution, where the casual fan wanting to hear betterman and alive in a concert?

  • I finally got to hear light years at Sydney and was so stoked....... maybe "thin air" in Bris would seal the deal for me and also it would prob be a lot easier for Ed to sing if he still has the flu. Melb then Syd noe Bris for the trifecta................... Bring it on
  • Hey there. My husband and I tied in the Melbourne and Sydney show into our holidays from Canada. Both were good/different for own reasons. Though Sydney was a 1/2 hour shorter, I felt I liked this show slightly more. Maybe it's my mother gene kicking in, but I was really feeling for Eddie. He gave it all he got, and did so great under the circumstances. For me, I also prefer that drinking is prohibited on a GA floor (unlike in Melbourne), because I don't like the drunken aggressive or silly behaviour that goes on with it. Pearl Jam is enough of a high for me! Yes it was super hot (and yes, it did drop 20 degrees by the next day!), but I got closer to the stage than in Melbourne and arrived much later. I'm past my days of fighting it out in the very front of GA shows. I just enjoyed the shows for the fact that this is still my favourite band on the planet, and that I got to see them in warm climes 17000km from home. Bring on 2010 for more! :)

Well let's say this is the pope a catholic? Hell yeah it's worth arriving early for:

2.You'll most likely be surrounded by 10C members who are normal & try to look out for each other
    3. If you get there by 11am you'll definately get a good position or if you wanna be crazy come join me at 4.30am LOL....I know the regulars will be there before me :)

That is true... but the fact is they didn't play any particularly amazing rarities or covers to make up for the lack of hits. I wasn't at the gig so I cant comment on the vibe, but when comparing that set list, to all the others on the current tour...and over the recent months...it is fucking pretty average, and I can fully understand why a non-diehard fan wouldn't be impressed. Dont get me wrong, personally I wouldn't be complaining about it if I was there... the guys could get up and play xmas carols and I would be thrilled. But none the less... that is probably the worst setlist of theirs I've seen.

Worst setlist hey... well that's a load of B/S! Just becuase they played a heap of songs that the non diehards & even myself haven't heard I couldn't give a rats....I loved it. It also allows people like me who hadn't heard the songs to go & buy the album that there off etc.

No one should go to any concert especially Pearl Jam (who mix their setlists) expecting to hear hit after hit, seriously these so called whingers need to set themselves ZERO expectations & guess what....that way you won't be b*tching & moaning. Bring on the rarities even if I haven't heard of them!

I counted 9 songs I haven't seen live before, and that was my 8th Sydney concert. Setlist was good.
