Well let's say this is the pope a catholic? Hell yeah it's worth arriving early for:
    1. You get early entry
2.You'll most likely be surrounded by 10C members who are normal & try to look out for each other
    3. If you get there by 11am you'll definately get a good position or if you wanna be crazy come join me at 4.30am LOL....I know the regulars will be there before me :)

That is true... but the fact is they didn't play any particularly amazing rarities or covers to make up for the lack of hits. I wasn't at the gig so I cant comment on the vibe, but when comparing that set list, to all the others on the current tour...and over the recent months...it is fucking pretty average, and I can fully understand why a non-diehard fan wouldn't be impressed. Dont get me wrong, personally I wouldn't be complaining about it if I was there... the guys could get up and play xmas carols and I would be thrilled. But none the less... that is probably the worst setlist of theirs I've seen.

Worst setlist hey... well that's a load of B/S! Just becuase they played a heap of songs that the non diehards & even myself haven't heard I couldn't give a rats....I loved it. It also allows people like me who hadn't heard the songs to go & buy the album that there off etc.

No one should go to any concert especially Pearl Jam (who mix their setlists) expecting to hear hit after hit, seriously these so called whingers need to set themselves ZERO expectations & guess what....that way you won't be b*tching & moaning. Bring on the rarities even if I haven't heard of them!

I counted 9 songs I haven't seen live before, and that was my 8th Sydney concert. Setlist was good.

Listen to some of classic Ed stand up.

Just found this on youtube. It's his attempt of an 'aussie accent' and he has a dig at the poms too.

    Good sound, poor visual

This is getting ridiculous. This thread is for fanviews of the Sydney concert, not a running arguement amongst people who were there and people who weren't over how good/bad the setlist was.

I was at the gig. I had an awesome time and honestly they could have played any mix of songs and I would have been happy. I have to agree that those of you complaining that the setlist was bad are just as bad as the casual fans who complain they didn't play 'Alive', 'Betterman' etc.

I'm just happy I got to see PJ again. And as always they gave 110% and put on a great show.

So, please everybody involved in this shut up and take your arguements to another part of the forums.

This is the 3rd of 4 shows I'm seeing/seen in Australia. All the low points for me are about the venue and not the band:

It took 40 minutes to queue to get in! WTF?! In Melbourne (a much bigger venue) inside within minutes. Then the venue runs out of water! Yes, I know it's a hot day, but surely this shouldn't have happened. And finally we had to go through turnstiles to get out! STADIUM FAIL

The set was incredible. Loved hearing Mankind (turning a negative into a postive). Another superb show.

Great show, but I felt that Eddie referring to illness so early in the show sucked the energy somewhat from the stadium. Awesome setlist, just too bad that Ed's voice wasn't 100%.

  • This was my 8th show and the best for me. Hmmm ok maybe the first show I went to at the Brixton Academy (London) in 1992 or 3 was the best but this was definitely a close 2nd. I was in the front row for the first time. I've had 2nd, 3rd or 5th row seated....so I was absolutely delighted. It was to the far right of the field infront of the bigscreen but still!

Being 4.5 months pregnant with my first baby I was thinking I'd have to be at the back and be all safe and mumsy...but it didn't have to be that way. There was no pushing or shoving at all and I was completely safe...I think it was just too damn hot for all that malarkey! The only danger was from peeing my pants as the only toilets for people on the field to use were right at the back of the stadium.

I thought the set list was amazing. Loved hearing Light Years, Mankind, MFC, Garden, my faves State of Love n Trust and Down. Oh my...I was in heaven.

Then Eddie came down to us which was so nice. He touched my hand (not ONLY mine of course) but just to have that eye contact ... that moment. That moment will be mine forever. I just hope in that split second I was able to radiate all the appreciation I feel for the him and the band...for giving me so much pleasure, love and support over the last 17/18 years of my life.

I am so thankful to them, to all their great fans, to the universe even! I hope they will continue their trips down under for many, many years to come. Perhaps then Eddie can perfect that aussie accent! That was so funny...
  • Seriously, are people on here PJ fans?! Setlist was shit, worst ive seen, melb was better, nothing special, where were the hits? Its freakin pearlas boys and girls, i can understand venue quabbles and the heat (hell, even i wasn't happy with both) but you can't be serious in saying those statements unless your not a fan.

They were fantastic despite having a sick frontman and performed brilliantly to make a show for the fans who battled it out in the heat themselves. Maybe its just me but i dont go to a concert unless i really like the band and know and respect a very high percantage of their work. What is a casual fan anyway? Is it someone who likes 4 or 5 songs or is it someone who owns some albums, knows the 'hits' and is keen to see them play live? Isn't the first just that? Someone who likes a few songs?

It is beside the point, this is a review thread, and ive given mine-FANTASTIC from the greatest band of all times!!!

Just got back from Sydney today..

Just wanted to say that I thought Eds voice was fantastic despite having the flu. I couldnt get 10c tix so I had a seat as well as a fixer ticket (couldnt decide where to be). After queing all day in the heat at Melb and considering the 40+ heat I decided to use my seat and rocked up about 4.30. Sat in the shade all thru Liam and watched as the fixer section built up. Not many people getting into it in the seated area and there seemed to be plenty of room down in the fixer area so I decided to wait for Eddie to sing with Ben and see if the crowd rushed forward. I noticed there were still spots along the barrier to the far right of stage so I packed up and strolled halfway around the ground and got my spot on the barrier. Had a great side on view of the stage with no one behind me. I knew Eddie would do a run along the crowd so I was quite happy with my spot. I kept telling the guy next to me that he would run down our way and sure enough he did. That was when my dreams were shattered by that stupid stupid bloke who jumped the fence and made me miss out on my one chance to touch EV  So near and yet so far!
Just wanted to let people know that you can still get a good spot even if you rock up late...
Im so happy with my righteous self..
