Thanks for the great clip. Stone was brill (of course). I like the way Ed got jacked off with the tambourine at the beginning- poor guy, nothing was working out for him...

Wow what a night!! I saw the guys in Adelaide and Melbourne but Sydney was definitely the highlight!
In Adelaide i was right down the front on Mikes side and in Melb i was at the back of front T barrier (if that makes sense)... in Sydney i was at the very back of the T barrier just in the front of the Audio/Lighting tent.

Despite what some might think as a premature ending I thought the setlist was pretty fkn amazing! Crazy Mary, Untitled and Dissent.. oh i forgot Light Years! The setlist was great! I was stoked with the show and i could understand when they ripped in Rockin in the free world and the lights came up that this was probably the end, especially with Ed having caught a cold. So here i was at the end of my 3 show tour, rockin out to RITFW and thinking to myself how sweet it would be if Ed came up the runway because i'll have a great view, being right on the barrier. In Melb when he came up but i was too busy trying to take a picture and kinda missed the whole thing so i told myself if he comes up again, no camera, just enjoy the moment!

So... as Mike broke into his solo, Ed jumped down and started making his way along the runway down front. I couldn't see shit at this point, then everyone began surging forward as he came running up... all the way back to where i was with a tambourine in hand. He went right past me to the opposite side and his security guy stepped up to my barrier to block the fans from going too crazy and jumping the fence. And then in most surreal moment of my life Ed came back around the tent with the tambourine in hand... saw me... and came straight up and handed it to me. I could not fkn believe it! he took off back down to the stage and left me jumping up and down clutching my new instrument and rockin out to RITFW.

(i know he threw a few out) but damn... i got the one down the back! I'm still so fkn stoked! It was the perfect finale to my shows! I'll never forget the look from Ed when he saw he me... its like he saw me and said... i remember him from Adelaide down the front.... maybe not... whatever... I felt the connection! lol. i'm so thankful to Pearl Jam for 3 sensational shows! I met some great people along the way... Joel, Megan, Rachel and Frank!

See you in the 10C lines next tour!

    Get well ED!!

^^^these are some of my photos from the Sydney show.

I have to agree with those who feel that any PJ show is awesome, they all have their highs and lows.

Despite the heat and Eddie's illness all the guys put on an amazimg show. Mike was so energetic, Stone performed Mankind beautifully and most of all they just had fun.

Would love to write more, but most of it has been said already.

Thanks to Pearl Jam for another awesome gig. What seperates PJ from other bands is the love you feel from them as a fan. They're one of the few bands out there who truly appreciate their supporters. Proof of that is bringing Ben Harper with Relentless 7 and Liam Finn along for the ride, I feel lucky to have seen so much talent not only playing great music, but performing with vigour and having a great time on stage.

What's awesome is reading all these fanviews and Sydney does not have to have a best of setlist to go off. If only they got to finish what they had planned, it would of shut those fuckers up who are saying they didn't play any of their hits.

If they played (what was on the setlist) Betterman, 1/2 full, wasted reprise, footsteps Daughter, Alive and Yellow Ledbetter, this concert would of been one for the ages.

As it was, Fucking incredible as is.

    Thank you Pearl Jam

  • :D What an awesome concert!!

Thank you so much to Eddie for pushing thru the pain - he really was unwell.

This was my first concert as a 10C fan and how awesome it was to be so so close.

Pearl Jam inspired me and helped me every step of the way thru my battle with breast cancer 3 years ago.
They played my all time favourite Given to Fly and it felt liike they were playing it just for me!!

 I am very embarrassed to admit but the heat finally got to me after lining up from 3pm and the bouncers very nicely helped me out of the crowd ... I was so embarrassed as I walked infront of the stage but I honestly felt like I was gonna faint.

The bouncers did an amazing job making sure everyone had water and was ok.

Liam Finn and Ben Harper and the Relentless 7 were fantastic - what an extra treat to witness such talent.

Thank you to all my fellow Pearl Jam devotees for helping to make such a fantastic night.

I am now feeling the aftershow blues :(

Get better Eddie and thanks to all the band for an amazing night YOU GUYS LIGHT UP MY LIFE

Just added some more photos to that link. Mike is shirtless in a couple. Sorry for some blurry shots, to be expected from the field though :D
  • FIRST EVER PJ GIG! Didn't disappoint.
Love the new tunes live - especially Fixer. Crazy Mary was magic, Why Go was a kickass opener, and Vedder sounded fine to me. The real hero of the gig was Jeff though - leaping about the stage, amazing fretless work on Even Flow. Killer set.
Great opening acts too - Under Pressure was an obvious highlight.

so happy to hear that the sydney show was enjoyed by so many people. For me it was a distant 4th to Melbourne and Adelaide, with Perth only just behind them - Perth at the time was amazing, but the realization set in after Adelaide that they had really loosened up and that set list was one to die for. And then Melbourne.....that was a freakn religious experience, one I will never forget for the rest of my life. Hell I still remember cheering as 5,000 people crashed threw the gates in 1995.....Friday's experience had the same intense feeling. so much f*ckn love in that arena. Every one just smiling, singing, dancing, hugging, the band felt it and gave it back more - was like a living organism building between band and audience until it all pretty much became one by the last few tracks. AMAZING

Is every concert in Sydney so rediculous about alcohol (couldnt take a freakn beer onto the field, walked to the other side of the stadium during mankind only to find the bar shut) and sound (Sydney sunday night restrictions meant it was about 60% volume than in the other shows)? And do the security guards really need to be as aggressive and unhelpful as they were - is this usual for all sydney shows?

Eddie and the band did an AMAZING job given the circumstances - that was what I was enjoying more than anything last night - watching the band fight together in the trenches. And they were really in the trenches. Apart from Eddie some JUST making it through the night, the others really stepped up. Mike is my all time hero. Jeff and Matt were monsterous - stone and boom shining. Stone seems more intense this tour and seems to be enjoying himself more than ever - it may or may not be the case, but thats how it appeared.

Thank you Pearl Jam. In 1991 I was in tower records in New york buying *cough, cough* Use Your Illusion when i asked the guy there whats new to take back to oz that i probably wouldnt have heard of yet. he gave me TEN. A week later I was in my mates house jumping off the kitchen table to 'Once' (the best opening of a debut album EVER) and telling him - "these guys are gonna be bigger than Led Zepplin" hahahaha

Over the past 18 years I have been to 16 shows in Australia and Europe and you really are vintage drop - you keep getting better with age. Last night was the first time I saw you in a state of adversity and you made it a state of love and trust.

    See you next time!

Just remembered, after Ed mentioned how sick he was, and Ben Harper came out, and tried to shake his hand/ hug him, Ed pulled away and says "I'm contagious" Right after Ed had just given a big hug and a kiss to Joannie,

And the two of them argued over which part of Indifference they were going to sing. Ed was about to sing first, but that would of left him with the 'I'll swallow poison" that would of strained his vocals. Those two things made me laugh.

It seemed like a fun crowd last night.
I got to 2nd row on Mike's side.
No more shows this time for me, back to reality.

Anyone see that female cop on the horse after the show roughing everyone up using the horse to knock people back towards the traffic island.
Then she was being agro and a smart arse.

  • Another great show, but not the best I've been too. And through no fault of the band, I thought they were awesome yet again... I didn't have 10C tix to this gig because being my hometown, I wanted to experience the gig with my friends. Although they really enjoyed themselves, they are not into Pearl Jam the way I am and kept coming and going throughout the concert. I got a pretty horrible spot in the middle of the field near the speakers. The sound was terrible, and I couldn't see a thing. The people around me weren't getting into it. In the end I got fed up and went and sat in some seats at the back of the stadium. Although the band looked like ants on the stage, this was a much better position and I could actually hear and see what was going on on the screens. I really enjoyed it once I moved. It was also interesting to see just how many people were actually there. I'm sorry Eddie wasn't feeling well, but he and the rest of the band did a fantastic job. You would never have known! Melbourne was a great concert, and I know you shouldn't compare, but after such an awesome concert and having a bad start to the Sydney gig, I did leave a little disappointed. Hopefully my experience in Brisbane is better.... looking forward to it. I hope you're feeling better Eddie!!!
    I said YEH!
  • YAY......a great set, (although I would've loved to have heard Just Breathe live, always next time tho :) There can't be a bad choice in a PJ setlist for me & I really enjoyed Ed's early appearance with Ben Harper singin Under Pessure, it was good to see Liam join Ed for Throw Your Arms around me later on as well... I love the surprises that PJ throw in :-))
I loved Liam & Eliza Jane's electric set & Ben Harper (magic slide) was great as always & what can I say except that Pearl Jam totally rocked the stadium...
Thnx to Ten Club.. we were right up the front,it was bloody hot but sooooo worth it! Security were great with the water and the crowd, around us were really good...most stuck to the rules about moshing crowd surfing etc, (a few smokers were hard to swallow  ) PJ feel a huge duty of care towards their fans :-))and it was probably a little hot to be over zealous, that said everyone around me sang & danced with heart & soul..
I got that Ed was dissapointed about his voice but I :D thought he was raw and vibrant as always & he could never disappoint me...I'll still take the $20 discount next time they tour tho lmfao! I wish PJ visited Oz every year
rock'n in the free world :D Lisa (published same in setlist forum)
  • another great show, although not the best pearl jam show i have been to, thoroughly enjoyable non the less.
Dissapointed with the edited set list, but wouldnt have really cared if i didnt know!

The only down part was the idiots trying to mosh, but just running into everyone (one moron in particular). It was funny to see them looking dumfounded on some of the ''rarer'' songs, unsure of if/when it was going to rock.

did get my son a pj onesie (pity they only had white) but i didnt see the swans shirt, coz i was looking for stuff for him. Bugger. Anyone know if there is there any way you can buy it online??

lastly so sorry to hear about sebastian (i think that was his name) my son is in hospital and i teared up hearing light years dedicated to a lil boy. My deapest simpathy to you and yours Jaswah.

This was my 31st show and one of the most memorable. I can see me remembering this show intimately (with positive thoughts) for a long time to come, whereas I've already forgotten a lot of 2006 and 2003 memories.
