Hey everyone,
Last night was my second PJ show (first was subi oval in 06) and I was totally blown away again. I loved how diverse the setlist was compared to 06 and the fact that we got some rarely played songs. Love Reign over me was definitely a highlight, along with just breathe and Yellow Leadbitter.
Ben Harper was very good before that and I wish was that at the start of under pressure, they pretended to start singing "ice ice baby" just for a laugh as I know a few people around me were shouting the exact same thing Does anyone know if the Ben Harper or Liam Finn's sets will be released online anywhere too? I can't wait for the PJ Perth bootleg to come out.
To everyone who has tickets for upcoming shows across Aus, you will not be disappointed. There will be no lip syncing, no silly pyros, just one hell of a great show
Thanks to everyone involved for one of the best gigs I have ever been to
Just got home Wish every day was Pearl Jam concert!! Interesting set list! It had all the usuals but i am starting to wonder if i am ever goona get to see light years live, pilate was a great surprise though. Thanks to Ten club for my first real up close experience! Now the Post Pearl Jam Depression sets in. I hope the wait is short!! fellas.........YOU ROCK!!
Both Liam and Ben were great and worth turning up early for. Under Pressure was certainly a highlight.
Pearl Jam were on fire, like a good wine they are getting better with age. Very tight and loving performing. Breakerfall as an opener was a good surprise and the opening from there on in was rocking.
Main highlights for me were Garden, Love Reign, Amongst the Waves and Red Mosquito (oh and Yellow Ledbetter which is my favorite Pearl Jam song and I finally got it after four shows ). Would have liked one or two less sing-a-longs swapped with a couple of rarities, however the crowd respond better to the popular songs so not too fussed. Thought we got a lot of the same songs from the 2006 show but I am not complaining (minus the Avocado songs which were substituted with Back Spacer songs).
Ed's talking was pretty good. Taking the piss out of Brittany early on and then the lip sinking joke in Betterman was funny.
The crowd was pretty good and well behaved. I was on Mike's side just behind Paul and his beach ball. Crowd energy was pretty good also but tended to die off a bit as the night wore on. I think standing for about 8 hours had something to do with it.
Was hoping for a Mike pick but didn't get one. The two Matt drumsticks made up for that though
Wish I was doing the rest of the Aussie and NZ shows. Looking forward to the reports. Can't wait until next tour.
Oh and for all questions about tickets/queuing etc. I got there at around 3:30pm and there were probably 100 ten club members already there. In the end I would have guessed about 500 ten club members all up. I would imagine this may be higher in the eastern states (Adelaide would be similar to Perth I am guessing). Ten club members filled only a tiny portion of the Fixer area.
Just wondering if it's possible if any fellow PJ fans could answer a few questions about last night. My partner and i are trying to get prepared for Tues night in Adelaide.
When you picked up your tickets how long was it before you were let in?
Arrived at 11 am - there were about 25 or so people there already....didn't pick up tix till just on 1pm...
When you were let in how long was it before the rest of the crowd came in?
WE were let in at a bit past 4:15, then it was not too long after us that the rest of the public was let in - crowd filled in fairly quickly, but not too quickly that we couldn't find a decent spot first
Did any of you guys that were let in earlier have any trouble getting to the front?
I didn't, there seemed to be enough room to let 10clubbers find where they wanted to be, BEFORE the rest of the public
How did you find the crowd was it as full on as 95 and 98? Crowd was fairly well behaved - there were a couple of knobheads who were pushing and shoving early on, on our side (Stones'), but security were pretty good sorting them out
Does anyone have an estimate of how many TENclubbers were there?
I'd say between 500 and 700
Did you get your merchandise before or after the show? BEFORE once we had our tix, we took turns in the line to go and get merch and stuff - those that were able to stash it somewhere did, and then other people held their spot in the line...it was all pretty amicable and friendly, nice atmosphere - someone had thought to bring music too
Also what time did the PJ get onstage. Pretty close to 8 pm, but by then, there was no way you were getting to the front if you weren't already there
Any feedback would be grately appreciated.
Cheers
Hope that helps - it was truly an awesome experience, cannot find one bad thing to say - organised well, line was easy to manage, and it was not too bad being squished!!!
Great setlist...band in awesome form and enjoying themselves more than ever.
Merch was supposed to be open at 1:30 but they were about an hour late setting up. Good selection of shirts plus they had West Coast eagles tour shirt so assume they will continue in all states. Just hope they do Port Power shirt in Adelaide and not the fucking Crows.
My GF & I were about row 3 but close to the T barrier. At the end of Alive (when Mike was shredding), Ed jumped on the barrier right in front of us. My GF felt him up a bit too much and I gave him a pat on the chest (he was drenched in sweat)....he had the biggest smile on his face just looking into the crowd. Hopefully someone posts a video on you tube of it....or better still, PJ should release a live DVD from this tour!!
Highlights for me were Corduroy, Garden, Elderly Woman (as always), Unthough Known, Save You (They ripped it to shreds), Throw your arms and of course Alive.
Whole show was great though....Cant wait for Adelaide on Tuesday....
Also, thanks to Kylie, Rob, Wozza, Brendan & Sairs for their awesome company.
What can I say, absolutely amazing night, have been watching the youtube vids all day! Couldn't have asked for a better setlist (well maybe Once and Black would have been good too ) so stoked to hear Corduroy and Garden live. Liam and Ben were awesome too, wish I was going to the rest of the Aussie concerts! Hurry back boys!
My GF & I were about row 3 but close to the T barrier. .
You guys must have been right opposite us! Was your girlfriend the one who the security guard covered in water when she opened her mouth for a drink?! That was funny - he was a dick!...

Nah...just next to them. I was in white t-shirt with shaved head. I thought I recognised you across the T-barrier from you profile pic. Yeah I saw the girl get covered in water...the security guards seemed pretty cool most of the night...

You doing any other shows?
Nope, no other shows - I wish!!!! If they are anything like last night, I am totally missing out!!! The security guards were cool really, but the guy that covered that girl in water kept checking me out and it kinda weired me out...
Awesome show saturday night and looking forward to melbourne on friday night. Want to get the bootleg cd of the show, just like i've got the past 2 tours in Perth from bootleg. Any word if they're doing it for this tour? I've looked under bootleg in the music category of the website and its only got shows up to June 2008.
As I lay on south beach Freeo this morning reading these reviews with the warm feeling of the jam still flowing thru my viens after last nights show I realised that all those years of working my arse off to allow me the luxury of now being able to fly half way round the world to see these shows was sooooooo worth it.
Last night was just immense - the guys get better and better
WA is the only place to see them - so laid back all day, chatting with paul in the brisi, eating there along side a couple of ladies (sisters) and sharing concert stories, being introduced to their niece baby niece - not yet ready to attend an actual show
I missed tenclub tickets but joined the parallel Q for the rest of us and when we got in could still have made the barrier Stones side and that was after getting merch + wc stop
Crowd so cool and the band outastight
Two east coast shows will have to go some to top this

Awesome setlist. A good mix from different albums.
I just hope they do the same in Sydney.
The 2003 show was pretty much a live version of 'Riot Act', not that it was a shit gig but I would have preferred a bit more variety as i'm sure most people did.
Love your profile pic! I used to have that "leaning Eddie" poster framed... it never made it back to Sydney when I moved back from Melbourne... I was very sad :(

Thank you so much.
I've been to all the concerts in Adelaide but this tour being GA i want to be prepared and don't want to fuck up like i did in 95 and got pulled out of the front area because i was getting smashed by the crowd.
Also i have a fucked back so that's another reason why i wanted to get some info about the lead up.
Thanks again, i'm glad you had an amazing time.
And lost count of the beers..... Easily already 3 figures....

Perth was amazing. The band was really up all night. Played a shit hot set ... all the big tracks, mixed with some rarities that they don't play so often ... Breakerfall, Pilate, Garden...
Ed was cracking jokes, and Mike was like a caged lion ...
Highlights for me : Garden !!!! Whipping .... love an ending with Yellow Ledbetter !!
I guess they will play thing slike Betterman, Alive etc at most shows considering its one show per city.
The band was right on the money all night ... really loving the response from the crowd.
I am in the 10C and lined up at 3pm. The way it is organized is cool, they really looked after the 10 clubbers. There was ample time to get a good spot and I was surrounded by awesome people... People there for the same reason, to love the moment, not mosh and pick fights like a few tools that were there. I wouldn't stress about getting there at the crack of dawn in Adelaide.
Bring on Tuesday night .... I'd love to hear RVM, Release, and if they play Black, lets hope the Adelaide fans react like they did at the Adelaide 1 concert last time, listen to the boot to see what I mean.
I have bumps all over........ Come on Brisbane!!!!

got a car...got some gas...oh let's get out of here-get out of here fast...
I hope you get this message but your not home...I will be there in just a minute or so...
I want to go but I want to go with you.

Anyone care to comment on the sound for the show?
Interested to know how it was in terms of volume, guts & general quality of the mix.
Those of you that had ten club tix were you in the fixer section or the rear of the GA??
The sound was great .....bass through the chest and plus precision (Booms intro to Reign over me....Wow)
TC tix or not you could get as close as you liked if entering at gates open time. The trick is holding that position for 3 + hours. There was no special section for TC members if that's what you mean. They just get in 15 minutes before the rest at gates open time.

From the "cross" in the crowd break during Eddie's Alive run.....What a buzz. Just got a "brush" as he stopped in front of me.
Warning.....video excellent....phone camera (i8910 Omina HD) didn't handle the big sound too well....turn it down.
