Im also a membre of a Godsmack message board and I showed them this message board and they were making fun of you guys. They said they would come on and do it but they cant because there not in the fan club.
Dude, think about the argument you're making on a Pearl Jam forum. What the fuck did you expect?
Tell your Godsmack friends that I'm pretty sure they don't need a fan club membership to be on the board.
I like Godsmack, but I just don't see your point in this thread...7/2/06 - Denver, CO

Yeah, I confirmed that shortly after but didn't think it was worth it to revisit this garbage thread to correct myself.7/2/06 - Denver, CO

I dug Godsmack when they first came out. Not as good as Pearl Jam though. They do put on a decent live show though. I liked their first albums, kinda wore out after that for me.8/28/98- Camden, NJ

If you like to wear cheesey bowling shirts with flames all over them, wear biker boots, have "tribal"(I use the term loosely) tattoos and drink Budweiser, then Godsmack is your band!0

How do you define hits ? I love Pearl Jams music and Godsmack also, wouldnt want to get into an argument pitting band against band. Obviously PJ is a bigger band, but a Godsmack fan could rattle off a list of songs just like the list you rattled off for PJ.
Most recently, Godsmacks latest single was higher on some charts then The Fixer. The band has had two number one albums (Faceless and IV) on the Billboard 200, which ranks the sales of all popular music. Godsmack have had fifteen top ten mainstream rock singles, a debut album selling over five million copies in just two years and have also been nominated for three Grammy Awards.0

Now not knocking Pearl Jam in the least, they are my favorite band, but I like Godsmack too. Too often I see people's musical opinions on this board are very narrow minded. It seems like many PJ fans can only like bands that have been around longer that PJ, are in the same musical class as PJ, or who have opened or in somehow been mentioned by PJ. A band like Godsmack obviously have success and have a large fanbase all by themselves. But everyone on here loves to fall back on, "Well, they are just AIC ripoffs", or "They are an AIC cover band" So they took an AIC song as their band name. So what? They are heavier than AIC, their live shows are much different than AIC's were (pyrotechnics, props etc.) It's no doubt that they were influenced by Alice in Chains but they took on they're own style and seem to be doing just fine. Not trying to convince anyone who hates them, just saying I enjoy their music. I like AIC's music too. But like Godsmack or not, they are successful at what they do. No one can argue that.He who forgets will be destined to remember.

Agree 100%. They are heavier than AIC. AIC was/is more melodic heavy while Godsmack has a straighforward heavy groove. I love both PJ and Godsmack, PJ being my number one. The whole pissing match about who has had more success to me is dumb. It's kind of like "my dad can beat up your dad". They fall into 2 different classed of music and I don't think that you can truly compare the two.I'll ride the wave where it takes me.0
