Insert these words where necessary and remove the homonyms: Know, since, are, there's, have to, too.

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just very bored. :)

    It was a necessary correction.

How do you define hits ? I love Pearl Jams music and Godsmack also, wouldnt want to get into an argument pitting band against band. Obviously PJ is a bigger band, but a Godsmack fan could rattle off a list of songs just like the list you rattled off for PJ.

Most recently, Godsmacks latest single was higher on some charts then The Fixer. The band has had two number one albums (Faceless and IV) on the Billboard 200, which ranks the sales of all popular music. Godsmack have had fifteen top ten mainstream rock singles, a debut album selling over five million copies in just two years and have also been nominated for three Grammy Awards.

Now not knocking Pearl Jam in the least, they are my favorite band, but I like Godsmack too. Too often I see people's musical opinions on this board are very narrow minded. It seems like many PJ fans can only like bands that have been around longer that PJ, are in the same musical class as PJ, or who have opened or in somehow been mentioned by PJ. A band like Godsmack obviously have success and have a large fanbase all by themselves. But everyone on here loves to fall back on, "Well, they are just AIC ripoffs", or "They are an AIC cover band" So they took an AIC song as their band name. So what? They are heavier than AIC, their live shows are much different than AIC's were (pyrotechnics, props etc.) It's no doubt that they were influenced by Alice in Chains but they took on they're own style and seem to be doing just fine. Not trying to convince anyone who hates them, just saying I enjoy their music. I like AIC's music too. But like Godsmack or not, they are successful at what they do. No one can argue that.

Agree 100%. They are heavier than AIC. AIC was/is more melodic heavy while Godsmack has a straighforward heavy groove. I love both PJ and Godsmack, PJ being my number one. The whole pissing match about who has had more success to me is dumb. It's kind of like "my dad can beat up your dad". They fall into 2 different classed of music and I don't think that you can truly compare the two.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

Godsmack couldn't even name their band without ripping off AIC.

Yeah, there's a lot of douches in this country that like to wear cheesey Oakley sunglasses, bowling shirts with flames on them, and get "tribal" tattoos. Sales mean nothing more than that even NASCAR gets 100,000+ people in a stadium to watch cars go left for 5 hours. Doesn't make these people necessarily intelligent.

    Cool stat, dude.

Who cares? Britney Spears sells a ton of records- do you consider her talented? Godsmack is mindless, talentless, wannabe rock.

I would agree with this. Neil Young is the most overrated artist in music history and 50 Cent's "In Da Club" might be the best hip hop song ever recorded.

  • WTF ? serious like, who's better ? Pearl bloody jam. simples.

godsmack are AIC wannabes. even copied their logo. saw them live a good few years back when they were debuting their awake album, and they were good. very good, as is that album, but i've gone off them. after that they became too generic and boring.

PJ is PJ. :-) and because of that they can't be topped.

this is a no contest. knock out in the first round. winner by unanimous decision ....
...Pearl Jam, a group filled with pride, passion, and intricate musicianship. Their music is full of subtle textures, rich color, soul-searching power, imagery, and eerie dissonance.

Nope, I don't care for Neil Young. I know its sacrilegious here but I'm just not a fan.

50 cent is definately a better rapper than Neil Young.

i hope this thread question was a joke

here's two better questions for you:

how much does godsmack pail in comparison to pearl jam?
how many more of jerry cantrell's riffs can godsmack steal?

Those do sound similiar. I'm not a huge Godsmack fan but I don't understand the hate for them. A few of their early hits are really kickass.

For me the thing is that pearl jams cd's ten and vs and avacado and backspacer are great and ten and vs maybe my favoritew cds ever but the rest of there cds arent as good. Diffently no code and riot act or boring and have no rock songs. Every Godsmack album is good and faceless is up their with ten. If they have one not as good album its awake but even that rocks.

Run on sentences are no fun to read. Also spell check is convenient and easy to use. Please take the time to write coherently.
