What night was best at Spectrum?

I was at all 4.
The last 2 have not fully sunk in yet so i cannot judge which is better but i can definitely say this:
3 = 4 > 1 > 2
2003: 7/14 NJ ... 2006: 6/1 NJ, 6/3 NJ ... 2007: 8/5 IL ... 2008: 6/24 NY, 6/25 NY, 8/7 EV NJ ... 2009: 10/27 PA, 10/28 PA, 10/30 PA, 10/31 PA
2010: 5/20 NY, 5/21 NY ... 2011: 6/21 EV NY, 9/3 WI, 9/4 WI ... 2012: 9/2 PA, 9/22 GA ... 2013: 10/18 NY, 10/19 NY, 10/21 PA, 10/22 PA, 10/27 MD
2015: 9/23 NY, 9/26 NY ... 2016: 4/28 PA, 4/29 PA, 5/1 NY, 5/2 NY, 6/11 TN, 8/7 MA, 11/4 TOTD PA, 11/5 TOTD PA ... 2018: 8/10 WA

3-Best show I have ever been to in my life. Outstanding set, outstanding energy both from the band and crowd. Highlights were Deep, In my Tree, Footsteps. And most importantly I got so close during Baba it was surreal. No need for a camera, it will forever be in my mind.
4- Was a tough one to rank #3 first. What a show. My seats sucked though but its understandable. I also had some real debbie downers by me (sleeping!!) Everything from Crown of Thorns - Whip it was phenomenal...and at some points shocking-BUGS??!!! SWEET LEW?!!?!
Tie between:
1- Just a great way to set the tone of the week. Back of floor and couldnt see shit but I did not stop moving the entire time. RIVAL!
2-Also close this night with my Comcast tickets, Middle level, next to Mike. The Phillies winning just added fuel to the fire of the night. I also loved the crowd interaction for this show but I hate Last Kiss (sorry)0 -
I guess I am in the minority
1) Night 4
2) Night 2
3) Night 1
4) Night 3
Not enough rarities to satisfy the hardcore fan, not enough mainstream to satisfy the casual fan. Night 3 had the weakest setlist by far, the worst 10C seats of the 4 nights, and the start of the dreaded repeats. Night 3 took away the magic of hearing "every" song they have ever written. It was on night 3 that I realized that they weren't going to play oceans. It was the only night that force of nature was played, which is a plus. Hold on was a treat, but was the weakest of all surprises.0 -
well I was there for wed and fri
but
3, 1, 4, 2
Tuesday and Friday had the best setlists IMHO
Saturday must have been great for its length and the hijinks, but Friday is the winner
tues and friday had the best songs-i will take all those yesterdays and habit over bugs and sweet lew any day0 -
Wasn't there for night 1, but night 3 was the best of the three I was lucky enough to attend. The energy just never abated that night. But I loved all 3 shows and had a blast the whole time I was there. It was great to meet a ton of you I hadn't met before!0
-
this would be my order as well. night 3 is hands down the greatest concert ever imo.nfanel wrote:each definitely had something special. pretty much every night there were songs i wanted to hear and hadn't before. night four was the most unique, for sure, but overall, my ranking is:
Night 3
Night 4
Night 1
Night 2Go Birds!!!!0 -
Night 4
Night 3
Night 1
Night 20 -
Night 3 and in my mind, by a landslide.....just for HOLD ON alone, but In My Tree, Tremor, In Hiding, Deep, Habit, Parting Ways, Breathe, Light Years, Mamasan, Sonic Reducer......it just never never stopped. I just kept shaking my head in disbelief as this night went on

Night 3
Night 4
Night 1
Night 20 -
night 3 had the best setlist and unbelievable energy. however, in 5 years when i look back at these shows, night 4 with all the rarities, whip it costumes, the 3.5 hour show, the confetti and balloons, and the overall significance of the show will come to mind first....i guess it really depends on how your look at it.0

what I said in my posts ya idiot. Can you not read. I was so bored with evenflow and betterman and alive on night 4. Why not play something like black red yellow, U or alone, wma, black diamond.Ledbetterman10 wrote:metsfan wrote:3

4 had way to many hits and repeats. they coulda done a lot more rare songs like pry to, goat, brother, around the bend, get right.
They could have done a lot more rare songs? Dude, they played Out of my Mind, Sweet Lew, I'm Open, Pilate and Bugs. What more do you want?Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?0 -
and that totals about 10 minutes of music out of a 3+ hour showLedbetterman10 wrote:They could have done a lot more rare songs? Dude, they played Out of my Mind, Sweet Lew, I'm Open, Pilate and Bugs. What more do you want?
pilate is great, the rest, I can do without
I can think of ten songs Id trade for each of those mentioned above-starting with all those yesterdays played on tues, no way played on wed, habit played on fri-just saying0 -
pjpjpaul wrote:I cannot believe this is even a discussion... Night 4 is BY FAR the best night... The band knew how imporatant it was to bring their A game last night and man did they ever... Did they dress up as Devo any other night? I dont think so... Did they play Bugs or Sweet Lew EVER before ummmm NO!!!! come one people you all know halloween and PJ and the last show ever at the venue was a special thing... Besides the rare songs the hits were also played with a greater sense of urgency... The band was in a great mood last night too with Eddie Joking around a lot... The crowd was good too, many people on here have been bitching about the crowd and the special guest rumors but come one people be realistic I payed to see Pearl Jam not f-ing Bon Jovi or Billy Joel... Like eddie was saying who needs Neal Peart when we have Matt Cameron !!! It was a once in a life time event and Im so glad I was lucky enough to be there... thanks to the band for being so gracious with the setlist and for playing their hearts out, you could tell it meant a lot to eddie and the band...
Agree 100 % -- PJ put there heart and soul into all of these shows but especially night 4 and it really paid off !! I was really glad that they were the only ones to play because they deserved to do this last show themselves and provide the best send off to the Spectrum !!!
Can say it enough -- Thank you Pearl Jam for the best four nights !!!0 -
Thanks for the feedback. When I started this thread, I should have posted a disclaimer that I don't want this to turn into a pissing match of who's show was best. Fortunately that hasn't happened (yet) but from some other threads there seems to be a bit contention between those who favored Friday's show vs. those who favored the Saturday's closer. Of course everyone will have a different experience, so this is just opinion so please don't get bent.
So far I've counted 2 people on this thread (who say they attended all 4 shows) who felt that one of the 1st two shows was best; but the majority of people are pretty evenly split on 10/30 vs. 10/31. I was at Friday's show and it was possibly the best show I've seen (see signature for comparison to previous shows). It was easily the best show I've seen with regard to energy both from the band and the fans (9/11/98's "Breath" rally included). I think Matt & Jeff kept the tempo much higher than usual.
I was extremely jealous of not being able to see Night 4. Final show for the Spectrum, Halloween, rumored Special Guests, expected rarities and longer set, it was even daylight savings for extra post show events. Even though it had all of that going for it, I'd already purchased my Friday ticket and couldn't pull off 2 shows. But from the reviews I've read, Friday night might have been the better of the 2. Beyond some of the "disappointment" some in the crowd might have felt for rarities not heard, absent special guests and a Phillies loss I think there is also the make-up of the crowd to account for.
With the announcement of the 1st 2 of 4 shows, 10c members who didn't get 10c tix probably bought pre-sale or regular tix for those show (Fri. being 1 of them). With the addition of the other 2 shows (Sat. being one) I think might have attracted more casual fans - or even Philadelphians who wanted to see the send-off for the Spectrum and may have been only cursory PJ fans. Just a theory. I'm sure the show was unbelievable and I wish I would have been able to make it. But I am not surprised to read the reviews of Sat's show having less energy - it would have been tough to out-do Friday's ultra high level intensity.Post edited by Rub on9/28/96 Randall's Island - 8/29/98 Camden - 9/11/98 NYC - 8/23/00 & 8/24/00 Jones Beach - 4/30/03 Uniondale - 7/5/03 Camden - 7/8/03 & 7/9/03 MSG - 7/14/03 Holmdel - 10/3/05 Philly - 5/28/06 Camden - 6/1/06 & 6/3/06 E Rutherford - 06/24/08 MSG - 10/30/09 Philly - 5/20/10 MSG - 10/22/13 Philly - 4/29/16 Philly (Ten) - 9/14/22 Camden0 -

Normally I'd get on your case for being so childish...calling me an idiot and asking if I could read. Exactly.....we got No Way, we got Habit, and a bunch of rarities throughout the week. I prefer those songs to the "rarities" played on Saturday as well. But I was happy to hear them when I did and happy to get what we got on Saturday. The 4th show had more than enough rarities for people who are into that and more than enough "hits" for people who are into that.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Oh don't come off like you're better than me cause ya aren't. I could dig up plenty of times where you called me names. So pull a chris reeves on your high horse and fuck off. I responded to the thread with my thoughts and I get questioned by some elitist fuck like yourself, such typical of this shit board.Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

Dude, first off, I'm sure I've never called you names. I've probably hated on you for being a Mets fan....but I'm sure I never called you any names.
And what's with the "elitist fuck" stuff? You're easily one of the angriest people on this board...as evidenced by your arguing with the "elitist fucks" in the Philly 4 fanview thread. And I know where you are coming from....it's lame for people who weren't even at the show to say that the crowds in Europe are better....but ya really need to chill.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea.
