What night was best at Spectrum?

I'd be curious to hear from people who went to all 4 Spectrum shows their thoughts on how they would rank each show and which was best. Obviously this is very subjective and many things can contribute what makes a show a better experience than just the setlist; but I'd like to hear from people who attended all 4 shows as they have the best perspective. If this is already being discussed on another thread; please include link.

Thanks.

  • I was violently ill with the flu for the 4th show so I sort of have to disqualify it because I didn't enjoy myself (though for length and rarities, there has never been a better PJ show.) I enjoyed the third show the most.

  • I attended night 1 only.

    I would rank them:

    4.
    3.
    1.
    2.

each definitely had something special. pretty much every night there were songs i wanted to hear and hadn't before. night four was the most unique, for sure, but overall, my ranking is:

    Night 3
    Night 4
    Night 1
    Night 2

I cannot believe this is even a discussion... Night 4 is BY FAR the best night... The band knew how imporatant it was to bring their A game last night and man did they ever... Did they dress up as Devo any other night? I dont think so... Did they play Bugs or Sweet Lew EVER before ummmm NO!!!! come one people you all know halloween and PJ and the last show ever at the venue was a special thing... Besides the rare songs the hits were also played with a greater sense of urgency... The band was in a great mood last night too with Eddie Joking around a lot... The crowd was good too, many people on here have been bitching about the crowd and the special guest rumors but come one people be realistic I payed to see Pearl Jam not f-ing Bon Jovi or Billy Joel... Like eddie was saying who needs Neal Peart when we have Matt Cameron !!! It was a once in a life time event and Im so glad I was lucky enough to be there... thanks to the band for being so gracious with the setlist and for playing their hearts out, you could tell it meant a lot to eddie and the band...

Personally they're so close, all too good... but if I had to...

    1) Night 2 - won the lottery. Unreal experience. If you told me a year ago, I'd be 2nd row for a No Way performance I'd have kicked your lying ass, but it happened.

    2) Night 4 - what a spectacle, and a what a marathon, and what a way to send a building into history. Not sure if Pearl Jam ever closed down an arena before, but it seemed like they were pros at it. Despite the rumors, this show exceeded my expectations, as I didn't want an "all-star" guest line-up. It was near perfect... Bugs and Out of My Mind and Crown of Thorns were such tremendous surprises.

    3) Night 3 - Setlist wise and crowd energy wise, this is probably the best, and since those are two of people's main criteria for judging a show, I'd expect a lot of people to pick night 3. And for good reason, Breath, Tremor Christ, Deep, Habit, Hold On, Parting Ways... A setlist lovers dream come true...

    4) Night 1 was incredible, but something had to go here. Having a show with Nothingman and Immortality and Rival and All Those Yesterdays be the "worst" of the run, just shows just how tremendous these shows were. Every boot is a must own imo.

I was at 3 and 4 which were both incredible, and I really wish I was at Night 1 too. Night 2 does not fit in with the others IMHO.

    2009 - Philadelphia, PA x4
2010 - Newark, NJ, New York City, NY x2
    2012 - Philadelphia, PA

    2016 - Philadelphia, PA x2, New York City, NY 2, Fenway 2
  • There is no doubt that these 4 nights were very special and will stand out over time amongst the many great Pearl Jam shows - and yes ranking the nights would be based on many variables - but after seeing the band at Bonnaroo with 95,000 other people and thinking that that Pearl Jam show would be very hard to beat I have to say they did it this week.
For some of us who got to attend all the shows it was like watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy extended versions in nightly sucession at an IMAX 3D theater - It was all one great opus
So if you went to all 4 or even just 2 you should pick up all 4 bootlegs and get the whole event as it was ment to be heard
If I have to pick the "best" night it was night 3 (10/30 Friday)- The crowd was so loud and every single person there was a Pearl Jam fan - Mike McCready who never dissapoints had his best night that night - Ed loved every minute of it - hell we all did - and In Hiding was so loud that I can't even come up with and adjective to describe it

Night 3 for sure - If any night should become a DVD it would have to be night 3
    Cheers

3-Best show I have ever been to in my life. Outstanding set, outstanding energy both from the band and crowd. Highlights were Deep, In my Tree, Footsteps. And most importantly I got so close during Baba it was surreal. No need for a camera, it will forever be in my mind.

4- Was a tough one to rank #3 first. What a show. My seats sucked though but its understandable. I also had some real debbie downers by me (sleeping!!) Everything from Crown of Thorns - Whip it was phenomenal...and at some points shocking-BUGS??!!! SWEET LEW?!!?!

    Tie between:
1- Just a great way to set the tone of the week. Back of floor and couldnt see shit but I did not stop moving the entire time. RIVAL!

2-Also close this night with my Comcast tickets, Middle level, next to Mike. The Phillies winning just added fuel to the fire of the night. I also loved the crowd interaction for this show but I hate Last Kiss (sorry)

I guess I am in the minority

    1) Night 4
    2) Night 2
    3) Night 1
    4) Night 3

Not enough rarities to satisfy the hardcore fan, not enough mainstream to satisfy the casual fan. Night 3 had the weakest setlist by far, the worst 10C seats of the 4 nights, and the start of the dreaded repeats. Night 3 took away the magic of hearing "every" song they have ever written. It was on night 3 that I realized that they weren't going to play oceans. It was the only night that force of nature was played, which is a plus. Hold on was a treat, but was the weakest of all surprises.

well I was there for wed and fri

    but
    3, 1, 4, 2

Tuesday and Friday had the best setlists IMHO

Saturday must have been great for its length and the hijinks, but Friday is the winner
tues and friday had the best songs-i will take all those yesterdays and habit over bugs and sweet lew any day

Wasn't there for night 1, but night 3 was the best of the three I was lucky enough to attend. The energy just never abated that night. But I loved all 3 shows and had a blast the whole time I was there. It was great to meet a ton of you I hadn't met before!

  • Night 3 and in my mind, by a landslide.....just for HOLD ON alone, but In My Tree, Tremor, In Hiding, Deep, Habit, Parting Ways, Breathe, Light Years, Mamasan, Sonic Reducer......it just never never stopped. I just kept shaking my head in disbelief as this night went on

night 3 had the best setlist and unbelievable energy. however, in 5 years when i look back at these shows, night 4 with all the rarities, whip it costumes, the 3.5 hour show, the confetti and balloons, and the overall significance of the show will come to mind first....i guess it really depends on how your look at it.
