    I like it better. Definitely still gets more plays on my player. Life Wasted, Marker in the Sand, Army Reserve, definitely not uninspired.

    It could be, if only they woulda written better songs for it and performed them in a more interesting manner.

    Riot Act is the most half assed attempt at an album the boys have made. You can hear it on the album, you can hear it when you hear them play the tunes live. The tunes are good enough and the sound is second to none, it just had horrible execution, imo.

    Can't Keep and an interesting fun second half give Riot Act the edge. Case closed

    Well, an album is only gonna sound so good. The mixing/mastering on RA is just absurdly good. I don't really think No Code sounds that good and they completely redid Ten.

    Yield is unbeatable and Vitalogy, Biaural, and Vs are as close as you can get that. RA is perfect for what it is, but it doesn't have as much musical depth as the rest.

    S/T had horrible mastering on the digital versions, but the vinyl sounds fantastic.

    What is your definition of "inspired"? Life Wasted, to me, is the most generic riff they've ever written. There is nothing to it. It's three chords that go back and forth. The tempo is medium and boring. There is no melody to speak of.

    Marker is okay but where is the riff? It's just Mike thrashing at a chord. The chorus is totally butt-rock.

    Those songs just don't do it for me...not even close...sorry. Give me Riot Act any day of the week.

    Half-assed? What a load of fucking codswallop! It is NOT HALF ASSED!! (Only one song on it, Help Help). The rest of it's great to listen to. And I love listening to anything off RA live. Would like to hear more, and off Binaural too.

    I may have my criticisms of Riot Act (despite my extreme love for the album), but none of those would pertain to it being a half-assed attempt at an album. If anything, Riot Act's fault is that it tries too hard...

    ive grown to love Riot Act, but only live. the album still sucks to me. I blame Ed.

    I do think Ed half assed it or i heard he was sick. I remember Mike saying on one song he was just playing around on a rehearsal waiting for the final take, and Ed said that was the final.

    for some reason on this album he sounds so different. like he's trying to sound like Mark Lanegan or something. very morose.
