So there are places that I could park my car for 6 days in NJ? Iam kinda leaning towards that after reading on the parking prices and driving headaches. We already have our hotel booked in nyc. We have our whole trip planned and its fixing up to be one hell of a trip. The only problem is with this damn car thing. Thanks to everyone for all the info. Anyone know on where we could park our car in nj for 5-6 days?

Try NY Waterways. Not sure about parking there that long but if you can its a short ride into Manhattan from the Weehawken Terminal. PM I might have another option for you

I'm driving down and staying in Secaucus, NJ.

From what i understand, there is a bus that runs right in front of the hotel and can get you to Port Authority in 20 minutes (might be lucky to make that time...).

This is a MUCH cheaper option than stayin in Manhattan...Does anyone think this is not a good idea for any reason? I've never been to NYC.

Stay in the Newport section of Jersey City, NJ. It's right across the river from Manhattan and you can reach anywhere via the PATH which is cheaper, cleaner and safer than the NYC Subway system. There's a Courtyard, Hyatt, and several other hotels one stop from Manhattan on the PATH in the Newport Section of Jersey City. Check it out.

that is actually a GREAT idea if they are cheaper VERY easy access to the city

I am visiting/driving to New Jersey and I want to take a train into New York City. Where can I find daily/overnight parking lots adjacent to your stations? Back to Top

If you are traveling from Southern New Jersey, you may consider parking at Trenton Train Station where you can catch a Northeast Corridor train to New York Penn Station located in midtown Manhattan at 33rd Street and 7th Avenue. For related parking information at Trenton Train Station, please call (609)599-9614.
If you are in Central New Jersey, you may consider taking the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 11 and taking the Garden State Parkway North for two miles to Exit 131A to Metropark Train Station where you can catch a Northeast Corridor train to New York Penn Station. For related parking information at Metropark Train Station, please call (732) 906-1661.
If you are coming from the Northwestern portion of New Jersey via Route 80, you may want to consider parking at the Dover Rail Station and taking a MidTOWN Direct train to New York Penn Station. For related parking information at Dover Train Station, please call (973) 366-2200.
For parking information at any other NJ TRANSIT rail station, please call the Transit Information Center. Agents are available to assist you daily between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and midnight at 1-800-772-2222.

Not much glamour in Secaucus but you'll probably get a decent hotel room.

The Pod hotel in Midtown is COOL. Not super-cheap, but not bad.

    hey fatal,

In secaucus you are going to take the 190 bus to port authority. it will probably be around 5 bucks round trip. it's only about a 15 minute bus ride in depending on the traffic at the lincoln tunnell. this bus will drop you off on 42nd and 8th. when you get out of the bus station head down town. msg will be 8 blocks on the left.

let me know if you have any questions.

if anybody needs some ideas for nyc be more specific. i've probably been to nyc about 100 times and i still see different things everytime i go.

NYC (MTA) trains and buses run 24/7/365

NJ Transit trains I know stop at a certain hr.

I don't know about the buses or the Path trains.

I think you will save a lot of money if you stay at a hotel in Astoria where you can like others said catch the subway and be at msg in 30 mins. Look in Woodside area too, they have some motels there for cheap and not only can you catch the subway, the Long Island Railroad gets you right into penn station faster than the subway even. I recommend Queens casue I live here and I know its VERY accesible to the city in no time. Theres even a bus the Q32 I believe that takes you to MSG from Queens.

and Long Road, yea the MTA services all 5 boroughs only, not NJ.

    Astoria is northern Queens?

Do you know any good hotel/rates in Flushing?

I know I can get a really cheap ride from Queens' Chinatown to Manhattan's Chinatown on the Chinese operated vans. :D

no problem. Astoria is north yea. If you do a search for Hotels near Laguardia airport which is smack dab in the middle of ALL the transportation. 5 mins. away from the 7 line which takes you to Times Square and u can walk to the Garden a few blocks. 5 mins away from Astoria and the N line, and a few mins. away from the LIRR stop in Woodside on 61st. Astoria Boulevard, Queens Boulevard, and Northern...thats where you wanna look for hotels. Stayin in the citys a ripoff.

Flushing is where Shea Stadium is..

and don't take those dollar vans! oh for God's sake

    If you stay in Flushing,
yea what SB said, you can catch the Long Island Rail Road directly into Penn Station and MSG is right up the stairs/escalators.

The LIRR is more expensive then the subway but it's much cleaner and more expeditious

the last stop of the 7 train is in Flushing. It will take you into Times Square (42nd Street). and I believe you can take the A C or E trains one stop downtown to
    Penn Station.

We should stickey the NYC Transit maps:

Thanks...for the info Stick and Allie. The Laguardia location looks convenience. Never used the LIRR but I've used the subway and dollar vans before. And the dollar vans aren't that bad. :p:D

Chiqui! You're coming out for the shows? Cool!
It depends what train you take
NJ Transit trains also come into Penn Station

the PATH train stops at 6th Avenue btwn 32nd and 33rd

MSG is on 7th Ave and 34th Street

You have to find out when the last train is though. I don't think they run all night? I don't know that much about Jersey though.
