At least two of us have reports from confirmed sources that NO industry types have been allocated tickets for Shep Bush. If there ARE any going around they will have been few and far between despite previous shows...
I think I might be one of those two people, but just to reiterate, someone I know at a record label informs me that there are no tickets for this floating around at all
LOL sorry Doc, you were one Say - could you use your time machine to go back and get us all ticket? ;-)
well what a crock of s*&% that hmv malarky was! missed on the 10c pre-sale, gutting but fair enough, it is a lottery after all and at least I got e-mail confirmation that I was in the lottery and that I'd not been lucky. However, HMV can kiss my sweet ass, as I pre=ordered the new album as required to qualify for their pre-sale, then nothing...while everyone was getting their link e-mails...nothing. so i contacted them - 'should be on its way', nothing and so on and so on. and guess how many tickets I managed ot egt scrabbling around on the phone and trying a myriad of different ticket websites - oh, nothing! Hate HMV and there ain't nought that can be done which is the most frustrating. I think I'll be returning the CD from the losers, and buying it elsewhere!
Did anyone else have this much of a problem? Congrats to all you who got the tickets though, its going to be one hell of a gig... lucky sods! x
this was my reply from Ticketweb.. after having them in my basket getting to the last screen and then they go.. I must say I prefer ticketmaster now at least you have ten min to compete your order and they hold the tickets for you... my payment has even been authorised on my account I did give them a real blasting today...
Thank you for your feedback.
There was an extremely large volume of traffic through our website for the Pearl Jam on sale and no general system errors have been reported by our technical team. If you experienced a long wait whilst trying to obtain tickets, this was due to the sheer weight of numbers trying to access the site. If you did not receive a reference number, it is likely that you do not have a booking.
We would also like to inform you that TicketWeb only had a small allocation of tickets for this event as tickets were also allocated to 3rd parties and other agents.
Once ticket selection has taken place, the customer must click the “Add to Cart” icon to proceed to the next phase of the booking process. Here, customers are once again presented with the event details, including the event, venue, time and location of the tickets that have been selected. The customer then has to confirm whether they wish to continue with the booking, by clicking on the “Proceed To Secure Order Form” icon at the bottom of the page. The booking is not confirmed until you have been given a confirmation number. The money has not been debited from your account, although it may show as being taken.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused- unfortunately when demand so exceeds supply, some disappointment is inevitable. Customers are advised to keep checking back to our site in case more tickets become available closer to the date of the events.
We are continually striving to deliver a World Class Service to our customers. Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.
< goes to hit self in the face > I knew that rang a bell. When I talked to Keith Prowse yesterday, after HMV directed me to them as they were handling the HMV tickets, Keith Prowse informed me they were the 'third party agency' for HMV etc, and their job was simply to administrate / send out tickets. Perhaps this is the explanation of third parties....HMV are not, by the way, an agent. Keith P were their 3rd party / agent. Which means that other 3rd paarties and agents prolly mean all those darn sods on the net like Double 8 and the others who are selling at vastly inflated prices..
Hey hows this.....
I had 2 tickets in my shopping bag this morning for shepherds bush, and refreshed the page 5 times after them telling me the transaction couldn't be complete with my tickets still there all this time....then after the 15 mins had elapse they charged my credit card 5 times which totals £495!!!!! Although Im not sure what happened as it was my nephew trying to buy tickets, this basically happened to my card. And now looking on eBay there are shed loads of tickets. Im really sorry for those who didnt get tickets.
I think we should all overbid on the e-bay tickets... like they did on the live8 and michael Jackson ones for the memorial.. i hate e-bay touts .. they stop real fans going to gig.. ifg we bid silly prices like 2,00,0000,00 you dont have to pay! (i think)

Now that IS weird and I do know shows previously where lots of industry have filled that level out. The only thing I can think of that they were the seats bought up by the 02 for their pre-sale which it seems never happened? Or maybe the industry are having a big party there and have all been told to keep quiet or be fired ;-) Man, if there are all those seats sitting there waiting to be bought - well, we know a few folks who could fill them!
I wonder if SBE can be persuaded to explain WHO the seats ARE for then?
There wasn't an O2 pre-sale but they did have an allocation of Priority tickets that went on sale at the same time as the general sale, the link is there in the O2 Blueroom at the moment, but of course now it's sold out.
One person in this thread said he got Level 1 so it's possible more did too.

After the tickets for the PJ show at Wembley went on sale, I complained to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport about touts because although I was able to get tickets through 10C (Thankyou 10C!) for myself and partner, I had to get tickets for friends. After 5 minutes of the tickets going on sale through ticketmaster I could only get seats right at the back of the arena!
Straight away there were loads of tickets on sale on ebay for seated tickets near the front. Reading the board it seemed that hardly any PJ fans got tickets for the front half of the arena. I came to the conclusion that ticketmaster sell alot of tickets directly to some touts before the sale even starts. Anyway, I recieved a reply, here is an edited version
'The government is opposed to ticket sale and resale activities that harm consumers and is seeking ways to ensure ticket and events can be better protected. The majority of fans do not resort to ticket touts to purchase tickets for events and the Governments approach must therefore be proporionate.
Through a series of summits, the government has worked with key stakeholders from the live ticketed industry
to identify the problems associated with the resale of tickets; a number of measures have been put in place. These include providing ticket exchange mechanisms and ensuring online companies such as ebay display the face value of tickets as well as greater transparency of a ticket's terms and conditions
The government does not intend to introduce specific legislation to control ticket resale at this stage, and indeed, a recent consumer study showed consumers felt Government regulation was not the answer.
Once the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive is in force, traders reselling tickets will have to provide consumers with all necessary information to enable them to make an informed purchasing choice or risk facing legal action'
They avoided answering my complaint about the huge profits touts make reselling tickets and my suggestion that it should be made illegal to sell tickets over their face value, which would solve the problem of touts making huge profits from fans, and also making sure fans only pay the recommended price of the event.
It makes me so angry that the touts are making huge profits out of fans need to see their favourite bands play. I think that both musicians and music fans should put pressure on the government again and again until something is done about it.
There should also be an investigation into Ticketmaster as I'm sure they have a 'deal' with touts, how else do touts get so many good tickets in such as short space of time?
I don't know if any more letters to the DCMS would help, but it might be worth a try.

What a very well articulated load of shit lol.
It was very nice of them to treat you like a moron
We are writing to you in response to your recent enquiry in regards to the Pearl Jam CD pre-order / ticket offer.
We are sorry that you experienced issues with the hmv tickets site on Tuesday 21st July. As you can imagine, this offer was extremely popular and as a result the web site did at times struggle to cope with the volume of people trying to purchase tickets. We are also aware that at times the volume of traffic led to confusing messages being presented to customers attempting to purchase tickets, leading customers to conclude either that the link did not work or that tickets were sold out either prior to 9am or within just a few minutes of 9am.
We would like to reassure you no orders were processed before 9am BST on Tuesday 21st July 2009 and tickets continued to be purchased by pre-sale customers for around 30 minutes.
Once again, please accept our sincere apologies if you were unable to purchase tickets in the hmv pre-sale; as you may appreciate the return of such a high profile band such as Pearl Jam caused unprecedented demand.
Why can't they just stick who ever bought the tickets name on the ticket and that they have to bring proof of identity to match the ticket.
Surely that would stop them... :?:
This is something that Nine Inch Nails already do for their fan club issed tickets (another member of the Jamily kindly directed me to a link about this earlier) - I seriously think this is a good idea. Could a member of the Pearl Jam management or even 10c perhaps help us with this query? Could they give us an idea of if this kind of thing is possible? I will also put this in the letter I write to the ticket booking agency.
I'm thinking other agents would be HMV (who did not have many it would seem) and '3rd parties' would be 'industry'.
I know a couple of people in the 'industry' who got Astoria tickets relatively easily but have struggled with this one and are currently without tickets. These are people who have seen them since '92, so if they're struggling...
Some tickets could've been reserved for competiton winners too. I seem to recall comps for Astoria.
Come on guys, doesn't all of this make you appreciate the ten club ticket purchase process more now?
I completely appreciate it - I just wish they were allocated more tickets but I suspect it is beyond their control as much of the ticket stuff is handled by the promoter and booking agent (who are all tied into neat little pies with all sorts of folks) I think the bands themselves have very little control over how many tickets their fanclubs get :-(
I think we should all overbid on the e-bay tickets... like they did on the live8 and michael Jackson ones for the memorial.. i hate e-bay touts .. they stop real fans going to gig.. if we bid silly prices like 2,00,0000,00 you dont have to pay! (i think)
hee hee hee really, imagine us all doing that, yee want bids, we'll give ye fuckin' bids
I just had a thought, recently i setuo another ebay account and bid on an item with any money omfo changing hands with ebay, so if I set up a load of fake email adds i could just bid on them all, say i will collect as im local, and kill them, take the tickets and give them all to you guys in exchange for large amounts of JD and ice

10c do have this policy. For fan club tix the member has to bring id and the other person with them and when t has been verified that they are the member, they are both given wristbands - well that's what's meant to happen
They avoided answering my complaint about the huge profits touts make reselling tickets and my suggestion that it should be made illegal to sell tickets over their face value, which would solve the problem of touts making huge profits from fans, and also making sure fans only pay the recommended price of the event.
Surely this is the answer, if they won't make the whole business of touting illegal then it should be controlled, say 10% of face value added on at the most, so everyone has a chance to buy tickets. Lets face it who can afford to pay £200.00+ per ticket plus beer money, poster, t-shirt, accommodation, travel, especially if like me you need 2 tickets (gotta keep throwing it out there just in case!! ) especially when the face value is 400% less?
I have bought tickets from ebay before and I was grateful at the time, but it gets worse and worse each year.
I got exactly the same reply e-mail from HMV that you did - a generic reply , well theres a suprise. :x
I have written back but do not expect anything to come of it.
Well done all those Jammie dodgers who got one, have a great night and spare a thought for us poor jamily members sat at home quietly weeping into our oversized glassess of wine

That ignores the laws of supply and demand, and on eBay, that is the the prevailing laws.
People sell them at those prices because people pay them.
If we saw two tickets on eBay, right now, for £60 each (over 10% of the face value), most would buy them in a heart beat. So then you are back to square 1 with more people willing to pay the price than are available, so then it goes to the people willing to pay the most, and then we have eBay.
They either make reselling tickets illegal, which they won't, or we curse out luck and move on.

You are absolutely right.
Although if the system was controlled the tickets would have been sold to genuine fans before the supply and demand part came into effect.
If the touts knew they could only make 10% profit or even 20-30% on the face value they would not be able to create the supply and demand situation in the first place by snapping up all the tickets.
We are all a little raw this week, cos every time we didn't get tickets, you go to ebay or 3rd party ticket sites and they already are on sale.
Supply and demand is not the same as creating your own market.
Don't get me wrong, you are right it is time to move on and look forward to the shows we have tickets for, I just don't understand why the government controls the sale of sports tickets but not music.

Seen Pearl Jam 4 times in London, once in Manchester, as well as an Eddie show at Hammersmith.
They can, some of the problem is that the music industry does not care about us. Label/Band/TM/Venue all could stop this happening to us.

Don't get me wrong, you are right it is time to move on and look forward to the shows we have tickets for, I just don't understand why the government controls the sale of sports tickets but not music.
