Fan Club Tickets....
Everyone saying that this system for fan club tickets is ok is flat out wrong. I have been a fan of this band since '91 and in the fan club since '95, and yes I feel that being a member of the fan club entitles me to get tickets before the general public. They really need to rethink the whole system. Every ticket in the arena should be available to fan club members first so that everyone that wants a ticket can get one. I know that is a little unrealistic, but I feel like I am paying for a membership for no reason. I don't want to pay for a membership and then have a 10% chance at getting tickets, I want to be guaranteed a ticket to the show I want to go to, otherwise, what's the point of even being in the club, some cheesy little single that always comes out 4 months late and a couple newsletters a year, give me a break. I could go to e-bay and buy the fan club single for cheaper than a membership, not that I would, but I could. I have now been shut out of four straight shows because of this ridiculous system, it really needs to change. Truthfully, I prefer the postcard system that they used to use over the system they use now. Why should the true fans of the band be put through all this hassle to see them live, either get more fan club tickets, or find a way to better accomodate every one that wants to buy the ones that are available.
Also, if you were lucky enough to get tickets, don't rub it in other peoples faces, yes, we all know you are excited and that's fine, but just leave your excitement at the sign in screen, so the other deserving people that don't get to see their favorite band from the good seats don't have to hear about it all the time.

I feel very badly for the people who run the 10 Club. It has got to be a thankless task. Fact is, there are only a certain number of tickets to go around no matter how they distribute them. To me, they are distributed in the fairest way possible. There are always going to be people who wind up not getting them. When you pay your dues each year no one promises you anything.
Of course, I got tickets to the Sept 30 Los Angeles show on my first try!!!

+1. I don't know if the OP knows this, but Ticketmaster puts caps on what percentage of a venue's seats can be set aside for an artist's fan club - roughly 10-20% depending on the venue. This is the system, and it is what it is!JohnDalton wrote:I feel very badly for the people who run the 10 Club. It has got to be a thankless task. Its more like 8-10%
but since comcast is trying to squeeze every nickle out of the spectrum, it wouldnt surprise me if the number was higher0 -
If they truly wanted to make it fair, and available to everyone with a membership, they'd cap the number of shows you're able to get 10c seats for. Like LA, but rather across the board. That way, everyone would get a shot rather than one guy getting three shows while someone else gets locked out altogether.0

didn't the 10c do that before 03. i think a 3 show limit would be fair.Jeanwah wrote:If they truly wanted to make it fair, and available to everyone with a membership, they'd cap the number of shows you're able to get 10c seats for. it's your decision to join the ten club and pay the money. before you joined, they lay it all out on the line and say that they do their best to help with tickets. in NO WAY do they say that you are GUARANTEED tickets. and NO, i did not get tickets.I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.0

is be in favor of a "one set per city" policy-the philly shows should have been limited like LAmetsfan wrote:

but I love getting 10c tix to more than one show per tour0 -
out of curiousity vierello, how many times have you seen pearl jam and how many times have you been shut out?0

Seriously, we pay what? a nickel a day to get a newsletter, a free single on vinyl and the chance to get decent seats at a reasonable price (most likely better than what you'd get during public onsale at the same price). I don't think we have it that bad. I think too many people have a sense of entitlement for what they've paid in dues over the years, but break it out by day and you've paid pennies a day for the chance to get a chance at really good seats which I think is more than reasonable (on top of the othe benefits we get). Even if you've been a member since day 1 you've only paid a max of $300 over the course of 15 years (assuming the fan club has been in existence since 94 which I could be wrong, I only joined in 06 so I'm not part of the PJ elite and I assume dues weren't $20 back in the day but I'm using what we pay now as my only reference point). $300 over 15 years automatically entitles you to front row or tickets at all when they have thousands of 10C members and only hundreds of pairs of tickets to distribute? Come on, if you really think about it is that fair?? Think about what you spend on coffee, fast food, cigarettes, beer, any vice in a given month...does that entitle you to preferential treatment/discounts/free stuff/front of the line access from your bad habit of choice??
I think people just need to think rationally for a minute before they start downing 10C for what they do for us. :roll:2006: Boston I, Camden II

I feel worse for the pearl jam fans who live in Philly and grew up with the spectrum but cant get a ten club ticket. The last events at "their stadium".0

Maybe people in a certain radius get a 1st round of tickets sales for a show in their area.Then, once that is over, the rest of tickets go on sale to the rest of the fan club.Pearl Jam Shows: 1998 - 9/11 New York, NY (MSG night 2); 9/13 Hartford, CT || 2000 - 8/24 Wantagh, NY (Jones Beach 2); 8/27 Saratoga Springs; 8/29 Mansfield, MA (night 1); 8/30 Mansfield, MA (night 2) || 2003 - 4/29 Albany, NY; 5/3 State College, PA; 7/2 Mansfield (night 1); 7/6 Camden, NJ (night 2); 7/8 New York, NY (MSG night 1) || 2004 - 9/28 Boston, MA (night 1); 9/29 Boston, MA (night 2) || 2005 - 10/3 Philadelphia, PA || 2006 - 5/12 Albany, NY; 5/13 Hartford, CT; 5/24 Boston, MA (night 1); 5/25 Boston, MA (night 2); 5/27 Camden, NJ (night 1); 5/28 Camden, NJ (night 2)|| 2008 - 6/19 Camden, NJ (night 1); 6/24 New York, NY (MSG night 1); 6/25 New York, NY (MSG night 2); 6/27 Hartford, CT; 6/28 Mansfield, MA (night 1); 6/30 Mansfield, MA (night 2); 7/1 New York, NY (Beacon Theater)|| 2009 - 9/21 Seattle, WA (night 1); 9/22 Seattle, WA (night 2); 10/27 Philadelphia, PA (Spectrum night 1); 10/28 Philadelphia, PA (Spectrum night 2); 10/30 Philadelphia, PA (Spectrum night 3); 10/31 Philadelphia, PA (Spectrum night 4)|| 2010 - 5/15 Hartford, CT; 5/17 Boston, MA; 5/20 New York, NY (MSG night 1); 5/21 New York, NY (MSG night 2)|| 2011 - 9/3 East Troy, WI (PJ20); 9/4 East Troy, WI (PJ20) || 2012 - 9/2 Philadelphia, PA, 9/30 Missoula, MT || 2013 - 7/19 Chicago, IL (Wrigley Field), 10/12 Buffalo, NY, 10/15 Worcester, MA (night 1), 10/16 Worcester, MA (night 2), 10/18 Brooklyn, NY (night 1), 10/19 Brooklyn, NY (night 2), 10/25 Hartford, CT || 2014 - 10/22 Denver, CO || 2015 - 9/26 New York, NY (Global Citizen Festival) || 2016 - 5/1 New York, NY (night 1), 5/2 New York, NY (night 2), 8/5 Boston, MA (Fenway Park night 1), 8/7 Boston, MA (Fenway Park night 2) || 2018 - 9/2 Boston, MA (Fenway Park night 1) || 2020 - 3/30 New York, NY

I would definitely agree with that on the larger full US tours. Its hard to do with with this because its only a few shows. But seriously, its ashame because its the last event at the spectrum. And also the people who go to every single show and have been to 7,000 of them would cry.
Either that or they would have to get a job...
totally kidding.0 -
i liked when it was one show per tour and i've never not gotten 10c tix. when they did away with that i went from the 2nd row to the 10th too. This show, another show, a show here and a show there.0

I've seen them 9 times, 6 times with fan club seats, 3 without, and been shut out 5 times. The times I got fan club seats were when the demand wasn't as high and it was much easier, it just seems to me that as the demand rises, the supply should rise as well, I think I learned that in college at some point.SolarWorld wrote:I got Seattle tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIMITED TICKETS
No need to call people names, I realize that there are a limited number of tickets, but it shouldn't be too diffcult to get more, the venue is still making money and I'm sure that TM or comcast tix is also, just seems to me that the people who love the band should have a better chance at the best seats.0 -
tickets/venues/ticketmaster & live nation concerts are far from perfectly competitive markets.
so you can throw supply and demand out the window.0 -
never had any problems getting ten club tickets so it all seems fair to me.

So nobody who isn't a member of a fan club can get tickets?
That seems like a disastrous system.
People complain about ticketmaster fees now, that would just be another $40 or $60 fee to get tickets (assuming PJ plays every 2-3 years)0
