  • The Blues have always been missing a standout #1 goalie. There's a prospect named Bishop that might be the guy, but that's still at least a year away. This is the reason I was disappointed to see Backstrom re-sign with the Wild...I think the Blues would have gone after him.

I dont know if Backstrom is as good as everyone seems to think, I think Lemaires system made him better then he is, we will find out next year I guess. I went to game 1 and watched Bishop in the warmup, guy has to be like 6'6

Habs fans booing the American anthem didn't seem right, but by the end of the game they were booing their own team.

They boo everything. There was an article in ESPN The Magazine recently which said that they booed Shane Doan when he came in for the All-Star game over a misunderstood comment that was made years ago. Those clowns are ridiculous.

    Every playoffs.
St Louis booed the Canadian anthem the night before, so whatever.

And no, I don't agree with it.
The Montrealers can be the biggest asshole fans in the league one minute, and the classiest the next (see: Chara, All Star SC).
I'd also like to point out that it's the largest capacity NHL arena in the league (I think) and it wasn't very many of them. It never is. Just enough to embarass the majority.
  • GO CANUCKS!!! let finish off the Blues and have a nice break before the next round!

I don't think it's going to happen tonight EW. I think the Blues take tonight, but the Canucks will wrap it up at home. I wouldn't be shocked if the Blues put two straight together, but there's no chance of God himself beating Luongo in four straight.

I wouldnt be surprised if the Blues won tonight and by a hefty margin too, like 5-1 or something.

This has been discussed ad nauseum on various hockey boards and it believed they were chanting "Bluuuuuuuues!" which they apparently do a lot because they were doing it during the American anthem too.

I think that is very possible, and I think it is possible that the fans were booing. I'd be ashamed if they were booing. St. Louis usually has some classy fans for their sports (see: St. Louis Cardinals), so my gut tells me it was "Bluuuuuuuuues".

    I'd believe that.
Montreal was chanting before hand too (I have no idea what) but it sounded for the most part like they just kept chanting.
There's always a few that fuck things up. I remember some of them booing the Canadian flag at PJ '03.

    GO WINGS GO

The fans in Columbus should be crazy tonight with their first taste of playoff hockey.
We'll let them enjoy it for a little while and then quiet them down.

Anyone who is watching the Detroit/Columbus series- how do you think Osgood is doing?
To be honest, he has really exceeded my expectations. He's made a lot of great saves in this series. If it weren't for him, I think the Blue Jackets might still be in this thing.
It was funny though, on the Detroit Free Press website this morning, they printed a column from a sports guy in Columbus, and the whole point of his column was that Osgood was the weak link in on the Red Wing team.
    As a fan, I disagree.
Anyone out there with an objective opinion?

    Yeah Canucks!!!!

Couldn't watch the game tonight :x  I had a friend in town who is a self-professed Canucks jinx. So I had to take her out to dinner and then make her sit outside till overtime was over. :? :D She was okay with that, and very happy when they won

how can you possibly call goalie interference? if brodeur was in the crease he would have a case, but not when he's 3 feet out of the paint with a guy just trying to skate across the slot.

nice to see him not get that call. even nicer to see him throw that little temper tantrum at the end there.
